In the March 1974 issue of Pediatrics, Drs. Cook et al. describe an infant with a pneumothorax secondary to a diagnostic amniocentesis.1 We have recently treated a similar case, but with an additional, unusual finding.
A 25-year-old black woman (gravida 4, para 2, abortus 1) with sickle cell trait, previous cesarean section due to cephalopelvic disproportion, left renal calculi, and recurrent urinary tract infection, was admitted December 24, 1973 with pyelonephritis and intrauterine pregnancy. She was treated with gentamycin and progressed satisfactorily.
