Three species of the braconid genus Pambolus (Braconidae) are described from Mexico: P. jarocho sp. n., P. chinanteco sp. n. and P. bizelab sp. n. The external morphological variation in males and females of P. oblongispina Papp, previously known only by two females from Honduras and northern Mexico, is described based on material from Jalisco and Oaxaca in central and southeast Mexico. Molecular characterisation of the examined species was carried out based on the 28S nuclear ribosomal and the COI mitochondrial DNA gene markers.

This paper reports four new species of the primitively segmented spider genus Songthela from Chongqing Municipality, China, based on morphological characters of both males and females: S. jinyun sp. nov., S. longbao sp. nov., S. serriformis sp. nov. and S. wangerbao sp. nov. We also provide the GenBank accession codes of mitochondrial DNA barcode gene, cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI), for the holotype of four new species for future identification.

We describe three new gecko species of the Paroedura oviceps clade, diagnosed by deep divergences in mitochondrial DNA, absence of haplotype sharing in two nuclear genes (sacs and kiaa1239), and morphological differences. Paroedura spelaea sp. nov. is an extremely slender species from karst habitats in the limestone massif of the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park in western Madagascar, morphologically reminiscent of P. homalorhina but distinguished by the absence of distinct dorsal rows of spiny tubercles. Paroedura fasciata sp. nov. from the small karstic island Nosy Hara in northern Madagascar is phylogenetically placed sister to P. spelaea despite radical morphological differences. It is morphologically most similar to P. hordiesi from the geographically close Montagne des Français massif, but is smaller, has slightly more spiny dorsal scales, and a distinctive colour pattern with light grey dorsal crossbands. The third species, Paroedura kloki sp. nov., is known from Ankarafantsika National Park and the western slopes of Makira, two sites of dry to transitional forest in western Madagascar. It is at least partly arboreal and morphologically very similar to P. oviceps, from which it differs by spiny scales extending over its entire tail. Although incomplete, the available phylogenetic evidence suggests that the karst specialists in the P. oviceps clade (P. fasciata, P. homalorhina, P. hordiesi, P. spelaea) form a monophyletic group which might have diversified by vicariance after becoming isolated, respectively, in their limestone habitats in Tsingy de Bemaraha, Ankarana, Nosy Hara and Montagne des Français.

Undescribed females representing four morphological types were found in a collection of adult Diamesa from about 5000 m altitude in Rongbuk, Tibet. Short DNA sequences of cytochrome oxidase subunit 2 were used to associate two single males in the material with conspecific females. Diamesa solhoyi n.sp. and Diamesa aculeata n.sp. are described. The complete type material and additional specimens have been deposited in the Insect Collection at the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica, Beijing (IZAS). The sequences are deposited in Genbank with accession numbers AM051227–AM051233.

The pagurid hermit crab genus Pagurixus Melin, 1939, currently includes 24 species in the Indo-West Pacific, and recent studies have revealed the richness of this genus in southern Japan, particularly in coral reefs. In this paper, we deal with two species of the genus, P. dissimilis n. sp. described from southern Japan, and the recently described P. patiae Komai, 2006. The new species appears closest to P. nanus Komai & Takada, 2006 in both morphology and coloration in life, but is distinguished from the latter by having a clearly delimited dorsomesial margin of the dactylus of the right cheliped in males and females, a blunt but distinct median crest and a mesial row of small spines on the dorsal surface of the carpus of the male right cheliped, and paired gonopores in females. The newly obtained specimens of P. patiae from Okinawa Island enable us to describe the coloration in life of the species for the first time and to examine morphological variation. Brief notes on the distribution of the Japanese Pagurixus species are also provided.

By investigating watermite collections from Guizhou province, China in 2006, three new Unionicola species are described: Unionicola (Unionicola) maolanensis sp. nov., Unionicola (Unionicola) xishuiensis sp. nov. and Unionicola (Unionicola) suiyangensis sp. nov.. A key is presented for the hitherto known five Chinese Unionicola species of the subgenus based on males and females.

Scapulocoracoid variation in Sympterygia acuta and S. bonapartii was analyzed inter- and intraspecifically, and the utility of this structure as a diagnostic character in skates was evaluated. Skeletal pieces were obtained from a total of 85 specimens collected in coastal waters of northern Argentina in 2011 and 2012. Morphometric variation was analyzed using non parametric tests. Morphologic variation was qualitatively and quantitatively evaluated by comparing number, shape and arrangement of posterior fenestrae. Scapulocoracoids of both species are rectangular in shape and expanded anteroposteriorly, but those of S. bonapartii were more expanded. Differences in shape, both in males and females, were reflected in the ANOSIM test. Greatest Height and Height of Rear Corner were the variables that most contributed to the differences found between both species. These differences in morphology agree with previous descriptions. No sexual dimorphism was observed regarding scapulocoracoids in S. acuta, and only a slight variation between males and females of S. bonapartii was found. Number of postdorsal and postventral fenestrae was highly variable. At least five scapulocoracoid morphotypes for S. acuta (with two to six fenestrae) and seven scapulocoracoid morphotypes for S. bonapartii (with three up to nine fenestrae) were identified. However, patterns of fenestrae arrangement were also very diverse in both species. Therefore, a broad variation in fenestrae number and pattern, especially postdorsal ones, was shown in both species. These results indicate that caution needs to be taken when using the scapulocoracoids not only in phylogenetic studies but also in descriptions of new species.

Three new Brazilian species of Polana (Varpulana) are described and illustrated, based on males and females: P. (V.) agualimpa sp. nov., from Distrito Federal; P. (V.) feitosai sp. nov., from Piauí and P. (V.) recurva sp. nov. from Paraná. An updated key to males of P. (Varpulana) is presented, the diagnosis of the subgenus is revised and a new state record is presented to P. (V.) pandara. Additionally, morphological differences found in the dorsal sculpturing of the first valvula between the species of Polana are reported.

The genus Camillina Berland, 1919 includes 75 valid species which are mainly distributed in South America. However, in Brazil, the knowledge regarding Camillina remains limited and a few contributions to the taxonomy of the genus have been made in the last two decades. Camillina belongs to Zelotinae, a group of gnaphosid spiders which diagnostic character is a preening comb on metatarsi III and IV, and the genus can be recognized by the presence of a prolaterally situated, bifid terminal apophysis and medially situated, recessed embolar base on the male palp and a median epigynal plate. Here, we describe the males and females of three new species: C. suya sp. nov. and C. kuarup sp. nov., both from Fazenda Tanguro, Querência, state of Mato Grosso, Brazil and C. bonaldoi sp. nov. from Parque Nacional de Sete Cidades, Piracuruca, state of Piauí, Brazil.

Colomastigids are small, commensal marine amphipods distributed worldwide. Here we present descriptions of three new species of Colomastix Grube, 1861 from Todos-os-Santos Bay (Bahia state), and separately identification keys to males and females of all known Colomastix species from the Atlantic Ocean. Males of Colomastix iemanja sp. nov. can be distinguished from all others in the genus especially by the bifurcate apex of inner ramus of uropod 1, with highly asymmetric branches surrounded by a membranous-like structure. Males of Colomastix tubulosa sp. nov. can be distinguished from all others in the genus especially by the tube-like morphology of the apex of inner ramus of uropod 1, the morphology of the distalmost palmar process of gnathopod 2 and by the expanded inner ramus of uropod 2. Females of Colomastix iemanja sp. nov. and Colomastix tubulosa sp. nov. are the only species in the Atlantic with a pleated apex on dactylus of gnathopod 2, besides Colomastix trispinosa Silvany, Alves & Senna, 2019. Colomastix marielle sp. nov. can be distinguished from all other species in the genus by the elongate carpus of pereopod 5 of females and by the rudder-like morphology of the apex of inner ramus of uropod 1 of males. These three new species increase the number of Colomastix in the Atlantic from 18 to 21, and are amongst the first records of the suborder Colomastigidea Lowry & Myers, 2017 from Brazilian waters.
