This paper describes the use of content analysis and correspondence analysis in respect of case study research performed by the author in the field of strategic information systems planning. During the collection of data from the firms participating in the case study research the author collected in excess of 200 pages of text. It was necessary to analyse and summarize the data in order to see what general principles relating to the formulation and implementation of a strategic information system could be derived. The main process adopted for this analysis and synthesis was content analysis. Correspondence analysis was then applied in order to help corroborate the findings of the content analysis.

Data collection is a critical aspect of any research. To this point, it is very important that a researcher has a good understanding of why, where and how to collect data. Broadly speaking, there are two main research and data collection approaches; namely, quantitative and qualitative methodologies. These two approaches are used both in academia and professional domains. This study focuses on philosophical assumptions underpinning Information Systems (IS) research. The philosophical assumptions underlying interpretive, case study research tradition and approach implies a subjective epistemology and the ontological belief that reality is socially constructed. The study investigated the challenges of interpretive, case study research strategy and empirical techniques applied in the information systems discipline. This paper focuses on the realistic challenges that researchers face while conducting a qualitative, interpretive, case study, particularly during data collection.

In this article, some examples of case study research are considered in the examples from expert practice, namely: signatures and handwritten records of surnames and initials, serving as certificates of specific persons, in the locations of which there were no additional strokes that did not belong to. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to determine the necessity of a comprehensive handwriting and technical study of documents for objective, comprehensive and complete research and to provide a sound and correct conclusion for the questions posed before the examination. When considering the tasks, cognitive methods were used: description and observation; methods of analysis and synthesis. The above examples from expert practice and the presented studies prove the importance of strict observance of expert handwriting of all stages and levels of the expert method of investigation of signatures (short manuscripts); the need for complex research: handwriting and technical study of documents, in the case of identifying unnecessary strokes at the location of the studied handwriting objects; compulsory mastery of the expert-handwriter basic knowledge of technical study of documents.

Case study research can be reported in different ways. This paper explores the various ways in which researchers may choose to write down their case studies and then introduces a subsequent typology of writing case studies. The typology is based on a 2 × 2 matrix, resulting in four forms of writing case studies: chronology, play, biography and voices. The four forms are characterized and discussed and some methodological issues concerning the writing of case studies are highlighted.

The garment industry stands out as the second-largest employer in the manufacturing industry, but it is singled out for environmentally and socially unsustainable practices. In this study, managers of ten companies in Teresina (Piauí State, Brazil) were interviewed to investigate textile waste management methods and instruments and the difficulties and challenges found in management. Methodologically, it was used bibliographical, exploratory, documental and case study research. The research instruments were the questionnaire, direct observation and interview. Data were assessed through content analysis. The results show that part of the production-related waste is donated to manufacture rugs and fuxico, discarded for everyday collection. The conclusion we came across is that the clothing industry in Teresina lacks better management of its production process to generate less waste. When it is not possible to reuse it, dispose of it properly.
