Pseudolaguvia vespa, new species, is described from the Tsücha River, Mokokchung district, Nagaland, India. The new species can be distinguished from congeners in having the following combination of characters: length of dorsal-fin spine 12.3–16.8% SL, a smooth anterior edge of the dorsal-fin spine, caudal peduncle depth 9.0–10.5% SL, body depth at anus 15.6–17.7% SL, caudal fin length 20.7–24.5% SL, pectoral fin length 20.1–24.1% SL, interorbital distance 22.7–28.1% SL, thoracic adhesive apparatus extending to midway between base of last pectoral-fin ray and pelvic-fin origin, and live specimens with two irregular, chrome-yellow bands on the body.

A new gobioid fish Luciogobius yubai sp. nov. is described based on specimens collected from Wakayama and Shizuoka Prefectures, Japan. This species is distinguished from congeners by the following combination of characters; second dorsal-fin I, 9, anal-fin I, 10, pectoral-fin 17 or 18, vertebrate number 16+19=35, the first space between anterior two pterygiophores of second dorsal-fin placed the neural spines of vertebrae 17–18 or 17, four to seven developed dermal flaps under the eye longitudinally, posterior part of eye ridge protruded posteriorly, pectoral-fin with a long uppermost free ray, eye diameter 7.3–10.6 % of head length, pectoral-fin length 14.4–16.9 % of standard length (SL) , second dorsal-fin length 9.7–11.8 % SL, anal-fin ray length 9.1–11.1 % SL, pelvic-fin length 7.3–10.8 % SL, head and body with brownish orange coloration when alive or fresh.

Chlorophthalmus imperator sp. nov. (Teleostei: Chlorophthalmidae) is described on the basis of nine specimens (98.1–174.8 mm SL) from the Emperor Seamount Chain in the central North Pacific. The new species is characterized by the following combination of characters: 49–51 lateral-line scales; 6 scale rows above lateral line; 3 + 19–22 = 22–25 (modally 22) gill rakers; outermost tooth patches of lower jaw with 6–14 large thorn-shaped teeth, the tips projecting in advance of lower-jaw profile; lower-jaw symphysis with two distinct moderately-sized projections; tongue without teeth; pelvic-fin origin vertically below 4th or 5th (usually 5th) dorsal-fin ray base; head length 26.7–28.9 (mean 27.7) % SL; snout length 6.9–7.7 (7.3) % SL; horizontal orbit diameter 11.9–12.9 (12.3) % SL; upper-jaw length 11.7–13.2 (12.6) % SL; maxillary depth 3.1–3.8 (3.4) % SL; pre-dorsal-fin length 34.2–36.6 (35.3) % SL; pre-pectoral-fin length 27.3–29.8 (27.9) % SL; anus to anal-fin origin length 27.3–29.9 (28.5) % SL; pectoral-fin length 21.0–24.9 (22.7) % SL.

Chrysobrycon yoliae, new species, is described from a drainage flowing into the río Yucamia basin, río Ucayali basin, Peru. Chrysobrycon yoliaeis readily distinguished from its congeners by the anterior tip of pelvic bone situated anterior to the fifth rib (vs. situated posterior to the fifth rib), the presence of 20-26 dentary teeth (vs. 11-19), and the possession of a terminal lateral-line tube between caudal-fin rays 10 and 11 (vs. the absence of this tube, except in C. eliasi). The new species differs from C. eliasiand C. myersiby the presence of teeth on third pharyngobranchial (vs. the absence of teeth on this bone) and also differs from C. eliasiby the dorsal-fin origin situated at vertical through anal-fin rays 5 to 7 (vs. located at vertical through anal-fin rays 8 to 10), the posterior extent of the ventral process of quadrate reaching the vertical through posterior margin of symplectic (vs. not reaching the vertical through posterior margin of symplectic), the dorsal-fin to adipose-fin length 26.8-28.8% SL (vs. 23.9-26.8% SL), and the body depth at dorsal-fin origin 34.4-42.2% SL (vs. 24.1-34.5% SL). A key for the identification of Chrysobryconspecies is provided.

A new species of Gephyrocharax is described from the río Cascajales basin, a tributary of the río La Colorada, río Magdalena system, Colombia. The new species is distinguished from its congeners, exceptG. melanocheir, by the absence of an adipose fin in most specimens and by the possession of a lateral branched pectoral-fin ray in males with a distal fan-shaped structure with minute bony hooks and a dark blotch or a few scattered dark brown chromatophores along its branches. The new species differs from G.melanocheir by the absence of an intense black pigmentation at the base of the anterior five dorsal-fin rays, the number of vertebrae (40-41vs. 38-39), the frontals contacting each other anterior to the epiphyseal bar in adults (vs. the absence of contact), the posterior margin of the mesethmoid straight in its central portion (vs. strongly concave at this point), the pouch scale of mature males reaching caudal-fin ray 11 or the area between caudal-fin rays 11 and 12 (vs. reaching only to caudal-fin ray 10 or the area between caudal-fin rays 9 and 10), the number of minute terminal branches of the lateral branched pectoral-fin ray of mature males (60-88 vs. 28-54), a longer black lateral stripe along the body in males (reaching to the base of the caudal-fin rays vs. reaching the middle of the length of the caudal peduncle), and the snout length (28.3-31.8% HLvs. 22.2-28.0% HL). The diagnosis ofGephyrocharax is modified to include species with the adipose fin variably present

Eugerres castroaguirrei, new species is described from the río Grijalva-Usumacinta basin of southeastern Mexico and northern Guatemala. Eugerres castroaguirrei and E. mexicanus are distinguishable from their marine estuarine congeners by the dorsal-fin origin posterior to the insertion of the pectoral and pelvic fins, a shorter and broad based supraoccipital crest, and a distinct geographic distribution restricted to freshwater habitats. Eugerres castroaguirrei differs from E. mexicanus by diagnostic characters of the body skeleton: anterior process of supraoccipital convex, infraorbital 1 with foramen, premaxillary ascending process developed with margins curved, pharyngeal plate granular and not serially arranged, and dorsal and anal fin-rays reduced. Likewise, E. castroaguirrei is characterized by an oblong and laterally thicker body (37.6-58.5% HL); greater body depth (33.8-42.1% SL), and eye diameter (23.3-31.6% HL); in addition to 16 significant morphometric characters: length of the second dorsal-fin spine 23.2-34.2% SL; depressed second dorsal-fin spine (extending to base of third to fourth dorsal-fin rays); length of second anal-fin spine 11.1-20.6% SL, depressed second anal-fin spine extending to the base of third to fourth anal-fin rays not reaching the distal point of last anal-fin ray; pelvic-fin spine length 49.7-65.0% in the first pelvic-fin ray length

The presence of the sisorid catfish genus Erethistoides in Myanmar, represented by three new species, is recorded for thefirst time. This discovery from the Irrawaddy and Sittang river drainages from central Myanmar and the Ann ChaungRiver drainage in western Myanmar extends the documented range of the genus beyond the Ganges/Brahmaputra Riverbasin. Erethistoides longispinis is distinguished from congeners in having the following unique combination ofcharacters: length of the dorsal-fin spine 24–27% SL, length of the pectoral-fin spine 29–35% SL, and absence ofproximally-directed serrations on the anterior edge of the pectoral spine. Erethistoides luteolus differs from congeners inhaving the following combination of characters: yellow base color of the body, body with distinct bands, vertebrae 30,premaxillary tooth band partially exposed when the mouth is closed, length of the dorsal-fin spine 14–15% SL, length ofthe pectoral-fin spine 21–24% SL, absence of proximally-directed serrations on the anterior edge of the pectoral spine,length of the adipose-fin base 16–17% SL, length of the caudal peduncle 22–25% SL and depth of the caudal peduncle 6–7% SL. Erethistoides vesculus is distinguished from congeners in having the following combination of characters: creambase color of the body, body with distinct bands, vertebrae 30, premaxillary tooth band partially exposed when the mouthis closed, length of the dorsal-fin spine 15% SL, length of the pectoral-fin spine 22–23% SL, absence of proximally-directed serrations on the anterior edge of the pectoral spine, length of the adipose-fin base 14–15% SL, length of the caudal peduncle 19–21% SL and depth of the caudal peduncle 4–5% SL.

Botia udomritthiruji sp. nov. is described from the Tenasserim River drainage in southern Myanmar. It can be distinguished from congeners by its color pattern, consisting of five dark vertical bars on the body, with the central portion of these bars paler than its edges; with increasing age, the edges of these bars become more irregular and darker, and irregular dark spots on the pale interspaces begin to form, sometimes fusing with the edges of the vertical bars. In morphology, it differs from congeners by a combination of: body depth at anus 23.4–27.7% SL, caudal peduncle depth 15.9– 18.7% SL, and 12 dorsal-fin rays. Evidence for considering B. macrolineata a junior synonym of B. dario and for considering B. rostrata a species distinct from B. almorhae is also presented here.

This study describes Pseudolaguvia spicula, a new miniature sisorid catfish from the Surma-Meghna River system in India and Bangladesh. Pseudolaguvia spicula can be distinguished from congeners in having a combination of: head width 19.2–22.6% SL, dorsal-fin spine length 11.6–14.3% SL, length of dorsal-fin base 13.2–15.9% SL, pectoral-fin spine length 15.7–17.4% SL, length of adipose-fin base 14.7–17.1% SL, pelvic-fin length 14.6–17.1% SL, body depth at anus 12.8–16.8% SL, caudal peduncle length 15.4–17.9% SL, caudal peduncle depth 7.9–9.6% SL, caudal-fin length 24.2–27.5% SL, snout length 48.6–51.9% HL, eye diameter 10.6–13.9% HL, 30–32 vertebrae, smooth anterior edge of dorsal-fin spine, thoracic adhesive apparatus reaching beyond base of last pectoral-fin ray, absence of pale y-shaped marking on dorsal surface of head and supraoccipital process, and indistinct, pale vertical bands on body.

Four new species of Rhinogobius Gill 1859 are described from the Black River drainage in China and Vietnam. Rhinogobius coccinella, new species, and R. nanophyllum, new species, are described from the Mengyejiang River in Yunnan, China. Rhinogobius coccinella is diagnosed by having the cheek and operculum with about 25 large dark spots and branchiostegal membrane unmarked; caudal-peduncle depth 11–12% SL; 1–5 predorsal scales; 27–30 midlateral scales; and 28 vertebrae. Rhinogobius nanophyllum is diagnosed by having the cheek, operculum and pectoral-fin base with about 90 indistinct white marks, caudal fin plain-colored, second dorsal fin magnified with a very broad dark gray median band and a broad white proximal band in males; caudal-peduncle length 22–25% SL and pectoral-fin length 21–24% SL in males; head width at operculum 53–58% HL in males, 58–61% HL in females; 0 predorsal scales; 8–10 branched rays in the second dorsal fin; 7–8 branched anal-fin rays; and 28 vertebrae. Rhinogobius ngutinhoceps, new species, is described from the Nam Na River in Lai Chau, Vietnam. It differs from all congeners by the presence of a supraotic pore β; cheek and operculum with about 65 dark marks and branchiostegal membrane unmarked in males; snout pointed; lower jaw conspicuously protruding; predorsal length 40–41% SL; 12–15 predorsal scales; and 29 vertebrae. Rhinogobius phuongae, new species, is described from the Nam Mu River in Lai Chau, Vietnam, and is diagnosed by having the cheek with about 25 indistinct dark spots and branchiostegal membrane with pale spots in males; operculum unmarked; flank plain-colored in males; a conspicuous black blotch between spines I and III of the first dorsal fin; unpaired fins with a very broad white distal band; pectoral-fin length 20–21% SL; 8–10 predorsal scales; 8–9 branched rays in the second dorsal fin; and 28 vertebrae. A key to the species of Rhinogobius occurring within the Red River drainage is given.

Mustura taretensis, a new nemacheilid loach, is described from the Taret River, a tributary of the Yu River, Chindwin River drainage, Manipur, India. The new species is distinguished from all its congeners by a unique combination of the following characters: body with 12–13 irregular dark-brown blotches or bars on flank, alternating with 11–16 irregular dark-brown saddles on the back; dorsum of head with a distinctly visible rhomboid dark-brown mark encircling a pale oval area on the nape; dorsal fin with 9½­ or 10½ branched rays; lateral line complete; a well-developed free posterior chamber of air bladder, the halves of air bladder capsules connected by a manubrium; poorly developed processus dentiformis; suborbital flap present in males; and body depth 12.8–16.0 % SL. The generic status of Mustura chindwinensis, M. dikrongensis, M. tigrina and M. tuivaiensis are also discussed in the paper.
