This paper treats the modelisation of a new three phase character high voltage supply (HV) for industrial microwave generators with N=2 magnetrons per phase. This alimentation is based on the presentation of an equivalent p circuit model of a newly dimensioned high voltage transformer. Each phase of the three phase system supplies two parallel cell voltage doublers and current stabilizer. Each of these cells in turn supplies one magnetron 800Watts / 2.45GHz. This power supply is a star connection of three identical models of the single-phase power for N=2 magnetrons. The simulation under EMTP (Electro Magnetic Transients Program) in nominal conditions allows concluding that theoretical results are adjacent to the experimental measurements. Furthermore, a failure study of six magnetron of the microwave generator is also processed. The results permit to observe that the interaction between magnetrons dosn’t influence the nominal operation of the system.

This paper describes the development and implementation of a digital simulation model of a three-phase transformer relates to shunt core transformer, which used to drive magnetron tubes in the microwave. The focus of this study is based on modeling of a new shell-type of three limbs three-phase transformer. The model uses to feed two magnetrons instead of one magnetron per phase. The proposed model is established on the simultaneous analysis of a duo electromagnetic lumped component equivalent circuit. This latter was implemented in a MATLAB environment under rated conditions. The results obtained from the application of the analytical method are provided results in conformity to the experimental tests in the case of single phase high voltage power supply for one magnetron.

Abstract This original paper deals with a new approach for the study of behavior in nonlinear regime of a new three-phase high voltage power supply for magnetrons, used for the microwave generators in industrial applications. The design of this system is composed of a new three-phase leakage flux transformer supplying by phase a cell, composed of a capacitor and a diode, which multiplies the voltage and stabilizes the current. Each cell. in turn, supplies a single magnetron. An equivalent model of this transformer is developed taking into account the saturation phenomenon and the stabilization process of each magnetron. Each inductance of the model is characterized by a non linear relation between flux and current. This model was tested by EMTP software near the nominal state. The theoretical results were compared to experimental measurements with a good agreement. Relative to the current device, the new systemprovides gains of size, volume, cost of implementation and maintenance which make it more economical.

This paper treats the study of the equivalent magnetic flux leakage transformer core type; it uses three-phase high voltage power supplies for a magnetron in each phase. This special transformer feeds a voltage doubler, a current stabilizer cell in series per phase. It ensures the anodic current stabilization in each magnetron by saturation of its magnetic circuit. It has additional leakage flux, which protects the magnetron against any eventual voltage variation; it is considered the basic element of this power supply. The simulation results with MATLAB-Simulink environment of the electrical operation of this power supply device were consistent with the experimental laboratory tests in the case of single-phase high voltage for one magnetron. This results obtained shows the feasibility of the proposed simulation model

In order to validating the new three-phase High voltage power supply for microwave generators with one magnetron by phase, this paper presents a new validation approach to evaluate the proposed model with several evaluations. This approach is based on the calculation and measurement of the performance and the power factor of this new three-phase power supply, also the study of the operation of this new system in case of failure. The design of this power supply is composed of new three-phase transformer with magnetic shunt, supplying by phase a voltage doubler cell composed of a capacitor and a diode. Each cell in turn, supplies a single magnetron. In this paper we have presented the new three-phase transformer by its equivalent model; it’s a π quadruple model composed of storable inductances able to translating the nonlinear saturation phenomena for stabilization of the magnetron current. The voltage and current curves obtained by simulation with MATLAB SIMULINK are in good conformity with those obtained by experimental of conventional power supply using a single phase transformer for one magnetron. The same curves will allow us to plot the instantaneous power absorbed by each magnetron. This leads to determine the average power emitted by each magnetron, and establish the balance of the power microwave generator by computing its performance which is compared to that obtained from experimental. After that we will compute the power factor of this power supply and we will study its operation in case of failure of one or two magnetrons.
