We give a prediction of the Bs mixing reach (xs) for the first two years of CDF Run II. We mention the important samples, and their expected yields. If the experiment performs to our expectations, we expect either to measure Bs mixing, or to comprehensively rule out the Standard Model predictions.

AbstractWe investigate a speculative short-distance force, proposed to explain discrepancies observed between measurements of certain neutral current decays of B hadrons and their Standard Model predictions. The force derives from a spontaneously broken, gauged $$U(1)_{B_3-L_2}$$ U ( 1 ) B 3 - L 2 extension to the Standard Model, where the extra quantum numbers of Standard Model fields are given by third family baryon number minus second family lepton number. The only fields beyond those of the Standard Model are three right-handed neutrinos, a gauge field associated with $$U(1)_{B_3-L_2}$$ U ( 1 ) B 3 - L 2 and a Standard Model singlet complex scalar which breaks $$U(1)_{B_3-L_2}$$ U ( 1 ) B 3 - L 2 , a ‘flavon’. This simple model, via interactions involving a TeV scale force-carrying $$Z^\prime $$ Z ′ vector boson, can successfully explain the neutral current $$B-$$ B - anomalies whilst accommodating other empirical constraints. In an ansatz for fermion mixing, a combination of up-to-date $$B-$$ B - anomaly fits, LHC direct $$Z^\prime $$ Z ′ search limits and other bounds rule out the domain 0.15 $$\hbox {TeV}< M_{Z^\prime }<$$ TeV < M Z ′ < 1.9 TeV at the $$95\%$$ 95 % confidence level. For more massive $$Z^\prime $$ Z ′ s, the model possesses a flavonstrahlung signal, where pp collisions produce a $$Z^\prime $$ Z ′ and a flavon, which subsequently decays into two Higgs bosons.

The standard model predictions for CP violating hadronic decay asymmetries are presented in the form of probability distributions. From these distributions, it can be easily seen what the most likely values of these quantities are, which measurements would clearly be signs of new physics, and which values of the CP asymmetries would most constrain the parameters of the standard model.

CP violation in charm decays is expected to be very small in the Standard Model, at the level of 0.1% or less. A sizable excess of CP violation with respect to the Standard Model predictions could be a signature of new physics. We report on recent searches for CP violation in charm meson decays at BABAR and Belle experiments. In particular we report a lifetime ratio analysis of D0 → K+K−, π+π− with respect to D0 → K−π+ decays, which is sensitive to [Formula: see text] mixing and CP violation. We report also on searches for CPV in the 3-body D+ → K+K−π+ decay and for decay modes with a [Formula: see text] in the final state, such as [Formula: see text].

Using the low energy effective Hamiltonian with the generalized factorization, we calculate the new physics contributions to B→π+π-, Kπ and Kη′ in the topcolor-assisted-technicolor (TC2) model, and compare the results with the available data. By using [Formula: see text] preferred by the CLEO data of B→π+π-decay, we find that the new physics enhancements to B→ Kη′ decays are significant in size, ~ 50% with respect to the standard model predictions, insensitive to the variations of input parameters and hence provide a simple and plausible new physics interpretation for the observed unexpectedly large B→ Kη′ decay rates.

In some supersymmetric models, the gluino [Formula: see text] could be light and stable, and would hadronize to form R-hadrons. Data collected by the DELPHI detector at centre-of-mass energy from 189 to 202 GeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 384 pb -1 have been used to search for R-hadrons from stop decay. The observed number of events is in agreement with the Standard Model predictions. Results are presented in terms of excluded regions in the plane [Formula: see text]

Abstract The signals of the $$SO(5)\times U(1)$$SO(5)×U(1) gauge-Higgs unification model at the International Linear Collider are studied. In this model, Kaluza–Klein modes of the neutral gauge bosons affect fermion pair productions. The deviations of the forward–backward asymmetries of the $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \bar{b}b$$e+e-→b¯b, $$\bar{t}t$$t¯t processes from the standard model predictions are clearly seen by using polarised beams. The deviations of these values are predicted for two cases, the bulk mass parameters of quarks are positive and negative case.

New results on rare decays of B mesons and τ leptons are summarised. Measurement are generally in excellent agreement with the Standard Model predictions, the only exceptions being the polarisation of vector particles in B decays and the non-appearance of CP violation in B ± → K ±π0.
