A new species of Miconia sect. Miconia subsection Seriatiflorae. was collected in Igapó Forest from the Purus-Madeira interfluve, in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. This new species, Miconia suberosa, can be distinguished from other species in the subsection by a variety of morphological features, namely: (i) treelet habit; (ii) deeply fissured bark with a thick cork; (iii) long dendritic hairs with short arms on young branches, inflorescences and leaves; (iv) petiolated leaves with rounded to obtuse bases, and ciliate margins, congested at the branch apices; and, (v) truncated stigmas.

ABSTRACT A new species of Sarcofahrtiopsis Hall, 1933, S. terezinhae sp. nov., is described based on male specimens collected in traps baited with rotting crabs in a mangrove forest in the state of Pará, eastern Brazilian Amazon. This species differs from congeneric species in having vesica with a row of toe-like projections. We provide a key to the species of the genus.

A new species of the reticulatus species group, C. castelloni Santarém and Felippe-Bauer, is described and illustrated based on female specimens from the state of Amazonas, Brazil. A systematic key, wing photographs and table with numerical characters of females and a synopsis of 24 species of the Culicoides reticulatus group are presented. This paper presents further new records for seven species of the reticulatus group.

A new species of Cladochaeta Coquillett (Diptera: Drosophilidae) is described, C. caxiuana sp. nov. from the Brazilian Amazon, based on 10 male and 10 female specimens obtained from nymphs of Sphodroscarta trivirgata (Amyot & Serville, 1843) (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha: Aphrophoridae). The female of Cladochaeta atlantica Pirani & Amorim, 2016 is described based on specimens reared from spider egg sacs of the spider Cryptachaea migrans (Keyserling, 1884) (Araneae: Theridiidae) obtained in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. This is the first record of this fly genus attacking a spider egg sac. The species Cladochaeta sororia (Williston, 1896) is recorded for the first time from Brazil, based on specimens collected in an urban garden in the Amazon. In addition, an unidentified female specimen of Cladochaeta Coquillett, 1900 was obtained from the cocoon of a spider wasp of the genus Notocyphus Smith (Hymenoptera: Pompilidae).

We perform a review of the Erythrolamprus reginae species group and putative related taxa (E. dorsocorallinus, E. zweifeli, and E. oligolepis), based on external morphology and hemipenial characters. We infer species boundaries among taxa traditionally associated with this group, recognizing two nominal subspecies (Erythrolamprus reginae reginae and E. r. macrosomus) in the species level. We propose the synonymy of E. r. semilineatus with E. reginae and recognize the validity of the related taxa, such as: E. dorsocorallinus, E. zweifeli, and E. oligolepis. In addition, two specimens occurring in the state Amapá, Brazil, are herein described as a new species. Therefore, we provide an identification key for the species of the group and discuss some of the combination of morphological features useful to delimitate the species of this group, in comparison with other representatives of the genus Erythrolamprus.

Tillandsia chalcatzingensis from Morelos, Mexico is described and illustrated. The new species is compared with T. superinsignis, T. thyrsigera and T. tonalaensis, taxa with similar morphological features. A comparative table and a distribution map of these taxa are included.

The Passiflora subgenus Astrophea has its greatest diversity in the Amazon Rainforest, which is the largest biodiversity reserve in the world. During a taxonomic revision of Brazilian Astrophea species, a new species was discovered from the municipality of São Gabriel da Cachoeira in the state of Amazonas. Morphological and palynological analysis, as well as comparisons with related species, confirmed that the specimen represents a new species to science belonging to the Passiflora subgenus Astrophea, section Pseudoastrophea. Passiflora lorenziana is the name given to the new Amazonian species, which is herein described, illustrated and compared to related species.

Croton bacupariensis, an endemic species from the coastal plain of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, is described and illustrated. The new species shares morphological features with Croton gnaphalii, but differs mainly by the habit, indumentum of leaves and morphology of pistillate flowers. In addition; C. gnaphalii occurs all over the Pampa’s grasslands of Argentina, Uruguay and Rio Grande do Sul.

This work describes a new species of Passiflora L. from the extreme west of the state of Bahia, Brazil. The new species, P. jorgeana Mezzonato, is placed in Passiflora subg. Astrophea (DC.) Mast. and is illustrated and compared to four morphologically similar species. Morphological features, geographic distribution, and conservation status are discussed.

Abstract—A synopsis of Dicliptera (Acanthaceae) for Brazil is presented. Six species are recognized: Dicliptera ciliaris, D. sexangularis, and D. squarrosa, widely distributed in South America; D. purpurascens, which ranges from the North Region of Brazil (in the state of Acre) to eastern Bolivia; D. gracilirama, a new species from the Atlantic Forest of northeastern Brazil; and D. granchaquenha, a new species recorded in dry and semideciduous forests in Bolivia and western Brazil, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Furthermore, we propose new synonyms and designate lectotypes for eleven names. An identification key to the six accepted Dicliptera species in Brazil is provided.

Abstract A new species of micromorphic articulate brachiopod (Rhynchonellida) Lambdarina jugowiensis sp. nov., from the upper Visean (Sokolec Beds) of central Sudetes, SW Poland, is described. The studied specimens are calcified, what makes them unique in respect of their state of preservation. The material is represented by a full range of growth stages; from brephic to gerontic. Based on its morphological features and the palaeogeographical distribution of all its known species, two main evolutionary lines are proposed for the genus; the Australian and the European ones. Lambdarina was widely distributed in the equatorial-tropical waters of marginal seas of the Palaeotethys Ocean, mostly during Mississippian time.
