We present a framework for the event semantic retrieval of cultural tourism. Nowadays, information and communication technologies are ubiquitous and pervasive and have greatly promoted the development of cultural tourism. Cultural tourism should utilize these technologies to improve a sense of participation and experience for cultural tourists by sorting out domain-specific cultural knowledge from tourism attractions systematically, building bridges between tourism resources and cultural connotation naturally and presenting the cultural changes behind tourism resources vividly. To the end, we present a complete framework that is suitable to event retrieval of cultural tourism, helping cultural tourists learn culture in all directions and in depth quickly and easily before their cultural tours, and local government create tourism cards through the dissemination of culture connotation as well. Our main inspiration is that story-telling would be an effective form of acceptance by cultural tourists to spread the culture behind tourism resources. Concretely, our framework includes data acquisition and preprocessing, data organization and processing, and data visualization components. The data acquisition and preprocessing component is responsible for collecting historical event texts and fusing text knowledge. The data organization and processing component enables an intuitive view on properties and relations of the event elements in terms of defined event ontology for cultural tourism and supports event semantic retrieval. The data visualization component provides a knowledge navigation through dynamic display and an interactive interface with modification function. We have conducted event semantic retrieval of Minnan culture and verified the feasibility and effectiveness of the framework.

The paper examined the spatial distribution and characteristics of ethno-cultural tourism resources available in different ethnic communities in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The sampled communities are Ham, Fulani, Hausa, Kagoro, Adara and Gbagyi, field observations were also carried out for holistic resource inventory in the ethnic communities. Documentary data were obtained from desk review method; information on tourism resources available in each ethnic community.  The findings of the study reveal that the ethno-cultural resources were characterized into three groups that are made up of archaeological/historical monuments, cultural and festival activities, and artifacts; while the nature-based tourism, resources were also sub-divided into geomorphic and hydrological features. The study recommends that  There is the need for private public partnership (PPP) to foster visible ethno-cultural tourism development projects (tourism potential development, provision of social amenities to enhance competitive advantage and enlightenment campaigns), since the local and state Governments (basically in terms of infrastructural developing and policy issue that will providing an enabling environment for tourism projects to strive) cannot do all or meet all the yearnings of the people.

The demonstration system of tobacco monitoring by remote sensing was made with use of the characteristics and advantages of 3S technology. This paper describes the function of the system design ideas and main display functions such as estimation planting area of tobacco, monitoring tobacco growing and yield estimation of tobacco. The key technologies of the system are data acquisition, preprocessing and data organization.

The article presents the results of qualitative sociological research of information and communication technologies influence on social behavior and lifestyle of older Internet users conducted by a multidisciplinary group of the Laboratory of social and economic behavior of The Institute of Social and Economic Studies of Population, The Russian Academy of Sciences. The study involved Internet users of retirement age from 56 to 89 years. The survey was conducted by in-depth interview. The main changes in the life of the Internet users of the older generation were revealed and main characteristics of the new digital techno style of life were determined: use of new forms of textual, visual and audiovisual communication for interaction; obtaining cultural knowledge and necessary information; buying goods and services and paying bills from home; extensive use of state services online; the gradual move away from print media; using “smart” things. The analysis of respondents ‘ communication showed that older people can be divided into three groups: those for whom communication has become predominantly electronic; those who persistently prefer live communication, and those for whom electronic communication is additional to live communication.

This article aims to study the potential of archeology as a tourism resource in the field of cultural tourism, given that good tourism management of archeological sites can attract a larger number of visitors and contribute to the socio-economic development of the areas involved. Specifically, it will examine the role of information sources in the management of such sites, focusing on the case of Segóbriga Archeological Park, Cuenca, Spain. Based on the analysis of the results obtained from surveys of tourists to this destination, this article makes a series of management recommendations concerning the importance of disseminating and promoting this type of tourism resource through various information sources.
