Seabather's eruption (SBE) is an intensely itchy, papule-erythematous dermatitis that occurs predominantly in regions of the body covered by bathing costumes, after exposure to marine water. The planulae larvae of Linuche unguiculata scyphomedusae (thimble jellyfish) are the etiologic agent of the dermatitis, which is frequent in waters of Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico and Florida. The authors report 38 cases of SBE in the State of Santa Catarina (Southern region of Brazil), with emphasis on their clinical and epidemiological aspects, such as profile of victim, topography of the papules and conditions predisposing to the accident.

In the present work we report the first record of Chiroderma trinitatum Goodwin, 1958 for the state of Rondônia, northern Brazil. A map with all known records of C. trinitatum from Brazil is also presented. The record is based on a fluid preserved specimen with skull removed. The new record, though expected, fills a distributional gap in the Amazonic region of Brazil.

Specimens of Trichodina magna Van As and Bassson, 1989 (Ciliophora: Peritrichia) from the Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus collected from October 2004 to June 2005 in fish ponds situated in three regions of Santa Catarina State, Brazil are described here. Wet smears of skin and gills were prepared in the field, air dried, impregnated with Klein’s dry silver method and Giemsa’s solution. From a total of 146 examined fish, 36 were parasitized on the skin, 14 in the gills and 33 on the skin and gills, simultaneously. The mean diameter of the body of the specimens of T. magna was 84.3 ± 12.6 µm, adhesive disc 60.7 ± 10.0 µm, denticulate ring, 38.3 ± 7.4 µm, consisting of 26 (23 to 29) denticles. The only distinguishable difference from the original description was the fact that the ray of the denticle is anteriorly directed and does not extend over the y + 1 axis.

This study reports the occurrence of the pea-crab Calyptraeotheres garthi (Fenucci, 1975) for the State of Ceará, Northeastern Brazil. The crab was found associated to the calyptraeid limpet Crepidula plana (Say, 1822) in a Voluta ebraea (Linnaeus, 1758) shell occupied by the hermit crab Petrochirus diogenes (Linnaeus, 1758). This record represents the northernmost occurrence for the species in the Atlantic Ocean and the second for Brazilian waters. This new record increases the distribution area of C. garthi in about 3520 km. Taxonomic and biogeographic remarks, ecological notes and an updated distribution map are provided for this species.

Gonatopus mariae Martins, Lara, Perioto & Olmi, 2015, described from the state of São Paulo, is recorded for the first time in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, representing the first record of the genus and species from the state. The specimen was collected with a Malaise Dossel trap and deposited at the Entomological Collection of the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (Brazil). A diagnosis and illustration of this species are presented  demonstrating morphological variation of the type material. A distribution map is also provided. Gonatopus mariae is a rare species and its distribution is probably restricted to the southeastern region of Brazil.
