Dipcadi krishnadevarayae B.R.P.Rao (Asparagaceae), a new species from the Sri Krishnadevaraya University campus, Anantapuramu of Andhra Pradesh, India, is described and illustrated.  The novel species is distinct from all other species of Dipcadi in having distinctly 6-lobed stigma and shows close affinity to D. serotinum (L.) Medik. and D. montanum (Dalzell) Baker.  It differs from both allies in having a combination of up to 50cm long linear leaves, 85cm long 16–24 flowered scapes, greenish-yellow flowers, dark green band outside the outer tepals, distinctly 6-lobed stigma and up to 10 seeds in each locule.

As currently circumscribed, Croton section Geiseleria comprises ca. 80 species and is one of the three largest American sections of the genus. During studies of this section in midwestern Brazil, we discovered several specimens in the highlands of the state of Goiás and Federal District that correspond to a new species. Croton ramosissimus is herein described and illustrated. The morphological affinities, preliminary conservation status, and period of flowering and fruiting of this species are also presented. The novel species is more morphologically similar to C. tamberlikii, and differs from it by having diffuse and densely ramified stems, leaves with prominent venation on the abaxial surface, minute bracts (up to 2.7 mm long), villous stamens, and oblongoid seeds without spots, among other characteristics. A key to identify 22 species of Croton section Geiseleria that occur in the state of Goiás and Federal District is also provided, with images for 20 of them.

Silene lulakabadensis Heidari, F. Ghahrem. & Assadi is described as a new species from Zanjan Province, Iran. The new species is a dark green plant, perennial and woody at the base, that was collected on marl soil slopes at 2100 m. It is believed to be closely related to S. eriocalycina Boiss. from section Auriculatae (Boiss.) Schischk. but is a smaller plant, with much shorter internodes, and pinkish-white retuse to emarginate petals with very small or no scales. It is a very rare plant and its conservation status is assessed as Critically Endangered.

A new plant species from the Amazon in Peru, Aniba inaequabilis, is here described. The new species belongs to a group of Aniba species that has papillose leaves, but differs from all the species described in this group by the combination of stamens with few sparse hairs, stamens of whorl I and II with different shapes and the glands at the base of the inner stamens fused. In this paper the new species is described and illustrated and its relationship with other species of Aniba with papillose leaves is discussed.

A new species of Lophopogon (Poaceae), L. prasannae is described from dry deciduous forest of Ananthapuramu district, Andhra Pradesh, India. This new species shows morphological similarities with L. tridentatus and L. kingii but differs in certain characters, which are discussed below. A detailed description, photographs and taxonomic key are provided for easy identification of the species.

In this paper, we report a new asexual-morph taxon belonging to the family Cordycipitaceae (Hypocreales), which is associated with a sexual morph of an ophioceras-like taxon on submerged wood collected from Baoshan, Yunnan, China. Morphologically, this new taxon is similar to known asexual morphs of Lecanicillium and characterized by conidiophores arising from hyaline hyphae, with gregarious, ellipsoid to ovoid, aseptate conidia. Phylogenetic analyses of a combined LSU, SSU, tef1-α and ITS sequence dataset positions our taxon in Cordycipitaceae and close to Lecanicillium sp. (CBS 639.85) and L. primulinum. Lecanicillium subprimulinum is introduced as a new species with support from molecular data.

Tripogon uma-ganeshii, a new species of Poaceae from the Horsley hills of Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, India, is described and illustrated. The new species is allied to Tripogon tirumalae Chorghe et al., and T. trifidus Munro ex Stapf, in having 2-lobed lemma and median awn longer than the lemma length; but differs from Tripogon tirumalae, in length of leaf blades and spikes, number of florets in spikelets, size of the glumes, lemmas and paleas. It differs from Tripogon trifidus, in height of the culms, nature of leaf sheath, length of leaf blades, number of florets in spikelets and size of the glumes.

Sphaerosporella microspora is described as a new species based on morphological and molecular data. It is characterized by its sessile apothecia, surface smooth, ectal excipulum composed of cylindrical and angular cells, globose and smooth ascospores, and unmodified paraphyses. A detailed description, photographs of the fruit body and microstructure diagrams are provided.

The project ANDEEP was designed to fill gaps in the knowledge of the biodiversity of the Southern Ocean deep sea. Threeoceanographic cruises (ANDEEP I, II and III) were undertaken in 2002 and 2005 in the Atlantic Sector of the SouthernOcean. Hundreds of samples were collected from 40 stations with water depths ranging from 748 to 6,348 m. Investiga-tions were carried out on a broad range of taxa, including bacteria, meio-, macroand megafauna. Approximately 5000ostracods were collected, which included 29 specimens of Doloria (Dolorietta) subgen. nov.The subdivision of the genus Doloria Skogsberg, 1920 into two subgenera, Doloria (Doloria) and the novel subgenusDoloria (Dolorietta), is based on differences in the structures of the fifth limb, the armature of the sensory bristle on the5th segment of the antennula, and the number of bristles on the 4th endite of the sixth limb. Four new species in the newsubgenus were identified from the ANDEEP samples. The new subgenus and the four novel species are described andillustrated. Two of these new species are named Doloria (Dolorietta) antarctica sp. nov. and Doloria (Dolorietta) sextafiliformis sp. nov., but the other two species are left in open nomenclature (i.e. Doloria (Dolorietta) sp. nov. 1 and Doloria(Dolorietta) sp. nov. 2) because only juveniles were found in our material. Keys to the subgenera and species of Doloria are provided.
