Two New Species

The genus Dictyopharina Melichar, 1903, and its type species, D. viridissima Melichar, 1903 from Sri Lanka and India, are redescribed and illustrated. Two new species, D. octaprotrusa sp. nov. and D. sichuanensis sp. nov., are added to the genus from southern China, and they represent the first record of the genus from China. A key to the species of Dictyopharina is provided.

Mites of the family Athyreacaridae are recorded from Asia for the first time. Two new species of Athyreacarus are described, A. indicus sp. nov., collected on the beetles Bolbohamatum laevicolle and B. marginale in India, and A. brevisetosus sp. nov., collected on a beetle Bolboceras sp. in Sri Lanka. An updated key to species of the genus Athyreacarus is provided.

The species of Hemibrycon occurring in the east of the Andean Cordilleras are reviewed based on their type series and additional specimens. Nine species are redescribed: H. beni from río Beni basin, Bolivia; H. helleri from the upper rio Ucayali, Peru; H. huambonicus from the ríos Huallaga and Marañon basins, Peru; H. jeslkii from the upper portions of ríos Marañon, Ucayali and Madeira basins, Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru; H. metae from río Orinoco basin, Colombia and Venezuela, and Caribbean coastal basins of Venezuela; H. polyodon (type species) from río Pastaza basin, Ecuador; H. surinamensis from coastal basins of French Guiana and Suriname, and from lower rios Tapajós, Tocantins and Xingu basins, Brazil; H. taeniurus from river basins from Trinidad Island, Trinidad and Tobago, and H. tridens from upper río Ucayali basin, Peru. Two new species are described: H. inambari from the upper río Madre de Dios basin, Peru and H. mikrostiktos from río Ucayali basin, Peru. These species are distinguished among themselves mainly by the color pattern, and meristic characters. The distribution area of the genus is enlarged reaching the lower Tapajós, Tocantins and Xingu river basins, Brazil, with the first record of the occurrence of H. surinamensis in this country. A new description and diagnosis is provided for the type species of the genus, regardless its recent redescription. The type series of H. helleri that was previously considered dubious is found and described. Hemibrycon coxeyi and H. pautensis are considered junior synonyms of H. polyodon. Tetragonopterus (Hemibrycon) trinitatis, previously considered species inquirenda in Characidae, and Hemibrycon guppyi are junior synonyms of H. taeniurus. Hemibrycon orcesi is transferred to Boehlkea. A taxonomic key for the species of the genus to the east of the Andean Cordilleras is presented.

The assassin bugs of the genus Ptilocerus Gray, 1831 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Reduviidae: Holoptilinae) occurring in the Australian Region are reviewed for the first time, resulting in the description of two new species, viz., P. spangenbergi sp. nov. (Queensland and Northern Territory, Australia) and P. papuensis sp. nov. (Papua New Guinea). The latter species differs from P. fuscus Gray, 1831 (the type-species of genus Ptilocerus) in a couple of major external morphological characters, hence its tentative placement in the genus Ptilocerus is discussed. A key for the separation of the two new species is provided.

Small Genus

The small genus Spininola was recently erected by László, Ronkay & Witt (2010) with the type species Nola loxoscia Hampson, 1900. They tabulated six species in the genus, S. loxoscia (Hampson, 1900), S. vesiculalis (Eecke, 1926), S. trilinea (Marumo, 1923), S. denticulata (Moore, 1888), S. fuscibasalis (Hampson, 1896) and S. armata László, Ronkay & Witt, 2010 from Thailand. The genus is distributed in eastern Asia, from Nepal and Sri Lanka in the west, to Japan in the north and Sumatra in the south. In our surveys, two new species were found and are described herein, and S. loxoscia (Hampson, 1900) is recorded for the first time from China (Fig. 1).

An overview of the Oriental species of the nominate subgenus of Camptopteroides Viggiani (Hymenoptera: Mymaridae) is given. Two new species, C. (Camptopteroides) formosa Manickavasagam & Sankararaman sp. n. from India and C. (Camptopteroides) reducta Triapitsyn sp. n. from Thailand and Malaysia, are described, and C. formosa additionally compared to two unnamed species. The holotype male of the type species of this genus, C. armata Viggiani from Sri Lanka, is diagnosed and illustrated. A key to Old World species of Camptopteroides is provided.

The subgenus Okubasca Dworakowska of the genus Empoasca Walsh (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Typhlocybinae: Empoascini) is recorded for the first time from China, and revised with two new species described and illustrated from southern China: E. (O.) dianella Qin & Zhang sp. nov., E. (O.) calvata Qin & Liu sp. nov. Habitus photos and illustrations of male genitalia of these new species are given. A key to males of all three species of the subgenus is also provided.

The genus Indocloeon Müller-Liebenau 1982 (s. l.) is divided into two subgenera, the subgenus Indocloeon (s. str.) and the subgenus Hindocloeon subgen. n. which differ one from another by certain characters of larvae, winged stages and eggs. The subgenus Indocloeon is distributed in Sri Lanka only and includes two species, Indocloeon (Indocloeon) primum Müller-Liebenau 1982, and Indocloeon (Indocloeon) secundum sp. n., which are described here based on larvae, subimagines, imagines of both sexes and eggs associated by rearing. The subgenus Hindocloeon (type species Indocloeon indonesiae Kluge 2012) is widely distributed in the Oriental region. A new species Indocloeon (Hindocloeon) continentale sp. n. is described from Thailand based on larvae, subimagines, imagines of both sexes and eggs associated by rearing; subimagines presumably placed in this species, are reported from southern India. Some characters of Indocloeon (Hindocloeon) indonesiae Kluge 2012 are illustrated for the first time. The species originally described as Cloeon longistylus Demoulin 1969 is placed in Indocloeon as Indocloeon (Hindocloeon) longistylus comb. n. Subimagines of two unnamed species of Hindocloeon are reported from Vietnam and Java. Keys to known larvae and imagines are given.
