The relevance of research. In modern educational conditions, it is important for applicants to independently regulate academic activities and find solutions to overcome unforeseen negative situations. The purpose of the study is to reveal the correlation between indicators of ways to overcome negative situations and academic self-regulation. Research methods - The experimental research was carried out on the basis of the H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University and the Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy. The study involved applicants for education in the area 05 Social and Behavioral Sciences of 1, 3 and 5 courses in the number of 244 persons (187 girls and 57 boys). As a diagnostic material we used the questionnaire "Ways to overcome negative situations" and the adaptation questionnaire of academic self-regulation R.M. Ryan and D.R. Connell. Mathematical and statistical methods were applied in data processing. Results. In a pilot study, it was found that the main ways of overcoming negative situations by subjects of educational and professional activities are self-accusations, problem analysis and self-esteem increase. Academic self-regulation is characterized mainly by external and introjective regulation. Conclusions. According to the results of the study of methods to overcome negative situations, it was found that students more often choose coping strategies of self-blame, problem analysis and search for guilty. During their educational and professional activities, students rely on the emotional sphere, which they direct towards themselves or others. At the same time, while analyzing the problem, students try to retire, seek information, find a solution. Academic self-regulation is characterized by external and introjected regulation. All data indicate that subjects of educational and professional activities are capable of self-organizing activities with the help of constructive coping strategies using the development of emotional intelligence for psychological well-being.

Background: Amidst the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) has emerged as an alternative for inpatient point-of-care blood glucose (POC-BG) monitoring. We performed a feasibility pilot study using CGM in critically ill patients with COVID-19 in the intensive care unit (ICU). Methods: Single-center, retrospective study of glucose monitoring in critically ill patients with COVID-19 on insulin therapy using Medtronic Guardian Connect and Dexcom G6 CGM systems. Primary outcomes were feasibility and accuracy for trending POC-BG. Secondary outcomes included reliability and nurse acceptance. Sensor glucose (SG) was used for trends between POC-BG with nursing guidance to reduce POC-BG frequency from one to two hours to four hours when the SG was in the target range. Mean absolute relative difference (MARD), Clarke error grids analysis (EGA), and Bland-Altman (B&A) plots were calculated for accuracy of paired SG and POC-BG measurements. Results: CGM devices were placed on 11 patients: Medtronic ( n = 6) and Dexcom G6 ( n = 5). Both systems were feasible and reliable with good nurse acceptance. To determine accuracy, 437 paired SG and POC-BG readings were analyzed. For Medtronic, the MARD was 13.1% with 100% of readings in zones A and B on Clarke EGA. For Dexcom, MARD was 11.1% with 98% of readings in zones A and B. B&A plots had a mean bias of −17.76 mg/dL (Medtronic) and −1.94 mg/dL (Dexcom), with wide 95% limits of agreement. Conclusions: During the COVID-19 pandemic, CGM is feasible in critically ill patients and has acceptable accuracy to identify trends and guide intermittent blood glucose monitoring with insulin therapy.

Background Obesity is an increasing global health problem, and current methods of management are limited. Preliminary research data suggest that acupuncture may have an influence on metabolic parameters related to obesity. Objective To determine the electroacupuncture (EA) protocol to be used in a future clinical trial examining the effect of acupuncture on metabolic parameters related to obesity and to examine whether a single EA treatment can change fasting blood glucose in obese subjects. Methods 16 obese women aged 30–52 years with body mass index >30 kg/m2 were assigned consecutively into three groups and their fasting blood glucose was measured before and after administering a single session, lasting 30 min, of one of three EA treatment protocols. The Dorsal group received EA to dorsal segmental acupuncture points BL18–23 bilaterally (corresponding to the segmental levels innervating the pancreas); the Ear group received EA to ear points in the cavum conchae; and the Limb group received EA to points in the arms and legs (LI10–LI11, ST36– Zongping). Results After a single session of EA there was a statistically significant decrease in fasting blood glucose in the Dorsal and Limb groups, but there was no change and even a trend towards an increase in the glucose level in the Ear group. Conclusions The findings of this small pilot study suggest that EA to either dorsal segmental points corresponding to the pancreas or to muscle points in all four limbs may exert a beneficial effect on glucose metabolism in obese women.
