Angular distributions of the double differential cross sections for the 48 Ca , 116 Cd (p, n) and the 48 Ti , 116 Sn (n, p) reactions were measured at 300 MeV. A multipole decomposition technique was applied to the spectra to extract the Gamow-Teller (GT) transition strengths. In both (n, p) spectra beyond 8 MeV excitation energy extra B( GT +) strengths which are not predicted by either shell model or QRPA calculations. This extra B( GT +) strengths certainly contribute to the nuclear matrix element of the 2ν2β-decay.

Angular distributions of the differential cross sections and analysing powers were measured at an energy of 4.6 MeV. The results are compared with the distorted wave Born approximation predictions for two-nucleon transfer and for a deuteron-cluster transfer. The agreement is qualitative at best, and a discussion of alternatives to improve it is presented.

Double differential cross sections at six angles ranging from 45° to 143° have been measured for the 12C(e,p)e′ reaction. The proton energy ranged from 15.6 to 17.2 MeV at an incident electron energy of 200 MeV. At the backward angles our results are in good agreement with data reported by Vysotskaya and Afanas'ev but for forward angles the results are lower.

The 31P(d,n)32S reaction has been studied at deuteron energies of 4.0 and 5.45 MeV. Neutron energies were measured by time of flight. Absolute differential cross sections of seven levels in 32S have been measured and compared with the theoretical predictions of both the DWBA and compound statistical theories. Analysis of the angular distributions yielded lP values and absolute spectroscopic factors. These results have been compared with those from other experiments and shell model predictions.

Angular distributions of the D(d, n)3He reaction have been measured for incident deuteron energies of 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26 MeV. The data provide no evidence for the proposed broad level in 4He at approximately 30 MeV.

Elastic and inelastic scattering of protons on 7Li, 9Be, and 12C have been studied, using the 100-MeV proton beam from the McGill synchrocyclotron. Differential cross sections for the various groups of scattered protons were measured over an angular range of 5° to 90° (lab). For proton groups resulting from a quadrupole excitation in the target nucleus, the angular distribution was found to increase at scattering angles less than 10°. Angular distributions corresponding to an octupole excitation were observed to decrease at small angles. The results have been compared with existing data in this energy region.
