Online education helped resume learning that had come to a momentary and uncertain pause with the onset of COVID-19 pandemic across the globe. Since then, learning in many educational institutions continued through synchronous and asynchronous modes, with teaching being undertaken remotely on digital platforms. In this large-scale migration towards online mode of curriculum delivery induced by the pandemic, the institutional learning management system (LMS) had a critical role to play in ensuring uninterrupted learning and student engagement. By drawing heavily from extant works, learnings from MOOC platforms, observations from the LMS applications in corporate training, the present article synthesis the extant literature on how the effective use of LMS can make the learning process interactive, student centric, catering to the needs of diverse learners in higher education.

The Covid-19 pandemic that has occurred in Indonesia since March 2020 indirectly forced educators to switch from face-to-face teaching activities to online activities. Seeing the unrest experienced by educators, especially teachers and lecturers, who are not familiar with online teaching activities, the Online Learning Communication Science study program from Universitas Pelita Harapan held community service activities with the theme of digital literacy that can be followed by educators throughout Indonesia. Google Classroom is a medium that is raised in this activity because of the ease provided through its features even though Google Classroom cannot yet be categorized as a Learning Management System. Moreover, Google Classroom can be obtained for free and can be used through smart devices or computers that have an internet connection. With large-scale social restrictions (PSBB), this activity was held online using the digital platform Zoom Meeting. The result of this activity is that educators experience improved ability and understanding to carry out online teaching activities using Google Classroom such as creating classes, assignments, and quizzes, sharing teaching materials to conduct evaluations in the hope that educators are ready to do #ngajardarirumah.

An array of teaching tools have been developed enormously today sparking interest for educators in their instruction. Edmodo, which is also one of the CALL applications that can be accessed online both from computer and mobile telephone is one option for teachers and students and can be operated to post various things related to EFL teaching-learning process. However, many educators are reluctant to embed with them pedagogical function which coming along in the use of Edmodo. This research employed open-ended questionnaire which is spread to English Language Education ULM students who are taking Extensive Reading course. This research contributes to picture out perception in implementing Edmodo as Web-Quest as well Learning Management System (LMS) in online classroom instructional activities. The result of this study shows that the involvement of Edmodo to material delivery still does not encounter the predicted expectation. The limited storing material in the application and lack of feedback of the task through the media are the reasons of the barrier. In conclusion, the use of Edmodo needs to be developed along with the mindset of students centered activities.

This study examines the design process of a blended learning environment using a learning management system to transform Basic English courses into the web-based distance learning format in the School of Foreign Languages at a large scale research university in Turkey. The research design was based on design-based research and the ASSURE, which is an instructional design model. A design plan was created based on the needs indicated by the analysis, and the necessary materials were developed and transferred to the learning management system. A usability test of the environment was conducted for increasing efficiency of environment, facilitating learning, increasing productivity and making the environment more user-friendly. As a result, an environment was designed where instructors can create the desired multimedia materials (videos, exercises, quizzes). Students can access these materials, discuss with each other and instructor (chat, discussion) and assess their learning outcomes (weekly homework, quizzes, games).
