The widespread use of private military and security companies (PMSCs) in United Nations peacebuilding missions often undermines the effectiveness of these missions. PMSCs tend to encourage, in unnecessary ways, what is called security risk management and promote the militarization of humanitarian efforts. They encourage humanitarian aid organizations to protect their personnel with barbed wire fences, security guards, armed convoys, and secure aid compounds, even if the security risks are relatively low. Consequently, these militarized humanitarian efforts heighten the perception of risks and intensify security measures, which create physical and psychological barriers between humanitarian aid personnel and the local communities in which they carry out their tasks. This situation undermines local ownership of peacebuilding efforts and makes them less responsive to the local communities involved in these efforts. This article provides a comparative analysis of the nature of this problem and its effects in the Global South.

The purpose of this paper is to introduce a model to manage knowledge security risks in organizations. Knowledge security risk management is a sensemaking process that should be carried out by managers, and the proposed model works as a tool for the sensemaking process. The model is illustrated with an analytical case example. The process model helps to identify knowledge security risks and provides a comprehensive approach to evaluating and balancing the costs and benefits of knowledge sharing and knowledge risk management. The paper addresses calls for research on the emerging topic of knowledge security and the important topic of new knowledge sharing tools from the combined perspectives of business benefits and risk management. The results presented in this paper are preliminary and conceptual, and further research on the topic is suggested. The process model proposed in this paper can be a valuable tool for practitioners aiming to develop knowledge sharing practices in companies, and at the same time need to consider the security of knowledge.

The process model presented helps to identify knowledge security risks and provides a comprehensive approach to evaluating and balancing the costs and benefits of knowledge sharing and knowledge risk management and is discussed in light of the benefits realization process. The process model can be a valuable tool for practitioners aiming to develop knowledge sharing practices in companies, and at the same time need to consider the security of knowledge. It is also a communication tool for managers to identify possible risk sources and sources for business benefits, and as such works as a translation tool in many business contexts.

Purpose of the article is the actualization of problematic issues related to the identification of risks and threats to the tax security of the enterprise, which is a trigger for the probable onset of the “fiscal crisis” and is a consequence of COVID-19. Research methodology – The article used general scientific research methods (observation, comparison, modeling, generalization), methods of tax risk management were used for minimizing the impact of COVID-19 on the activities of enterprises and extrapolation method was used for identifying the stages of tax security risk management. Findings – The generalization of factual material and statistical data allowed to establish that in modern conditions of business environment development the main threats to tax security of the enterprise were the probability of global epidemic risk, the risk of military collaboration, the risk of management failure and effective risk of social destabilization. Practical implications – It has been recommended to take actions in the field of minimizing tax security risks taking into account the implementation of the Fiscal Roadmap for economic recovery. Research limitations – One of the main limitations of this study is that the main proposals of the article are formed taking into account the peculiarities of the tax system of Ukraine. Originality/Value – consists in identifying the impact of general state policy on minimizing tax risks of business entities as a result of assessing the experience of minimizing tax risks in the context of Covid-19 based on Ukrainian national practice.

AbstractAutonomous vehicles (AV) are intelligent information systems that perceive, collect, generate and disseminate information to improve knowledge to act autonomously and provide its required services of mobility, safety, and comfort to humans. This paper combines the security risk management (ISSRM) and operationally critical threat, asset, and vulnerability evaluation (OCTAVE allegro) methods to define and assess the AV protected assets, security risks, and countermeasures.

This chapter is about a new security risk management strategy for financial services institutions. The proper strategy presented here takes the systematic and cybernetics theory as the instruction, regards the risk analysis process, the management strategy implementation, and the monitor and audit as an organic security management system. Thus the strategy is an auto adapted open system to defeat various safety threats dynamically. By comparing management of electronic commerce (e-commerce) security risks with that of traditional financial risks, this chapter suggests accurate security risk measurement using quantitative analysis and further integration of the e-commerce security risk with traditional financial risks.

Viewing from the life cycle of construction project, this paper aims to explore the characteristics, types and causes of life circle security risks in large public buildings on the strength of project risk management theory and the related theories of value chain. It proposes the management strategy for handling the life cycle security risk of large public buildings based on the stage and scope of risk effects respectively, providing the significant reference for the major participants of large public buildings to implement the security risk management and reduce the probability of safe accidents in large public buildings.
