Phylogenies of Ceriporiopsis and related genera were studied using DNA sequences from the ITS+28S nuclear ribosomal RNA gene regions. Two species, Ceriporiopsis alboaurantia and C. semisupina, are described as new to science. Ceriporiopsis alboaurantia is characterized by annual growth habit, resupinate basidiocarps with white pore surface when fresh, turning to apricot-orange to dark orange upon drying, monomitic hyphal system with clamped generative hyphae encrusted with pale yellow crystals, ellipsoid and thin-walled basidiospores (4–5 ´ 3–3.3 µm), and plenty of pale-yellow to pale-orange oily substances in subiculum and trama. Ceriporiopsis semisupina is distinguished by annual, effused-reflexed basidiocarps with greyish brown to reddish brown pore surface, monomitic hyphal system with clamped generative hyphae bearing crystalline incrustation, long-clavate basidia, ellipsoid and thin-walled basidiospores (4–4.5 ´ 3–3.3 µm). Like previous study, the phylogenetic analysis presented here also showed that Ceriporiopsis is not monophyletic and the sampled species were grouped in four clades, including phlebia clade, residual polyporoid clade, tyromyces clade and gelatoporia clade.

Grammothele and Theleporus have a shallow pore surface, which makes them morphologically close to corticioid fungi. However, from a phylogenetic perspective, they are polyphyletic genera within the core polyporoid clade of the Polyporales. Eight specimens with a shallow pore surface from Hainan, southern China, were morphologically and phylogenetically studied. Among them, one was determined as Grammothele denticulata, four were identified as Theleporus membranaceus, and three are described as Grammothele hainanensis. G. hainanensis is characterized by the annual and resupinate basidiocarps with poroid to irpicoid hymenophore, a dimitic hyphal system with clamped generative hyphae and weakly dextrinoid skeletal hyphae, the presence of cystidioles, hyphal pegs and dendrohyphidia, and cylindrical, hyaline and thin-walled basidiospores. It is closely related to G. quercina in phylogeny. Morphologically, G. quercina differs in producing perennial basidiocarps with cream to pale greyish and larger pores. The morphological differences among the new species and other species were analyzed.

Two new species, Xylodon bambusinus and X. xinpingensis, are proposed based on morphological and molecular evidences. Both species share the annual growth habit, resupinate basidiomata and monomitic hyphal system with clamped, colorless generative hyphae, smooth, thin-walled basidiospores, but X. bambusinus is characterized by the smooth to tuberculate hymenial surface, presence of capitate and fusiform cystidia, broad ellipsoid basidiospores, while X. xinpingensis by the reticulate hymenophore with cream hymenial surface, and subglobose basidiospores (4.5–6 × 3.5–5 µm). Sequences of ITS and LSU nrRNA gene regions of the studied samples were generated, and phylogenetic analyses were performed with maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony and Bayesian inference methods. The phylogenetic analyses based on molecular data of ITS and ITS+nLSU sequences showed that X. bambusinus was sister to X. subclavatus, while X. xinpingensis grouped with X. astrocystidiatus and X. paradoxus. The nLSU dataset revealed that X. bambusinus grouped with X. asperus and X. brevisetus with lower supports, and that X. xinpingensis grouped with X. astrocystidiatus and X. paradoxus and then with X. rimosissimus without supports. Both morphological and molecular evidences confirmed the placement of two new species in Xylodon. Description and figures from the new species and a key to the known species of Xylodon from China are presented.

A new species of Fistulina, F. tasmanica sp. nov., is described and illustrated from Tasmania in Australia. Fistulina tasmanica is distinguished by its pileate and fleshy basidiomata with rose pore surface, fibrous context, separated tubes with small pores (6–7 per mm), a monomitic hyphal system with only clamped generative hyphae, subellipsoid to ellipsoid basidiospores (5.4–6 × 3.4–4 μm) which are negative in Melzer’s reagent and cotton blue. Phylogenetic analyses inferred from the internal transcribed spacer regions (ITS) and the large subunit of nuclear ribosomal RNA gene (nLSU) sequences also confirmed that F. tasmanica is a new member within Fistulina.

Two new species of Pythium, namely P. subinflatum and P. xuzhouense, from soybean (Glycine max) in southern China are described based on their morphology and molecular phylogenetic analyses inferred from the internal transcribed spacer region of the ribosomal RNA gene and mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene. Pythium subinflatum is characterized by globose to sub-globose or ovoid hyphal swellings, filamentous inflated sporangia, smooth oogonia, mostly diclinous antheridia, elongated along the oogonial stalk, subcircular, subglobose or fist-shaped antheridial cells, and aplerotic and slightly thick-walled oospores (2–3.5 µm); P. xuzhouense differs from other species in the genus by filamentous or lobulated sporangia, smooth oogonia, mostly diclinous, sometimes monoclinous antheridia, subclavate, falcate or semicircle to subcircular antheridial cells, and plerotic or nearly plerotic and thin-walled oospores (0.5–1.5 µm). In addition, the two new species are compared to closely related Pythium species regarding their phylogenetic positions and morphological features.

Two new wood-inhabiting fungi, Mycorrhaphium subadustumsp. nov. and Trullella conifericolasp. nov., are proposed and described from Asia based on ITS, nrLSU and tef1 molecular phylogeny and morphological characteristics. Mycorrhaphium subadustum is characterized by a stipitate basidiocarp, velutinate pileal surface concentrically zoned, hydnoid hymenophore, a dimitic hyphal system in spine trama and monomitic in context, absence of gloeocystidia, presence of cystidioles and the non-amyloid, cylindrical to ellipsoid basidiospores. Trullella conifericola is characterized by a laterally stipitate basidiocarp with flabelliform to semicircular pileus, hirtellous pileal surface with appressed coarse hair and concentrically zoned and sulcate, tiny pores (10–12 per mm), a dimitic hyphal system, absence of any type of cystidia, short clavate basidia and thin-walled, smooth, cylindrical to allantoid basidiospores. Phylogenetic analyses based on a three-marker dataset were performed using maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference methods. The two new species formed isolated lineages with full support in Steccherinaceae. The distinguishing characters of the two new species as well as allied species are discussed, and a key to species of Mycorrhaphium is provided.

Two new wood-inhabiting fungal species, Steccherinum tenuissimum and S. xanthum spp. nov. are described based on a combination of morphological features and molecular evidence. Steccherinum tenuissimum is characterized by an annual growth habit, resupinate basidiomata with an odontioid hymenial surface, a dimitic hyphal system with clamped generative hyphae, strongly encrusted cystidia and basidiospores measuring 3–5 × 2–3.5 μm. Steccherinum xanthum is characterized by odontioid basidiomata and a monomitic hyphal system with generative hyphae bearing clamp connections and covering by crystals, colourless, thin-walled, smooth, IKI–, CB–and has basidiospores measuring 2.7–5.5 × 1.8–4.0 μm. Sequences of the ITS and nLSU nrRNA gene regions of the studied samples were generated, and phylogenetic analyses were performed with maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony and Bayesian inference methods. The phylogenetic analyses based on molecular data of ITS + nLSU sequences showed that two new Steccherinum species felled into the residual polyporoid clade. Further investigation was obtained for more representative taxa in Steccherinum based on ITS + nLSU sequences, which demonstrated that S. tenuissimum and S. xanthum were sister to S. robustius with high support (100% BP, 100% BS and 1.00 BPP).

The phylogeny of Amauroderma and related genera were studied using DNA sequences from the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and 28S nuclear ribosomal RNA gene regions. Amauroderma concentricum sp. nov. is described. The species is characterized by the yellowish brown to reddish brown pileal surface with concentric zones, a white pore surface unchanged when bruised, single to multiple stipes, small pores (4–5 per mm), and subglobose to globose and double-walled basidiospores, 8–9.2 × 7.2–8 µm. The phylogenetic analysis presented here confirmed that Amauroderma as traditionally accepted is not monophyletic.

Luteoporia is proposed as a new genus in Polyporales based on morphological characters and molecular data. The genus is typified by L. albomarginata sp. nov. which is characterized by an annual growth habit, resupinate basidiocarps with yellow pores, a monomitic hyphal system with clamp connections, tramal hyphae with swollen tips projecting out of hymenium, and hyaline, thin-walled, oblong-ellipsoid basidiospores. Phylogeny of L. albomarginata and its related species was inferred from ITS and nLSU rDNA sequences, and the genus belongs to the Meruliaceae.

A new polypore, Antrodia yunnanensis, collected from southwestern China, is described and illustrated based on morphological characteristics and molecular evidence. It is characterized by annual, resupinate basidiocarps with greyish blue to dark greyish blue pore surface upon drying, round to angular pores measuring 2–3 per mm, a dimitic hyphal system with clamped generative hyphae, subicular hyphae bearing fine crystals, and cylindrical, thin-walled, smooth basidiospores measuring 7–9.9 × 2.5–3.1 µm. Molecular phylogeny inferred from ITS and nLSU sequence data showed that samples of A. yunnanensis formed a distinctive lineage in Antrodia sensu lato, and it nested a sister group with A. tropica.

Fuscoporia (Hymenochaetaceae) is characterized by annual to perennial, resupinate to pileate basidiocarps, a dimitic hyphal system, presence of hymenial setae, and hyaline, thin-walled, smooth basidiospores. Phylogenetic analyses based on the nLSU and a combined ITS, nLSU and RPB2 datasets of 18 species of Fuscoporia revealed two new lineages that are equated to two new species; Fuscoporia ramulicolasp. nov. grouped together with F. ferrea, F. punctatiformis, F. subferrea and F. yunnanensis with a strong support; Fuscoporia acutimarginatasp. nov. formed a strongly supported lineage distinct from other species. The individual morphological characters of the new species and their related species are discussed. A key to Chinese species of Fuscoporia is provided.
