Pseudolaguvia vespa, new species, is described from the Tsücha River, Mokokchung district, Nagaland, India. The new species can be distinguished from congeners in having the following combination of characters: length of dorsal-fin spine 12.3–16.8% SL, a smooth anterior edge of the dorsal-fin spine, caudal peduncle depth 9.0–10.5% SL, body depth at anus 15.6–17.7% SL, caudal fin length 20.7–24.5% SL, pectoral fin length 20.1–24.1% SL, interorbital distance 22.7–28.1% SL, thoracic adhesive apparatus extending to midway between base of last pectoral-fin ray and pelvic-fin origin, and live specimens with two irregular, chrome-yellow bands on the body.

AbstractThe time-fractional derivative based on the Grunwald–Letnikove derivative of the 2D-ISPH method is applying to emulate the dual rotation on MHD natural convection in a hexagonal-shaped cavity suspended by nano-encapsulated phase change material (NEPCM). The dual rotation is performed between the inner fin and outer hexagonal-shaped cavity. The impacts of a fractional time derivative $$\alpha$$ α $$\left( {0.92 \le \alpha \le 1} \right)$$ 0.92 ≤ α ≤ 1 , Hartmann number Ha $$\left( {0 \le Ha \le 80} \right)$$ 0 ≤ H a ≤ 80 , fin length $$\left( {0.2 \le L_{Fin} \le 1} \right)$$ 0.2 ≤ L Fin ≤ 1 , Darcy parameter Da $$\left( {10^{ - 2} \le Da \le 10^{ - 4} } \right)$$ 10 - 2 ≤ D a ≤ 10 - 4 , Rayleigh number Ra $$\left( {10^{3} \le Ra \le 10^{6} } \right)$$ 10 3 ≤ R a ≤ 10 6 , fusion temperature $$\theta_{f}$$ θ f $$\left( {0.05 \le \theta_{f} \le 0.8} \right)$$ 0.05 ≤ θ f ≤ 0.8 , and solid volume fraction $$\varphi$$ φ $$\left( {0 \le \varphi \le 0.06} \right)$$ 0 ≤ φ ≤ 0.06 on the velocity field, isotherms, and mean Nusselt number $$\overline{Nu}$$ Nu ¯ are discussed. The outcomes signaled that a dual rotation of the inner fin and outer domain is affected by a time-fractional derivative. The inserted cool fin is functioning efficiently in the cooling process and adjusting the phase change zone within a hexagonal-shaped cavity. An increment in fin length augments the cooling process and changes the location of a phase change zone. A fusion temperature $$\theta_{f}$$ θ f adjusts the strength and position of a phase change zone. The highest values of $$\overline{Nu}$$ Nu ¯ are obtained when $$\alpha = 1$$ α = 1 . An expansion in Hartmann number $$Ha $$ Ha reduces the values of $$\overline{Nu}$$ Nu ¯ . Adding more concentration of nanoparticles is improving the values of $$\overline{Nu}$$ Nu ¯ .

Abstract Sucker barb fish is one of the potential of fish resources in Tasik river. This study aimed to determine the morphometric and meristic characteristics of the growth of sucker barb fish in the Tasik River. The method used in this study is a survey method using the fishing net and gillnet with mesh size 1,5 inches. The nets are placed in the afternoon, then lifted in the morning. This is done 3 times with a span of 2 weeks in the three research stations. The number of samples collected were 135 fish. The morphometric characteristics of sucker barb fish are bodyweight (BT) ranging from 9-85 g, total length (PT) ranging from 100-230 mm, standard length (PS) ranging from 75-176 mm, head length (PK) of 20-42 mm, snout length (PM) of 30 mm, the height of dorsal fin (TSP) of 40 mm, length of the base of dorsal fin (PPSP) of 15-30 mm, eye diameter (DM) of 10 mm, caudal peduncle (TBE) of 8-22 mm, body height (TB) of 17-40 mm, pectoral fin length (PSD) of 30 mm and pelvic fin length (PSP) of 25 mm. Meristic characteristics are the characteristics of counting the scales and fins of sucker barb fish. The number of scales in the lateral lines (LL) is 35-38, the body coiled scales (SMB) are 6, the scales around the pectoral fin (PF) P 10-14, anal fin (AF) A 8 and caudal fin (CF) C 18. The growth pattern of sucker barb fish in the Tasik River is allometric negative

In the existent study, combined magneto-convection heat exchange in a driven enclosure having vertical fin was analyzed numerically. The finite element system-based GWR procedure was utilized to determine the flow model’s governing equations. A parametric inquiry was executed to review the influence of Richardson and Hartmann numbers on flow shape and heat removal features inside a frame. The problem’s resulting numerical outcomes were demonstrated graphically in terms of isotherms, streamlines, velocity sketches, local Nusselt number, global Nusselt number, and global fluid temperature. It was found that the varying lengths of the fin surface have a substantial impact on flow building and heat line sketch. Further, it was also noticed that a relatively fin length is needed to increase the heat exchange rate on the right cool wall at a high Richardson number. The fin can significantly enhance heat removal performance rate from an enclosure to adjacent fluid.

Abstract Suction piles are a form of foundation widely adopted in the offshore energy industry. Efforts to enhance the combined Vertical-Horizontal (V-H) performance of piles with the addition of fins, attracted interest from the engineering community in the beginning of the 21st century. Design of this enhancement was surfaced whilst examining foundation solutions for renewable energy projects. Studies to date have primarly considered relatively shallow waters comprising sandy soils, with the behaviour of fin-enhanced piles in very soft to soft clay soils, receiving less attention. The present study emphasis is on typical deep-water deposits of soft clay and attempts to evaluate the impact of varying fin length, shape, orientation and location, on the combined capacity of suction piles by means of three-dimensional finite element analyses. The paper investigates two types of load configuration; in the first instance loading at the pile head and secondly with the load attachment point located at approximately two thirds of the pile embedded length. These two configurations cover different foundation solutions, such as support for subsea infrastructure and anchoring for floating facilities, respectively. Optimum fin-enhanced suction pile configurations are presented for each application, with the results from this study indicating an increase of the load-carrying capacity in V-H space, whilst reducing the overall suction pile size. The efficiency of various configurations is presented with composite plots of increase in holding capacity, plotted against the increase in steel surface area. Preliminary recommendations on fin length, location, shape and orientation for typical suction pile applications are presented with intent to demonstrate the potential for cost savings and reduction in both operational and schedule risk.

A new species of Coloconger is described from a large female collected off eastern Taiwan. It can be distinguished from congeners by having a large black blotch on rear portion of tail; posterior end of tail white; and combination of characters: head small 15.7% TL; 4 supratemporal pores, middle 2 in pair; 7 supraorbital pores, 2 pores over posterior nostril; 12 or 14 infraorbital pores; 14 preoperculomandibular pores; 226 dorsal-fin rays and 122 anal-fin rays; preanal vertebrae 77 and total vertebrae 145; rictus through a vertical of posterior margin of pupil; snout shorter than eye diameter; distance between origins of pectoral and dorsal fins 69.4% pectoral-fin length; and body brownish gray dorsally, light gray ventrally, and dorsal fin dark gray. Data and variations of Coloconger japonicus found in Taiwan are provided and discussed.

Purpose This paper aims to seek purely analytical results relying on the physical parameters including the temperature jump parameter. Design/methodology/approach The exponential fin profiles and heat transfer enhancement influenced by a temperature jump at the base are the main targets of this paper. Findings The introduced temperature slip at the base penetrates through the surface of the fin and reorganizes the distribution of temperature all over the surface. The overall impact of the temperature jump on the fin efficiency is such that it acts to lower the fin efficiency. However, the efficiency of the exponential fin is increasing for growing shape exponential fins as compared to the rectangular and decaying ones. Hence, exponential fins amenable to certain temperature jump has significance in technological cooling processes. Finally, the optimum dimensions regarding the base fin thickness and the fin length of the exponential profiles are assessed by means of optimizing the base heat transfer rate given a cross-sectional area. Originality/value Exact solutions are provided for optimum exponential type fins subjected to a temperature jump. The optimum dimensions regarding the base fin thickness and the fin length of the exponential profiles are assessed.

Understanding inter-population variation and sexual differences in morphology is a fundamental part of taxonomic and biological research. External morphology of swamp barb (Puntius brevis) was compared between sexes and among three populations in the Mekong Delta, including O Mon-Can Tho (n=86), U Minh Thuong-Kien Giang (n=49) and U Minh Ha-Ca Mau (n=77). The results illustrate that color and countable parameters are similar in all populations. Nonetheless, 9 out of 20 morphometric indices are significantly different among three populations (P<0.05), where 6 indices are more important criteria to distinguish among swamp barb populations. Furthermore, the sexual dimorphism of this species is indicated in 16/20 morphometric indices consisting of 5 indices relating egg-carrying characteristics. In particular, the females have higher values of indices relating to abdomen and head parts while most of fin length indices are larger in males than in females. In sum, intraspecific variation in morphometrics of swamp barb is mainly due to sexual dimorphism rather than populations.

Abstract In current paper, a finned micro-channel is designed for the cooling application in Light Edding Diode (LED), numerically. Selected materials for LED-chip is GaN, Die from Si, Die-attach is made by Au-20Sn, substrate is copper and heat sink material is considered to be Al. To make a convection heat transfer for cooling process, Al2O3-water nanofluid is used as the cooling fluid flow through the micro-channel and tried to maximize the heat transfer efficiency by optimized geometry. For this aim, there geometry variables from the microchannel were selected and minimum possible geometry cases (11cases) were proposed by Central composite design (CCD) and variables were optimized by the Response Surface Method (RSM). As a main result, parameter B, i.e. fin length had the most effect on the Nusselt number and Al2O3 nanoparticles with φ = 0.01 stated greatest heat transfer value.
