We report a 57-year-old patient with birdshot chorioretinopathy (BCR) who was treated with bilateral Ozurdex injections. The patient's vitritis resolved, and visual acuity improved following this treatment. This is only the second case report focused on the treatment of BCR with Ozurdex and the first to report its use for treating vitritis. A concise review of the literature on the use of intravitreal steroids for this disease is provided. This case serves to report the clinical usefulness of Ozurdex in treating posterior vitritis associated with BCR even in the absence of macular edema.

Central vision loss, photopsia, floaters and macular edema in a highly myopic patient can easily be misrelated to high myopia complications. However, in atypical cases, detailed examination along with a thorough diagnostic is required to establish the right diagnosis, which is often beyond the limits of the condition originally considered.

Abstract Aim The aim of this article is to report a case of bilateral multiple impacted supernumerary teeth. A discussion of possible mechanisms of development is also presented along with a concise review of the literature. Background Supernumerary teeth occur in the context of various scenarios in the primary and the permanent dentition. Multiple supernumerary teeth are a rare finding especially in the absence of associated syndrome or disease. Report A case of bilateral multiple impacted supernumerary teeth localized to the mandibular premolar region is reported. Some of the supernumerary teeth as well as the erupted premolars had persistent open apices. Coronal malformation of the right maxillary first premolar was another interesting finding. There was an absence of any concomitant disease. Summary The aforementioned combination of findings has not been reported previously. The anatomical, geometrical, and spatial relationships of supernumerary teeth with their erupted equivalents may shed light on some controversial aspects of the etiology. Purpose: To describe a case of cystoid macular edema (CME) developing after posterior chamber toric phakic intraocular lens (PIOL) implantation. Methods: Case report. Results: A 33-year-old male underwent implantation of toric implantable collamer lenses (ICL), a new generation of PIOLs, for both eyes. Preoperative best spectacle-corrected distance visual acuity (BCVA) was 20/25 in the right eye and 20/32 in the left eye, with a manifest refraction of -9.25 -4.0 × 4° and -9.75 -4.25 × 171°, respectively. On day 1 postoperatively, the left eye had an uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) of 20/60 with a refraction of +2.0 -3.5 × 11°. Despite the rotation of the PIOL, the cylindrical refractive component persisted in the left eye with a refraction of +2.0 -3.5 × 11°. Two weeks after the initial surgery, he presented with a decrease in his visual acuity in the left eye. The UDVA and BCVA were both 20/100 in the left eye with a refraction of +2.0 -4.25 × 3°. Dilated fundus examination and macular optical coherence tomography revealed a CME in the left eye. Following topical nepafenac therapy and explantation of the ICL, we observed a complete resolution of the CME at 3 months with an improvement in BCVA to 20/32 in the left eye. Conclusions: To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of postsurgical CME following toric ICL implantation. In cases of phakic eyes with an intact posterior capsule, postsurgical CME can develop, thus highlighting the purpose of this report.

Purpose: This article investigates the optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus autofluorescence imaging findings in birdshot chorioretinopathy (BSCR) and their association with visual acuity (VA). Methods: In a retrospective, cross-sectional study, we evaluated OCT images for changes in retinal structure including cystoid macular edema (CME), epiretinal membrane, and outer retinal lesions. We assessed autofluorescence images for hypoautofluorescent and hyperautofluorescent changes and noted the distribution of the lesions. Demographic data and VA at the time of imaging were also collected. Associations between OCT and autofluorescence findings and logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution VA were tested using linear regression. Results: We conducted a chart review of 80 eyes from 40 patients with BSCR. Outer retinal lesions were found on OCT in 28 of 80 eyes (35%) and disruption of the outer segment ellipsoid zone (EZ) occurred in 23 eyes (28.7%). Macular hypoautofluorescent lesions were more common than hyperautofluorescent lesions, present in 58.8% and 13% of eyes, respectively. The presence of outer retinal lesions on OCT was significantly associated with reduced VA ( P = .006) as was EZ disruption ( P = .003). These associations remained significant after accounting for the presence of macular edema. There was a trend toward association of macular hypoautofluorescent lesions with decreased vision, although it was not statistically significant ( P = .17). Conclusions: The association of outer retinal lesions with decreased VA suggests a mechanism of central vision loss that is distinct from CME and may provide an additional objective finding to monitor disease activity in BSCR patients.

Purpose: This case report discusses the management of a patient with a superior chorioretinal coloboma-associated retinal detachment (RD), including surgical management, along with a review of the literature. Methods: A case report is presented. Results: A 58-year-old man presented with a chronic RD of the right eye that was symptomatic for approximately 1 year prior to presentation. On examination, he was found to have a macula-off RD associated with superior chorioretinal coloboma. He underwent 23-gauge pars plana vitrectomy with membrane peel, endolaser, and perfluoropropane (14%) gas tamponade. Three months after his surgery, his best-corrected visual acuity in his right eye was 20/250 distance and 20/80 near, and his retina remained attached. Conclusions: This case report describes surgical management of a superior chorioretinal coloboma-associated RD.
