The modification of the naive potential model of the heavy meson is considered on the basis of the single-time prescription for the quark-meson form factor and the covariant choice of the quark relative momentum. The application of the model to the description of the semileptonic decays of the beauty meson allows one to determine the Isgur-Wise function slope ρ2≃0.94 and to extract the value |Vbc|=0.036±0.002 from the experimental data.

A model of the heavy meson, composed of constituent quarks, is considered. It allows one to calculate the semileptonic decay widths of B→D(*)eν and to extract the Kobayashi—Maskawa matrix element |Vbc|=0.033±0.003 from experimental data. The infinitely heavy quark limit is discussed.

We discuss the extension of the superflavor symmetry of doubly heavy baryons to states which contain an excited heavy diquark and we examine some of the consequences of this symmetry for the spectra of doubly heavy baryons and heavy mesons. We explore the ramifications of a proposed symmetry that relates heavy diquarks to doubly heavy mesons. We present a method for determining how the excitation energy of a system containing two heavy quarks will scale as one changes the strength of the interactions and the reduced mass of the system. We use this to derive consequences of the heavy diquark-doubly heavy meson symmetry. We compare these consequences to the results of a quark model as well as the experimental data for doubly and singly heavy mesons. We also discuss the possibility of treating the strange quark as a heavy quark and apply the ideas developed here to strange hadrons.

In this paper we have calculated transition magnetic moments and radiative decay widths of light and heavy mesons using a relativistic potential model of independent quarks with its parameters determined from a fit to the mass of ground state mesons in the strange, charm and bottom flavor sectors. The results are in agreement with the experimental data.

We give a review of the calculations of the masses of tetraquarks with two and four heavy quarks in the framework of the relativistic quark model based on the quasipotential approach and QCD. The diquark-antidiquark picture of heavy tetraquarks is used. The quasipotentials of the quark-quark and diquark-antidiquark interactions are constructed similarly to the previous consideration of mesons and baryons. Diquarks are considered in the colour triplet state. It is assumed that the diquark and antidiquark interact in the tetraquark as a whole and the internal structure of the diquarks is taken into account by the calculated form factor of the diquark-gluon interaction. All parameters of the model are kept fixed from our previous calculations of meson and baryon properties. A detailed comparison of the obtained predictions for heavy tetraquark masses with available experimental data is given. Many candidates for tetraquarks are found. It is argued that the structures in the di-J/ψ mass spectrum observed recently by the LHCb collaboration can be interpreted as ccc¯c¯ tetraquarks.

The alpha-decay half-lives of the 24 isotopes of Eu (Z = 63) nuclei in the region 130≤A≤153, have been studied systematically within the Coulomb and proximity potential model (CPPM). We have modified the assault frequency and re-determined the half-lives and they show a better agreement with the experimental value. We have also done calculations on the half-lives within the recently proposed Coulomb and proximity potential model for deformed nuclei (CPPMDN). The computed half-lives are compared with the experimental data and they are in good agreement. Using our model, we could also demonstrate the influence of the neutron shell closure at N = 82, in both parent and daughter nuclei, on the alpha-decay half-lives.
