A new entomogenous taxon, Metacordyceps shibinensis sp. nov., associated with a larva of Lepidoptera was found in Yuntai Mountains, Guizhou Province, China. It differs from similar species in its white to faint yellow stromata, short ascomata, and very short asci and ascospores. Combined sequence analyses of 5.8S-ITS rDNA, nrSSU, EF-1α and RPB1 gene-loci also confirmed the distinctiveness of this new species.

A new species, Ophiocordyceps ramosissimumsp. nov., is described and illustrated. It was associated with larvae of Phassus nodus (Hepialidae) collected from Xuefeng Mountains, Hunan Province, China. It differs from similar species in having branched stromata without a sterile apex, superficial ascomata, and very wide asci and ascospores and in its occurrence on Phassus nodus in living roots or trunks of Clerodendrum cyrtophyllum. Multi-gene phylogenetic analysis of 5.8S-ITS rDNA, nrSSU, EF-1α, and RPB1 gene loci also confirmed the distinctiveness of this new species.

Classiculasinensis, isolated from decaying leaves from Mozigou, Chongqing Municipality, China, is described as a new species. The new species is a member of basidiomycetous aquatic hyphomycetes which represent a small proportion of all aquatic hyphomycetes. This species falls within the genus Classicula (Classiculaceae, Pucciniomycotina) and is closely related to C.fluitans, based on multiple gene sequence analyses. Morphologically, it is characterised by the apical, hyaline, obclavate or navicular conidia with several hair-like lateral appendages and by its holoblastic and monoblastic conidiogenesis, with a flat un-thickened conidiogenous locus. Clamp connections and haustorial branches were often observed in culture.

The hypogean ground beetle genus Aspidaphaenops Uéno, 2006 is reviewed. Some new information of A. reflexus Uéno, 2006 is provided, including the male genital characteristics as well as a new locality. Two new species are described and illustrated from southwestern Guizhou Province, southwest China: A. xiongda n. sp. (Guizhou: Anlong: Fengyan Dong), A. dudou n. sp. (Guizhou: Xingyi: Xiaozi Dong). A key to all Aspidaphaenops species is also provided.

Two new species of Lohmanniidae, Papillacarus (Papillacarus) retinervius sp. nov. from soil in Hainan Province, South China and Papillacarus (Papillacarus) mammilatus sp. nov. from moss and soil in Guizhou Province, Southwest China are described and illustrated. Papillacarus (P.) retinervius sp. nov. is most similar to Papillacarus (P.) polygonatus (Ermilov & Anichkin, 2011), however, it can be distinguished from the latter by the following characterstics: 20–21 pairs of additional neotrichal setae, setae d2, e2, h1, p1 shorter, as long as d1, epimeral setal formula 10-8-4-3. Papillacarus (P.) mammilatus sp. nov. is most similar to Papillacarus (P.) angulatus (Wallwork, 1962), however, it can be distinguished from the latter by the following characterstics: transverse bands S3 complete, eight pairs of subcapitular setae, epimeral setal formula 10-6-3-4.

During a survey of araneogenous fungi from Guizhou Province, China, a new species, Akanthomyces araneogenum, was isolated from a spider, Araneus sp. It differs from other Akanthomyces species by its spider host, Isaria-like conidiogenous structure, and mostly globose and smaller conidia (1.6–2.2 μm). Multi-locus (ITS, LSU, RPB1, RPB2 and TEF) phylogenetic analysis confirmed that A. araneogenum is distinct from other species. The new species is formally described and illustrated, and compared with similar species.

Seventeen species of tardigrades were found in this study. All species are new records for Guizhou Province, including two new records for China (Echiniscus perviridis and Doryphoribius zappalai) and one (Doryphoribius huangguoshuensis sp. nov.) new for science. The new species differs from the most similar species of the genus Doryphoribius mainly by different configuration of gibbosities on dorsal side of the body (configuration 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 2, 2 in the new species; 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 in D. dupliglobulatus; 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 2, 2, 3 in D. gibber; 6, 4, 6, 4, 6,4, 4, 2 in D. zyxiglobus).

A new leafhopper genus, Fanjingagen. nov., with type species F. digitata Yu & Yang, sp. nov., is described from the Guizhou Province of Southwest China. Habitus photos and illustrations of male genitalia of the new species are provided.

Five new species are described in this study: Achnanthidium jiuzhaienis sp. nov., Achnanthidium epilithica sp. nov., Achnanthidium limosua sp. nov., Achnanthidium subtilissimum sp. nov., and Kolbesia sichuanenis sp. nov. Classification was based on light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A. jiuzhaienis sp. nov. belongs to the “A. pyrenaicum complex” of the genus Achnanthidium, this classification was based on certain characteristics, such as the possession of transpically-elongated areolae and deflected external distal raphe fissures. A. epilithica sp. nov., A. limosua sp. nov., and A. subtilissimum sp. nov. belong to the “A. minutissimum complex” of the genus Achnanthidium, this classification was based on certain characteristics, such as the possession of straight external distal raphe fissures and round or elliptical areolae. Kolbesia sichuanenis sp. nov. was found to belongs to the Kolbesia genus, based on its elongated areolae and striae comprised of one macroareola. All five species were sufficiently different from other similar species to be considered unique separate species based on their valve outline, shape of the axial and center areas, and density of striae of each taxon. These new species derived from the epilithic and epiphytic collections of four alkaline lakes in Jiuzhai Valley, Sichuan Province, Southwest China.
