Abstract We compute the exclusive electroproduction, γ*p → Vp, of heavy quarkonia V to NLO in the collinear factorisation scheme, which has been formally proven for this process. The inclusion of an off-shell virtuality Q2 carried by the photon extends the photoproduction phase space of the exclusive heavy quarkonia observable to electroproduction kinematics. This process is relevant for diffractive scattering at HERA and the upcoming EIC, as well as at the proposed LHeC and FCC.

This work aimed to analyze the influence of stereotypes on discrimination against women. Specifically, it investigated the effects of the candidate gender (man vs. woman), the status regarding parental leave (exercising the right vs. waiving the right), and the stereotypes of competence, sociability, and morality regarding this discrimination. Consistent with previous studies, the candidate gender and the parental leave status interact and together influence discrimination against women (Study 1, F(1, 229)=22.45, p<.001). In turn, the triple interaction of candidate gender, parental leave status, and the three dimensions of stereotypes (Study 2, F4, 587)=2.73, p=.030, ƞ²=.018) revealed that the woman who took parental leave received more positive evaluations in the three stereotypical dimensions, in comparison with to the woman who waived her right to the leave, and, at the same time, she was poorly assessed in the competence dimension, compared to the man who exercises the same right (Study 2, N=312)

Light waves are too short and ordinary sound waves generally too long to permit experimental work on diffraction and scattering by a single small obstacle. An opportunity for such work however is presented in the case of ultrasonic waves. This paper describes an experimental investigation on the factors which determine the diffractive reflection and scattering of an ultrasonic wave train by plane circular opaque discs, and discusses the results. These are of special importance in the measurement of sound energy intensity by the torsion-pendulum method, for such measurements should always be corrected to allow for the effect of diffractive scattering of the energy by the measuring-pendulum vane. The correction factor will depend on the size and form of the pendula vanes employed and for circular vanes can be obtained directly from such curves as are shown in this paper as results of the investigation.

The LHC energies are those at which the asymptotic regime in hadron–hadron diffractive collisions (pp, πp, ππ) might be switched on. Based on results of the Dakhno–Nikonov eikonal model which is a generalization of the Good–Walker eikonal approach for a continuous set of channels, we present a picture for transformation of the constituent quark mode to the black disk one. In the black disk mode [Formula: see text], we have a growth of the logarithm squared type for total and elastic cross-sections, σ tot ~ ln 2 s and σ el ~ ln 2 s and [Formula: see text]-scaling for diffractive scattering and diffractive dissociation of hadrons. The diffractive dissociation cross-section grows as σD ~ ln s, σDD ~ ln s, and their relative contribution tends to zero: σD/σ tot → 0, σDD/σ tot → 0. Asymptotic characteristics of diffractive and total cross-sections are universal, and this results in the asymptotical equality of cross-sections for all types of hadrons (the Gribov universality). The energy scale for switching on the asymptotic mode is estimated for different processes.
