A new species of Strobilanthes (Acanthaceae), S. bolavenensis, is described from Bolaven Plateau, southern Laos. Photos and illustration are given together with information of habitat, ecology, vernacular name and preliminary conservation assessment based on IUCN criteria.

Dyckia pampeana Büneker, a new species of Bromeliaceae (Pitcairnioideae) from the Pampa grasslands of Brazil and Uruguay, is hereby described and illustrated. Data on habitat, ecology, etymology, geographical distribution, morphological affinities and status of conservation according to the IUCN criteria are provided.

Echeveria munizii, a new species from the southwestern slopes of Volcán de Colima on the Colima-Jalisco border in western Mexico is described and illustrated. This species belongs to series Gibbiflorae and is most similar to E. fulgens from which it differs in having adaxially sulcate leaves with straight and hyaline margins, olive green to brownish green surface, a fewer flowered inflorescence with fewer flowers per branch, a pink / orange bicolored corolla with the inner surface pale pink to orange, the base of the carpels white, and longer pedicels. A species conservation assessment, undertaken using IUCN criteria, determines Echeveria munizii to be Critically Endangered (CR).

Anchietea ballardii Paula-Souza, a new species of Violaceae endemic to inselbergs in Espírito Santo state, Brazil, is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically similar to Anchietea ferrucciae Paula-Souza & Zmarzty, endemic to the Caatinga in Bahia state, being recognized by its obovate to suborbicular fruit valves, ovate or widely elliptic to suborbicular leaves and more congested arrangement of leaves and flowers/fruits. An updated key to the species of Anchietea A.St.-Hil. is provided, and a preliminary conservation assessment using IUCN criteria are provided for both the new species and and A. ferrucciae.            Anchietea ballardii Paula-Souza, uma nova espécie de Violaceae endêmica de inselbergs do Espírito Santo, Brasil, é descrita e ilustrada. A nova espécie é morfologicamente relacionada à Anchietea ferrucciae Paula-Souza & Zmarzty, endêmica da Caatinga da Bahia, sendo distinta pelas valvas dos frutos obovais a suborbiculares, folhas ovais ou largamente elípticas a suborbiculares e arranjo mais congesto de folhas e flores/frutos. Uma chave de identificação atualizada para as espécies de Anchietea A.St.-Hil. é apresentada, assim como a avaliação de seu status de conservação e o de A. ferrucciae.

Stigmatodon Leme, G. K. Br. & Barfuss is an exclusively Brazilian genus of Bromeliaceae that occurs mainly on large vertical granite surfaces of inselbergs in the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil. A new species found in cliff ecosystems on inselbergs in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro is described and illustrated. Data are provided on its habitat, ecology, and geographical distribution, together with an evaluation of its conservation status according to IUCN criteria.

Prosopanche cocuccii is described as a new species from Southern Brazil. It resembles P. bonacinae due to the trigonous rhizome and by the general size of the flower organs. Nevertheless, P. cocuccii is distinguished by the main floral morphological characteristics used to differentiate species. In addition, the new species presents some rare characters for the genus, such as a highly branched rhizome and flowers usually grouped in fascicles. We provide a description, illustrations, field photographs, morphological details under the stereomicroscope, and comments on habitat, ecology, distribution, and conservation of the new species, as well as an updated key for the genus Prosopanche. In addition, we identified that P. cocuccii produces a large number of rhizomes and fruits for each single host specimen of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum), which resulted in a decrease in height and growth of its only known host plant.

A new species, Muscari inundatum (Asparagaceae) from Turkey, is described and illustrated. It is morphologically similar to M. neglectum and M. adilii, but differs mainly by its shouldered fertile flowers with erect to slightly recurved lobes at maturity. In this study, a comprehensive description, diagnostic characters, original photographs, detailed illustration, geographical distribution, conservation assessment, identification key, and taxonomic comments on the new species are presented.

Taxonomic issues regarding three species of Styrax ser. Valvatae in Brazil are addressed. Styrax bahiensis, a new species from Bahia state, northeastern Brazil, is described and illustrated. It is similar to S. pallidus in its leaves of similar size and anther thecae that exceed the connective, but differs by coriaceous leaf blades with a revolute margin, leaf domatia up to 0.7 mm long and flat or rarely slightly bulging, a yellow- or orange-stellate-tomentulose calyx abaxially, and spreading corolla lobes. The species is known only from the type collection gathered over 50 years ago. Styrax griseus is placed in synonymy under S. kuhlmannii, a species from central Brazil, and a lectotype is provided for S. kuhlmannii. An updated description and estimate of the geographic distribution of S. pauciflorus are provided, as well as a lectotype and conservation assessment for this species.

Odontochilusputaoensis, a new species of Orchidaceae, is described and illustrated from Putao Township, Kachin State, Myanmar.Odontochilusputaoensisis close toO.duplex, but can be easily distinguished from the latter by having a light yellow lip, a bisaccate hypochile with a small, erect, blade-like and emarginate callus within each sac, a mesochile with a pair of dentate-pectinate flanges and a bilobed epichile with a pair of widely diverging lobes that are erect and concave. An identification key to the Southeast Asian species ofOdontochilusand colour photographs ofO.putaoensisare provided. A preliminary conservation assessment according to the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria is given for the new species.

High-throughput sequencing, when combined with taxonomic expertise, is a powerful tool to refine and advance taxonomic classification, including at the species level. In the present work, a new species, Plantago campestris, is described out of the P. commersoniana species complex, based on phylogenomic and morphological evidence. The main morphological characters that distinguish the new species from P. commersoniana are the glabrous posterior sepals and the slightly broader leaves. The new species is known from only three localities, all in natural high-elevation grasslands in Paraná and Santa Catarina states, southern Brazil. According to the IUCN criteria new species should be assessed as Endangered (EN). We present field photographs of P. campestris and related species, and we provide an identification key to the species previously included within the circumscription of P. commersoniana.

Behuria mestrealvarensis (Melastomataceae) from the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, is described, illustrated and compared with B. capixaba, the species most similar to it. Behuria mestrealvarensis differs from B. capixaba by the glabrous petioles and hypanthia, by the solitary flowers or these in simple or compound triads up to 7 flowers, elliptic bracteoles almost the same size of the pedicel and hypanthium, sepals with eciliate margins and ovary apex with trichomes up to 0.5 mm. It occurs in a single locality, on an isolated, ca. 800m elev. inselberg. Due to its restricted occupancy area, fragmented landscape and poor habitat quality, this species must be considered as Critically Endangered according to IUCN criteria.
