This paper studies the manner of energy consumption in Libyan street lighting systems and general road section. It also suggests proposal system with two cases of operation for an attempt to apply the energy saving program by adopting an optimum method in order to decrease the demand of energy in this section and to reduce the use of uneconomic equipment. The proposal system in this paper introduces the Light Emitting Diode (LED) street lighting technology to be used instead of traditional luminaries High Pressure Sodium (HPS). The proposed system is divided into two cases. The first case discusses the replacement of traditional luminaries (HPS) with energy saving luminaries (LED), while second case explains how integrating control node (dynamic dimmer) into LED in order to dim output lighting in streets will save more energy. This study reaches a result that a significant amount of energy of %47 (about 1092.23 GWh/year) of total energy consumed in street lighting sector could be saved if first case is applied. Moreover, it suggests that more energy of %58 (about 1380.02 GWh/year) of total energy consumed in the same sector cloud be saved if the second case is adopted.

Reducing energy costs during the production of agro-industrial livestock production by maintaining the required lighting parameters is an urgent task. The largest consumption of electricity in farms is by electric lighting. The mass transition to energy-efficient equipment, using control systems in livestock and industrial premises of the agro-industrial complex, leads to increased energy savings and maintenance of optimal microclimate mode. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in developing energy-saving lighting installations, a program for automatic control of the lighting system and assessing the prospects for their use for enterprises of the agro-industrial complex. (Materials and methods) The article presents an overview of developments, scientifically based led lighting devices to maintain the required lighting parameters in livestock and industrial premises of the agro-industrial complex, in order to save electricity. Authors have determined that the technical effect of the proposed lighting installations is in reducing the electrical energy consumed. In one of them by creating a special shape of the light intensity curve, and in the second one by converting thermal energy into electrical energy used for additional power supply of the lamp. (Results and discussion) The article presents the results of research on the development of a program for automatic control of lighting systems for the implementation of energy-saving mode of operation. Authors consider the possibility of maintaining and regulating optimal illumination with the help of programmable controllers. (Conclusions) The analysis of the state and prospects of development of lighting systems showed the possibilities of development of scientifically based led lighting devices, as well as programs for regulating lighting in livestock premises based on programmable controllers. The use of the system will allow achieving optimal parameters of the microclimate, increasing productive and reproductive indicators, and effectively use optical radiation by reducing the consumption of electrical energy by up to 30 percent with the same quality of lighting.

The light emitting diode (LED) street lighting systems based on solar photovoltaic technology have been used for some time. In this paper, we present an analysis aiming at assessing the feasibility and economic performance of a solar-powered street lighting system for a 1km road. The present study introduces the architecture of a classical solar-powered LED street lighting system and estimates the total investment cost for a 1 km highway with 2 lanes. The cost comparison of solar-powered LED lighting and sodium lamps using grid was carried out. The calculations show that the energy saving effect of solar-powered LED lighting systems is obvious but the initial investment of solar-powered LED systems is more than sodium lighting systems using grid. The investment cycle is about 2.2 years under the current conditions.

Issues of energy saving in the organization of lighting in poultry industry. Researched the features and role of the light on the process of growing poultry, in particular broilers. Analyzed of the traditional lighting systems in the poultry industry, and energy-efficient LED lighting, their strengths, weaknesses and the specific application.

Measures for the reduction of electric energy loads for lighting have predominantly focussed on increasing the efficiency of lighting systems. This efficiency has now reached levels unthinkable a few decades ago. However, a focus on mere efficiency is physically limiting, and does not necessarily ensure that the anticipated energy savings actually materialize. There are technical and non-technical reasons because of which effective integration of lighting solutions and their controls, and thus a reduction in energy use, does not happen.
