A new species of Magnolia, from the Lagunas de Montebello National Park, in the central highlands of Chiapas, Mexico, is described and illustrated. Magnolia montebelloensis belongs to section Magnolia; it differs from M. poasana in its smaller habit, densely pubescent terminal twig internodes, stipules and spathaceous bracts, shorter peduncular internodes and more numerous stamens. A key, an ecological and a conservation assessment of the eight Chiapan species of Magnoliaceae are included. Magnolia montebelloensis grows in montane rain forest and is contrasted with other Chiapan Magnolia species regarding their climate and vegetation preferences. It was assessed as critically endangered (CR) according to IUCN B1ab(ii, iii) and B2ab(iii) criteria. Half of Magnolia species in Chiapas occur in protected natural areas, and thus immediate action is required to protect the other four species, M. faustinomirandae, M. mayae, M. sharpii and M. zamudioi. Seven out of the eight Magnolia species (88%) are not found in ex-situ collections despite being endangered or critically endangered.

Liparis popaensis, a new species of Orchidaceae, is described from Popa Mountain National Park, central Myanmar. Liparis popaensis is morphologically similar to L. odorata but it differs from the latter by having oblong-lanceolate dorsal sepal, column with two triangular wings and lip with a pair of subconical and basally adjoining calli at its base. Identification key and colour photographs are provided. A preliminary conservation assessment according to the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria is given for the new species.

Dendrobium chiangdaoense, a new species belonging to Dendrobium section Stachyobium is described and illustrated. It is only known from the type locality in mixed deciduous forest at ca. 800 m elev. on limestone hills in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province, northern Thailand. It most closely resembles D. dixonianum, a more widespread northern Thailand species occurring in upper montane rain forest at 1,650–1,800 m elev.

Gravesia serratifolia, a new species from upper elevations of Marojejy National Park in northeastern Madagascar, is herein described, illustrated, mapped, and compared with similar species. It is readily characterized by its sparingly branched habit, leaf blades coarsely serrate with a moderate to sparse lepidote indumentum on both surfaces, inflorescence of few-flowered dichasia, calyx obsolete or evident as depressed truncate undulations with prominent calyx teeth that are laterally compressed when fresh, filaments with rusty-brown glandlike indumentum, and dorso-basal staminal appendages linear-oblong and widely spreading to coiled. A conservation assessment of Vulnerable is recommended for this species based on IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria.

Two new species of the subfamily Coelotinae (Araneae, Amaurobiidae) are described from Thailand. Coelotes suthepicus sp. n. (% & ) was recorded from an evergreen hill forest near the summit of Doi Pui, northern Thailand. Asiacoelotes sparus sp. n. (%) was collected from a lower montane rain forest on Khao Khieo, Khao Yai National Park, central Thailand. The genus Asiacoelotes Wang, 2002 is reported from this country for the first time, where it presumably reaches its southernmost zoogeographical boundary. Additional specimens of C. thailandensis Dankittipakul & Wang, 2003 are collected from Doi Inthanon National Park; the female of this species is described here; variation in male palpal structure is illustrated. Males of Draconarius monticola Dankittipakul, Sonthichai & Wang, 2005 are collected and described from Doi Chiang Dao.

Bazzania amadoi is a new species described and illustrated here based on material collected during a study of the bryophyte flora in the Brazilian Amazon Mountains, Monte Roraima National Park, Roraima State, Brazil. Bazzania is the largest genus of Lepidoziaceae,with ca. 30 species recognized in South America. A combination of leaves slightly bifid and recurved to the ventral side, underleaves imbricate and connate with the leaves on only one side, and vittae absent with only a region of larger leaf cells in the mid-lower portion of the leaves (vitta-like), distinguishes B. amadoi from the similar B. gracilis. The new taxon is placed within the key for the identification of species from the Brazilian Amazon domain, and represents an addition to the rich endemic flora of the Brazilian Amazon mountains of the Guiana Highlands. A detailed illustration of the new species is included, and also its informal conservation assessment.

A new species of Gesneriaceae, Didymocarpus phuquocensis, is described and illustrated from Phu Quoc National Park, Kien Giang Province, South-western Vietnam. It is most similar to D. pulcher, D. hookeri and D. punduanus in having 3-verticillate petiolate leaves, morphologically similar calyx, corolla, stamens, pistil and fruit, but differs from all in the glandular-pubescent stems, petioles and leaf blades, 1(–2)-flowered cymes, longer corolla and fruit and longer and densely glandular-puberulent ovary. Data on distribution, ecology, phenology and provisional conservation assessment of the new species are given along with an illustration and a colour plate.

Kaempferia jenjittikuliae, a new species of Kaempferia subg. Protanthium (Zingiberaceae) from Central–Northeastern Thailand, is described and illustrated. The diagnostic characters of this novel taxon are discussed and compared with those of the morphologically similar species Kaempferia lopburiensis, K. rotunda and K. udonensis. Detailed photographs of plants and dissected flowers, and information on phenology, distribution and ecology, are provided. A preliminary IUCN conservation assessment of Critically Endangered (CR) is assigned.

A new species of Dasymaschalon (Annonaceae), D. bachmaensis, from Bạch Mã NP, Thừa Thiên-Huế Province from North Central Coast region, Vietnam, is described and illustrated here. It shares several characteristics with D. glaucum, D. sootepense and D. wallichii (the leaves are glaucous, the petals are somewhat ovate and spirally twisted when mature, the stamen connectives are truncate and glabrous, the ovaries are hairy, and the stigmas are glabrous) but differs from them in having an obtuse leaf base, larger triangular-ovate sepals that are hairy on both surfaces, pale greenish-yellow petals, fewer stamens, smaller fruits that are not constricted between seeds, and smaller subglobose seeds. Details on distribution, ecology, phenology preliminary conservation assessment of D. bachmaensis, a key to Dasymaschalon species in Vietnam and a distribution map are provided.

Taraxacum sandomiriense Wolanin, a new species of Taraxacum sect. Erythrosperma from Poland is described. It is a triploid (2n=24) characterized by strongly corniculated inner bracts, brown-colored achenes and distinctly haired leaves. It is an extremely rare taxon found in the xerothermic plant communities in the Świętokrzyskie Province. The species conservation assessment for T. sandomiriense determines its threat status as Critically Endangered, since it consists of three populations with a very small number of individuals. A detailed species description, photographs, distribution map, notes on ecology and chorology are provided.

A new species of Pergalumna (Oribatida, Galumnidae) is described from leaf litter of rain forest in the Espejillos environs near the Bolivian Ambor National Park. Pergalumna espejillosensis sp. nov. is similar to Pergalumna nasica Pérez-Íñigo & Baggio, 1980 in the presence of protruding rostrum, three pairs of rounded/oval notogastral porose areas and minute interlamellar seta, and in the absence of dorsosejugal suture, but differs by the smaller body length, setiform bothridial seta and long lamellar seta, and the absence of a median pore. An identification key to known species/subspecies of the genus from the Neotropical region is presented.
