Measurements of the magnetic susceptibility of a powdered sample of VTe in the temperature range 90 - 700 K, and of the a.c. electrical conductivity (σ), thermoelectric power (θ) and dielectric constant (ε′) of pressed pellets of the compound in the temperature range 300 -1100 K are reported. The compound is found to be antiferromagnetic with Neel temperature 420 ± 5 K. The effective paramagnetic moment and paramagnetic Curie temperature are found to be 1.6 μB and - 250 K, respectively. The dependence of σ, θ and ε′ on temperature shows no anomaly at the Neel temperature and is indicative of the metallic nature of the compound.

In this paper, thin films were made of 10-4 mol/l of Coumarin 4 laser dye dissolved in ethanol, 0.3 g of PVP polymer and 0.04 g of Al2O3 nanoparticles. The electrical properties such as dielectric constant, phase velocity of laser photons inside the film, the film permittivity and permeability, medium impedance, electrical conductivity, skin depth, the electrical response time, magnetic susceptibility and dielectric time have been studied for the prepared thin films at two different Er:YAG laser wavelengths of 1645nm and 1617 nm based on various laser powers in one time and with changed laser exposure periods in the other time. It is observed that the highest laser power consolidates each value of dielectric constant, dielectric time, electrical conductivity, the electrical response time, magnetic susceptibility and the permeability of film because of increasing the abundant energy in films within laser irradiation. The most important conclusion is that the electrical properties were much higher for the prepared thin films irradiated with 1645nm Er: YAG laser wavelength than for those irradiated with 1617nm laser wavelength.

ABSTRACTThe electron-donating [n]radialenes (n=3,4,5) were prepared with the aim of developing both new type of organic (super)conductors and unprecedented organic/molecular ferromagnets. The charge-transfer (CT) complexes of 1,3-dithiole[4]radialene with TCNQ and of 1,3-benzodithiole-[4]radialene with TCNQF4 and DDQ showed comparatively high electrical conductivities in compressed pellets. The single crystals of PF6 and CIO4 salts of 1,3-benzodithiole[4]radialene radical cation revealed temperature change of electrical conductivity characteristic of a semiconductor. The magnetic properties of the bis(trifluoroacetate)salt of thioxanthene[3]-radialene dication and of the CT complexes of 1,3-benzodithiole[5]-radialene with DDQ, TCNQF4, and hexacyanohexamethylenecyclopropane, were also investigated from the ESR and/or magnetic susceptibility measurements.

New NH4MIIMIIIF6 and MIIMIIIF5 ・ 2H2O compounds with the pyrochlore and weberite structures, respectively, are reported. Structures of NH4CoCrF6, AlZnF5 ・ 2H2O, and GaMnF5 ・ 2H2O were refined using X-ray diffraction data from single crystals. The structures of MgIIAlIIIF5 ・H2O and NH4MgIIAlIIIF6 were refined from powder X-ray diffraction data. Magnetic susceptibility data indicates antiferromagnetic ordering in NH4CoIIVIIIF6 at 7 K but no ordering in NH4CoIICrIIIF6 down to 4.2 K. Electrical conductivity presumably due to protons was observed in MgAlF5 ・ (H2O)2.
