The generic limits of Mormolyca Fenzl are extended to include Cyrtoglottis Schltr., on the basis of intermediate species. A previously misunderstood species, Maxillaria galeata Scheidw., is included in the genus Mormolyca, and the relationship of this genus to the rest of the Maxillaria-alliance is discussed. One new species, Mormolyca polyphylla, is described, and a synopsis of the genus is presented.

Inti gen. nov. (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae: Entedoninae), is described from Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, and includes one new species, I. levis sp. nov. The new genus is characterized by four autapomorphies, and the possession of an additional 14 synapomorphies. Inti is compared to the Australian genus Horismenoides Girault with which it shares the most apomorphies, indicating a possible sister-group relationship. The relationship of Inti to the tribe Euderomphalini and to other groups in the subfamily is discussed briefly.

During several sampling periods in the Northern Adriatic Sea (Mediterranean) from 2003–2010, one species of Pista and one of Pistella were found. They were initially identified as Pista cf. lornensis (Pearson, 1969), but detailed examination revealed the presence of two new species, one belonging to the genus Pistella Hartmann-Schröder, 1996, P. rovignensis sp. nov. and one belonging to the genus Pista, P. adriatica sp. nov. These two species differ from each other in the structure of the branchiae, shape of lateral lobes and the structure of the anterior thoracic uncini. The two new species are compared with other species of Pistella and Pista currently known. The relationship of Pistella and Pista is confusing and a complete revision of the two genera is urgently needed together with other genera characterized by having long-handled thoracic uncini.

AbstractThe crustose lichen genus Mycoblastus in the Northern Hemisphere includes eight recognized species sharing large, simple ascospores produced 1–2 per ascus in strongly pigmented biatorine apothecia. The monophyly of Mycoblastus and the relationship of its various species to Tephromelataceae have never been studied in detail. Data from ITS rDNA and the genes coding for translation elongation factor 1-α and DNA replication licensing factor mini-chromosome maintenance complex 7 support the distinctness of Mycoblastus s. str. from the core of the Tephromelataceae, but recover M. fucatus and an undescribed Asian species as strongly supported within the latter group. We propose accommodating these two species in a new genus, Violella, which is characterized by its brownish inner ascospore walls, Fucatus-violet hymenial pigment granules and secondary chemistry, and discuss the position of Violella relative to Calvitimela and Tephromela. We describe the new species Violella wangii T. Sprib. & Goffinet to accommodate a new species with roccellic acid from Bhutan, China, India and the Russian Far East. We also exclude Mycoblastus indicus Awasthi & Agarwal from the genus Mycoblastus and propose for it the new combination Malmidea indica (Awasthi & Agarwal) Hafellner & T. Sprib.

A new species, Terminalichus simplex sp. nov., is described based on adult females, deutonymphs and protonymphs, collected on Terminalia catappa L. (Combretaceae) from Thailand. The relationship of Terminalichus with other brevipalpine genera is discussed and a key to species of Terminalichus, Tenuilichus, Amblypalpus, Colopalpus and Priscapalpus is provided.

A new species of the genus Piestus Gravenhorst is described from Peru, P. chullachaqui sp. nov. (Cuzco). Photographs and drawings of the major diagnostic characters are provided. A key to Piestus species is modified to include the new species. New records are provided for Piestus angularis Fauvel, Piestus bicornis (Olivier), Piestus fronticornis (Dalman), Piestus lacordairei Laporte, Piestus longipennis (Fauvel), Piestus mexicanus Laporte, Piestus minutus Erichson, Piestus pennicornis Fauvel, Piestus spinosus (Fabricius), Piestus sulcatus Gravenhorst, Piestus surrufus Caron et al. and Piestus validus Sharp. Cladistic analysis is made to know the relationship of the P. chullachaqui sp. nov. within Piestus.

The Oriental leafhopper genus Riseveinus Li is redefined with the redescription of its type species Riseveinus sinensis (Jacobi), and descriptions of two new species: Riseveinus asymmetricus sp. nov. and Riseveinus compressus sp. nov. The female genitalia of the species of this genus are described for the first time. One new combination, Riseveinus albiveinus (Li) n. comb., is also proposed. Photographs and a key to all aforementioned species are provided. The relationship of this genus to related genera is discussed.

Begonia yizhouensis, a new species in Begonia sect. Coelocentrum (Begoniaceae) from Guangxi of China, is described and illustrated. Morphologically, it is similar to the adjacently distributed B. luochengensis, but clearly separated by its waxy leaves with glabrous or sometimes sparsely puberulous surfaces, larger variation in leaf color and maculation along the main veins, white to pinkish-white flowers and late flowering. Furthermore, molecular phylogenetic analysis indicated B. yizhouensis was a monophyletic lineage and was sister with B. luochengensis. The relationship of the new species and other similar species is also discussed. This new species is endemic to limestone hills in Guangxi and is assessed as “Endangered” (EN) according to the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria. Additionally, morphological and molecular evidence for B. yishanensis not being synonymous with B. porteri is presented.

The new species Anterastes davrazensis sp. n. (Orthoptera, Tettigoniidae) is described from south-eastern Turkey. Description, diagnosis and relationships of the new species were studied utilizing morphology, male calling songs and 16S rDNA sequence data from all species in the genus. Morphology and song syllable structure indicate A. davrazensis sp. n. is related to A. uludaghensis. Phylogenetic analyses based on representative haplotypes of 16S rDNA, using Sureyaella bella, Parapholidoptera distincta and Bolua turkiyae as outgroups, also suggested strong support to the relationship of these two species. A. davrazensis sp. n. differs from its closest relative A. uludaghensis by the higher number of stridulatory pegs and the song, consisting of irregular syllable groups.
