Cellulose nanofibers (CNF) were isolated fromGigantochloa scortechiniibamboo fibers using sulphuric acid hydrolysis. This method was compared with pulping and bleaching process for bamboo fiber. Scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis were used to determine the properties of CNF. Structural analysis by FT-IR showed that lignin and hemicelluloses were effectively removed from pulp, bleached fibers, and CNF. It was found that CNF exhibited uniform and smooth morphological structures, with fiber diameter ranges from 5 to 10 nm. The percentage of crystallinity was significantly increased from raw fibers to cellulose nanofibers, microfibrillated, along with significant improvement in thermal stability. Further, obtained CNF were used as reinforcement material in epoxy based nanocomposites where tensile strength, flexural strength, and modulus of nanocomposites improved with the addition of CNF loading concentration ranges from 0 to 0.7%.

ABSTRACTNano-graphite oxide has been synthesized from graphite flakes using modified Hummer’s method. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) data, x-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed functionalization of the synthesised nano-graphitic platelets with oxygenated bonds. Using thermal embedding technique for the fabrication of self-assembled films, electrodes of nano-graphite oxide have been fabricated for enzyme free detection of cholesterol electrochemically. The electrodes provided a linear response for the enzyme less detection in the range of 50mg/dl to 500mg/dl with a correlation coefficient, R, of 0.99784 and sensitivity of 1.0587 µA/mg.

The bioceramics, calcium hydroxyapatite (HA), is a material which is biocompatible to the human body and is well suited to be used in hyperthermia applications for the treatment of bone cancer. We synthesis hydroxyapatite in modified synthetic body fluid (SBF) solutions at 37°C and pH of 7.4 using a novel chemical precipitation technique. Then after heat operation, on filtered precipitated result HA were produced. For loading the silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) on the hydroxyapatite we use AgNO3 solution. And for reducing Ag+ ions apply sodium borohydrate solution. The formations of the silver nanoparticles on the HAP structure were confirmed by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy (TEM). TEM image show the nanostructure of silver particles, being formed on hydroxyapatite texture.

Nowadays, the hummers method for preparation of graphene oxide (GO) was improved. The grapheme oxide @ Fe3O4 magnetic nanocomposites were synthesized by co-precipitation method. After analysing the morphology and structure of obtained nanocomposites by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, the result was shown as follows. The particle size of Fe3O4 in nanocomposites is 30 nm. Many functional groups are found in grapheme oxide, and such groups could be used to bind with the drug. In the test for magnetic properties, the nanocomposites gathered rapidly in the vicinity of the permanent magnet. The nanocomposites, with high superparamagnetism, can be used in the following applications: drug targeting transports, drug carrier, and diagnosis assistant system.

The solvent-mediated eco-friendly monodispersed Ag/Pd bimetallic nanocomposites (BNCs) having thick core and thin shell have been prepared through novel green chemical solvent reduction method. Reducing solvent, dimethyl formamide (DMF) is employed for the controlled green synthesis. Characterization of the synthesized Ag/Pd BNCs has been done by x-ray diffraction (XRD) studies, high-resolution scanning electron microscopy (HR-SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) with selected area electron diffraction (SAED) pattern. The nature of the interaction of L-cysteine with Ag/Pd BNCs has been studied by using surface plasmon spectroscopy, Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and theoretical methods.

AbstractThe crystal structure of pyridinium 6-methyl-1,2,3,-oxathiazine-4(3H)-one-2,2-dioxide [(C5NH6)(C4H4NO4S)], for short, pyH(ace), was determined by X-ray diffraction methods. It crystallizes as a twin in the monoclinic space group P21/c with a=6.9878(9), b=7.2211(7), c=21.740(2) Å, β=91.67(1)° and Z=4 molecules per unit cell. The structure was determined employing 1599 reflections with I>2σ(I) from one of the twin domains and refined employing 2092 reflections from both crystal domains to an agreement R1 factor of 0.0466. Besides electrostatic attractions, intermolecular pyH···O=C(ace) hydrogen bonds stabilize the acesulfamate anion and the pyridinium cation into planar discrete units parallel to the (100) crystal plane. The units form stacks of alternating ace− and pyH+ ions along the a axis that favors inter-ring π–π interactions. The Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectrum of the compound was recorded and is briefly discussed. Some comparisons with related pyridinium saccharinate salts are also made.

Silver-cerium nanoparticles had been successfully synthesized using the sol-gel method by silver nitrate as a source of silver and cerium nitrate hexahydrate as a source of cerium. The synthesized silver-cerium nanoparticles had been characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray. Based on the results of XRD and TEM analysis showed silver-cerium nanoparticles were spherical with the dominant size range of 8.9 -12.73 nm. SEM-EDX analysis showed silver nanoparticles covered by cerium nanoparticles that were known as the core-shell structure. Silver nanoparticles doped with cerium nanoparticles (CeONP) showed an increase in inhibitory with an increase a zone of inhibition after being doped with cerium nanoparticles. The disinfection effect of Ag-doped CeONP was more pronounced on Staphylococcus aureus than Escherichia coli, although the difference was not wide.

Nano-sized molybdenum disulfide has been prepared by hydrothermal method via surfactant and ultrasonic assistance, using sodium molybdate and thiourea as reagents. The as-synthesized MoS2 samples were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and transmission electron microscope (TEM); the effects of addition of CTAB on reaction process and resulted particles have been investigated in detail. It has been shown that the addition of CTAB can not only prevent the agglomeration of the particles, but regulate their morphologies and phase compositions. The resulting 2H-MoS2 with hexagonal phase and average size of 10-20nm can be directly obtained at low hydrothermal temperature needless of high-temperature sintering and inert gas protection.
