A New Species

Based on material collected from Northern Iran, a new species of the genus Phthiria, Phthiria vaganoides sp. nov., is described and its diagnostic characters are photographed. Phthiria fulva Meigen, 1804 is also recorded for the first time from Iran. The pupal exuviae of Phthiria fulva Meigen is described and illustrated and its host, Argyresthia sp. is recorded. This marks the first description of an immature stage of the genus Phthiria.

A New Species

A new species, Bak iranica sp. nov. (Acariformes: Prostigmata: Cheyletidae) is described on the basis of adult males from Amol, Mazandaran province, northern Iran. The new species can be distinguished from other species by the following features: having one seta on each trochanter, tarsi I–IV with 9(+1ω)–7(+1ω)–7(+1ω)–7(+1ω); palpal claw with two basal teeth and most of dorsal body setae slightly lanceolate and barbed. Additionally, a key to world species (females and males) of the genus Bak Yunker is provided. This genus is recorded from Iran for the first time.

The genus Acridurus Perez, Dominici, Hierro & Otte, 1995 is herein recorded for the first time from Cuba, based on a new species. Acridurus baracoae n. sp. is described on the basis of four specimens from three separate localities enclaved in the northeastern mountains of the main island (Holguín and Guantánamo Provinces). The description herein presented is supported by a thorough illustrative complement, which includes a precise map and color photographs of habitus, main morphological diagnostic characters and habitat.

The genus Lodosocoris Ahmad & Afzal, 1986 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Pentatomidae: Pentatominae: Halyini) is recorded for the first time from India. Prior to this publication, the genus was monotypic so far, containing only Lodosocoris azhari Ahmad & Afzal, 1986 from Pakistan. Herein, the genus Lodosocoris is redescribed along with the description of Lodosocoris santhae sp. nov., based on specimens from Arunachal Pradesh, a region in northeastern India. Lodosocoris santhae sp. nov is described and illustrated based on male and female genitalia. The diagnostic characters of the new species are compared with L. azhari.

The genus Yalvaciana Ciplak et.al (2002) is reported for the first time from India represented by a new species. Previously the genus comprised a single species, Yalvaciana yalvaci Demirsoy, (1974). A new species of water scavenger beetle, Laccobius (Glyptolaccobius) yinziweii sp. nov. is described from Yunnan, China. Diagnostic characters are illustrated. Laccobius (Cyclolaccobius) nitidus Gentili, 1984 is reported from Guizhou, Laccobius (Microlaccobius) hammondi Gentili, 1984 from Hubei, and Laccobius (s. str.) inopinus Gentili, 1980 from Guizhou for the first time. Additionally, an identification key to Laccobius (Glyptolaccobius) of the world is updated.

The genus Ludioctenus Fairmaire, 1893 hitherto included only L. cyprius (Baudi di Selve, 1871) from the eastern Mediterranean and L. pakistanicus Schimmel & Tarnawski, 2012 from Pakistan. Here, we describe L. afghanicus sp. nov. from the Nuristan Province in eastern Afghanistan. The distribution and morphological diversity of Ludioctenus is discussed, main diagnostic characters for all species are figured, and an identification key to the species of this genus is provided. Female pregenital segments and genitalia are figured for the first time for Ludioctenus, and the systematic position of this genus and its relatives is discussed.

A new species of zerconid mites, Prozercon caspiansis sp. nov. is described based on female, male, and protonymph specimens collected from different forestland areas in Mazandaran Province, northern Iran. In addition, the male and larval specimens of P. dominiaki Błaszak were found in the same region and described for the first time. An updated key for the Iranian Prozercon species is provided, and the situation of the Iranian genera and species of the family is briefly discussed.

The genus Xenovarta Viraktamath is recorded from India for the first time and Xenovarta viraktamathi sp. nov. from India is described and illustrated. Materials are deposited in the National Pusa Collection, Division of Entomology, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, India. A key to species of the genus are provided, with molecular evidence of the specimen in the form of partial mtCOI sequences.
