Forty-one species in five genera of bitentaculate cirratulids are reported from new collections from South America, the Southern Ocean, and seas around Antarctica. Twenty-seven species are new to science; one new genus is described to deal with some species formerly identified as Chaetozone. New records, synonymies, and new combinations are reported. Previous records are reviewed with type specimens of most species reexamined and redescribed. The sub-Antarctic species Aphelochaeta cincinnata (Ehlers, 1908) does not occur in Antarctica: the numerous published records of this species instead belong to several new species. The types of Tharyx epitocus Monro, 1930, and Tharyx fusiformis Monro, 1939, have spines in posterior setigers and are referred to other genera. Among the 41 species treated in this study, 11 belong to Aphelochaeta, eight are new; eight species belong to Caulleriella, six are new; six species belong to Chaetocirratulus n. gen., three are new; 12 species belong to Chaetozone, seven are new; and four species belong to Tharyx, three are new. Numerous samples come from slope and abyssal depths, expanding our knowledge of the distribution of Southern hemisphere deep-sea cirratulids.

One hundred forty-six species of Gelechiidae including 36 new records are reported from Israel. Anarsia balioneura Meyrick, 1921 and Polyhymno chionarcha Meyrick, 1913 are recorded for the first time in the Palaearctic region. Two new species are described: Metzneria freidbergi sp. nov., and Scrobipalpa aravensis sp. nov. Six new synonyms are established: Stygmatoptera Hartig, 1936 syn. nov. of Polyhymno Chambers, 1874; Eulamprotes Bradley, 1971 syn. nov. of Oxypteryx Rebel, 1911; Polyhymno abaiella Amsel, 1974 syn. nov. of Polyhymno chionarcha, Meyrick, 1913; Gelechia haifella Amsel, 1935 syn. nov. of Athrips rancidella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1854); Sophronia catharurga Meyrick, 1923 and Sophronia parahumerella Amsel, 1935 syn. nov. of Pseudosophronia exustellus (Zeller, 1847). The following new combinations are proposed: Anacampsis karmeliella (Amsel, 1935) comb. nov., Stomopteryx tesserapunctella (Amsel, 1935) comb. nov., Aproaerema languidella (Amsel, 1936) comb. nov., Aproaerema telaviviella (Amsel, 1935) comb. nov., Acompsia (Telephila) ballotellus (Amsel, 1935) comb. nov., Polyhymno dumonti (Hartig, 1936) comb. nov., Oxypteryx atrella (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) comb. nov., Oxypteryx immaculatella (Douglas, 1850) comb. nov. and Chrysoesthia amseli (Bidzilya, 2008) comb. nov. A lectotype is designated for Lita rhamnifoliae Amsel & Hering, 1931.The genitalia of both sexes of Sophronia sagittans Meyrick, 1923, Anacampsis karmeliella (Amsel, 1935), Stomopteryx tesserapunctella Amsel, 1935 as well as male genitalia of Stomopteryx lacteolella Caradja, 1924, Aproaerema telaviviella (Amsel, 1935), Acompsia ballotellus (Amsel, 1935), Polyhymno dumonti (Hartig, 1936) and Chrysoesthia amseli (Bidzilya, 2008) are illustrated and described for the first time. New or additional host plants are recorded for Metzneria aspretella Lederer, 1869, M. agraphella (Ragonot, 1895), M. ehikeella Gozmány, 1954 and Scrobipalpa suaedivorella (Chrétien, 1915). Photographs of the type specimens of most taxa described from Israel and Palestine are presented. The following species are removed from the list of Gelechiidae of Israel: Nothris sulcella Staudinger, 1879, N. skyvai Karsholt & Šumpich, 2015, Anarsia spartiella Schrank, 1802, Megacraspedus cerussatellus Rebel, 1930, Oxypteryx atrella (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Isophrictis anthemidella (Wocke, 1871), Metzneria metzneriella (Stainton, 1851), Scrobipalpa otregata Povolný, 1972, Scrobipalpa nitentella (Fuchs, 1902), Scrobipalpa remota Povolný, 1972, Scrobipalpa salinella (Zeller, 1847) and Ephysteris diminutella (Zeller, 1847). Moreover, Stomopteryx remissella (Zeller, 1847) is recorded as new to the Altai Mountains of Russia, Anarsia balioneura Meyrick, 1921 is new to Cyprus and Libya, Polyhymno dumonti (Hartig, 1936) is new to Libya and Sudan, Scrobipalpa superstes is new to Greece, Stenolechia gemmella (Linnaeus, 1758) is new to Jordan and Polyhymno chionarcha is new to Saudi Arabia.

We describe two new species of spherical single-chambered ('saccamminid') foraminifera from the bathyal and abyssal Weddell Sea (Southern Ocean), collected in epibenthic sledge and Agassiz trawl samples obtained during the 2005 ANDEEP III campaign. Both are assigned to Leptammina gen. nov. The new genus is similar in overall test morphology to Saccammina Carpenter, 1869; it is distinguished mainly by its test wall, which is delicate, flexible and composed of fine mineral grains, rather than being rigid and coarsely agglutinated. In Leptammina grisea gen. et sp. nov., the test wall is relatively thick, grayish with a violet tinge and a dull surface; the cytoplasm is dark greenish. In Leptammina flavofusca gen. et sp. nov., the test is yellowish brown, with a very finely, almost transluscent agglutinated wall; the cytoplasm is pale yellowish. Both species have prominent circular apertures. Maximum likelihood phylogenetic analysis of SSU rRNA gene data showed that both species group together with an undescribed shallow-water Antarctic species (“silver saccamminid”) in a very strongly supported clade (100 %). Leptammina grisea gen. et sp. nov. is a relatively uncommon species (29 specimens from 3 stations), found at 1580–4822 m depth in the central and north–western Weddell Sea; Leptammina flavofusca gen. et sp. nov. is common (398 specimens from 4 stations) at depths of 3138–4795 m in the central Weddell Sea and off Kapp Norvegia. Both species are presently known only from ANDEEP III samples.

Bifurcipentatoma Fan & Liu, gen. nov., with two new species, B. nigricornuta Fan & Liu, sp. nov., and B. parabrunneaFan & Liu, sp. nov., are described from China. Three new combinations, B. acuticornuta (Zheng & Ling, 1983) comb.nov., B. brunnea (Zheng & Ling, 1983) comb. nov., and B. roseicornuta (Zheng & Ling, 1983) comb. nov., are proposedand those species are diagnosed. A key to the species and illustrations of each species are provided. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Nankai University, Tianjin, China (NKUM).

A parsimony analysis of recently collected species sharing several features such as scalpellate acrostichals, often setae apically on the wing membrane and often strongly extended costa, together with 38 genera show that the collected species can be assigned to Antillocladius S ther, 1981, Compterosmittia S ther, 1981, and one new genus, Litocladius. Nine new species of Antillocladius are described and figured as male imagines: A. calakmulensis, A. herradurus and A. zempoalensis from Mexico; A. venequatoriensis from Ecuador and Venezuela; A. ubatuba from Brazil and Venezuela; and A. biota, A. folius, A. musci, and A. sooretama from Brazil. The female of A. musci, the pupae of A. antecalvus S ther, A. folius, and A. musci, and the larvae of A. folius and A. musci are also described and figured. New records of A. antecalvus S ther from Brazil and Venezuela; of A. arcuatus S ther from Brazil, Mexico and Venezuela; A. pluspilalus S ther from Ecuador and Mexico and of A. zhengi Wang and S ther from Thailand are given. The genus Antillocladius S ther, 1981, originally described from the British West Indies, now includes 15 species from North, Central and South America, Russia, China and Thailand. Keys to all known males, females, pupae and larvae are given. Four new species of Compterosmittia are described and figured as male imagines: C. aberrans from Costa Rica; C. croizati from Brazil and Venezuela; C. pittieri from Venezuela; and C. berui from Brazil. The genus Compterosmittia S ther, 1981, originally described from the British West Indies, now includes 8 to 10 species from North, Central and South America, Australia, Oceania and Southeast Asia. A key to male imagines is given. The new genus, Litocladius, includes a single species, L. mateusi, described as male, female and pupa. The immatures of all three genera are terrestrial or associated with phytotelmata, and notes on their biology and larval habitats are included.

AbstractTwo new corticolous lichen species are described, Lepraria nothofagi Elix & Kukwa (atranorin, strepsilin, porphyrilic acid) from Argentina and L. stephaniana Elix, Flakus & Kukwa (4-O-methylleprolomin, zeorin, salazinic acid, unknown terpenoid) from pre-Andean Amazon forest of Bolivia. In addition, the paper presents new records of 16 species of Lepraria from South America. Lepraria adhaerens, and L. diffusa are new to the Southern Hemisphere; L. borealis is new to South America; L. alpina is new to Chile, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela; L. caesioalba (chemotype I) is new to Venezuela, L. lobificans new to Argentina, L. pallida new to Peru, and L. sipmaniana new to Bolivia and Chile. The Chilean records of L. membranacea appeared to belong to L. sipmaniana. Therefore, the number of Lepraria spp. known at present from South America is enlarged to 27 species. 4-O-methylleprolomin is reported for the second time from lichens.

In this study, Pararhexoacrodictys gen. nov., with Pa. catolensis as the type species is described and compared with morphologically similar Acrodictys-like genera. The new genus is phenotypically similar to both Rhexoacrodictys and Pseudoacrodictys but separated by other morphological characters. Pa. minima sp. nov. and two combinations, Pa. balansae and Pa. magnicornuata, are introduced, and new records of Pseudoacrodictys and Shrungabeeja are also registered for South America and the Neotropics.

Abstract:New records of 15 Lepraria species from South America are presented. Two species are newly described from the Bolivian Andes: Lepraria achariana Flakus & Kukwa (major compounds: lecanoric, angardianic/roccellic acids and anthraquinones) and L. neojackii Flakus & Kukwa (major compounds: porphyrilic, angardianic/roccellic, cf. rangiformic acids and anthraquinone). Lepraria impossibilis, L. lecanorica and L. rigidula are reported as new for the Southern Hemisphere, L. alpina, L. aff. caesiella and L. squamatica as new to South America, and other species as new to several countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Peru, Uruguay). In addition, two putative, undescribed species are discussed. Chemistry, ecology and general information concerning distribution of the species are presented, and the differentiation of some critical taxa discussed. A provisional key to Lepraria in South America is provided.

<p>Five species of the genus <em>Anastrepha</em> Schiner are reported for the first time from the region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca. <em>A. bezzii</em> Lima, <em>A. minuta</em> Stone, <em>A. tumida</em> Stone, <em>A. furcata</em> Lima and <em>A.</em> sp. new species<em>, </em>of which last two are new records for Mexico. Some taxonomic aspects are discussed, as well as the relationship of the ecosystems present in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec with the vegetal communities of the Southern Hemisphere, possible diversification patterns of the species present in this region and their relationship with their congeners of Central and South America. With these new reports the number of <em>Anastrepha</em> species recorded in this state increased to 27.</p>

A new genus of Eurycopinae (Munnopsidae), Dubinectes gen. nov., is described for Eurycope acutitelson Menzies, 1962, E. nodosa Menzies, 1962 and two new species, collected from the Weddell Sea, Southern Ocean. The new genus is distinguished by the distinctive shape of the pleotelson posterior margin and the uropod protopod angled at midlength, along with the robust, long rostrum of a large head, overhanging frons, reduced distomedial lobe of article 1 of antenna 1, the produced male pleopod 1 distolateral lobes and the distinct shape of the male pleopod 2. Descriptions of the new genus, two new species and redescriptions of two previously described species are presented, as well as a new diagnosis of the subfamily Eurycopinae, the genus Eurycope and a key to the genera of Eurycopinae.
