SUMMARYDespite a number of risk-factor studies in different countries, the epidemiology ofCampylobactercolonization in broilers, particularly spatial dependencies, is still not well understood. A series of analyses (visualization and exploratory) were therefore conducted in order to obtain a better understanding of the spatial and temporal distribution ofCampylobacterin the Danish broiler population. In this study, we observed a non-random temporal occurrence ofCampylobacter, with high prevalence during summer and low during winter. Significant spatio-temporal clusters were identified in the same areas in the summer months from 2007 to 2009. Range of influence between broiler farms were estimated at distances of 9·6 km and 13·5 km in different years. Identification of areas and time with greater risk indicates variable presence of risk factors with space and time. Implementation of safety measures on farms within high-risk clusters during summer could have an impact in reducing prevalence.

This study evaluated the spatio-temporal distribution, population biology and diet of Menticirrhus americanus in Caraguatatuba Bay. Samples were taken monthly between August 2003 and October 2004, by trawling in two previously selected areas. The northern area is more exposed to wave activity and is influenced by a river, functioning as a small estuary. In contrast, the southern area is relatively sheltered from wave energy and influenced to a lesser degree by smaller rivers. The fishes' length was measured, and the sex and gonadal stage macroscopically identified. The abundance of this species was compared between areas and among months. The diet was identified and quantified. M. americanus occurred in equal proportions in the two study areas, being most abundant in April 2004, followed by December 2003 and January 2004. The population was dominated by small immature individuals. The few individuals in maturation or mature that were captured showed no seasonal pattern of distribution. This species had a varied diet, feeding on worms (nemerteans, sipunculans and echiurans), mollusks (bivalves and cephalopods), polychaetes, crustaceans and fish. The presence of intact nematodes in the intestine suggests that these are parasites. The results demonstrated that M. americanus has a homogeneous spatial and temporal distribution in Caraguatatuba Bay, being uniformly distributed between the south and north areas as well as across the months. This species can be considered a carnivorous predator, showing a preference for consuming benthic sandy-beach species such as glycerids and other polychaetes, crustaceans, and bivalve siphons.

Abstract BackgroundInner Mongolia has the highest incidence rate, causing great public health and economic losses. A number of policies to guide the prevention and control of human brucellosis had been issued and have made some achievements. Analysis of the distribution characteristics and changes of human brucellosis is important for the targeted prevention and control of this disease.MethodsWe collected various policies and measures related to brucellosis promulgated, and comprehensively analyzed the spatial and temporal distribution of human brucellosis in Inner Mongolia from 2005 to 2019 using the Bayesian theory of space-time modeling. ResultsWith the implementation of various policies and measures, great achievements have been made and distribution trends changed. Some western regions have changed into stable or cold-spot counties, and most cities in the eastern region have become hot-spot counties during the time period. The rising trend of risk in three cities is slowing down, while the risk in two cities is growing faster than the overall trend.ConclusionThe effective prevention and control measures are essential. The analysis results of this study may provide a theoretical and scientific basis for the public health department to develop targeted effective prevention and control measures for human brucellosis.

Abstract Background: Although the World Health Organization reports that the incidence of tuberculosis in China is decreasing year by year, the burden of tuberculosis in China is still very heavy. Understanding the spatial and temporal distribution pattern of tuberculosis in China and its influencing factors will provide effective reference for the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis.Methods: Data of TB incidence from 2005 to 2017 were collected. Time series and global spatial autocorrelation were used to analyze the temporal and spatial distribution pattern of tuberculosis incidence in China, and a new method Geodetector was used to analyze the geographic environmental factors affecting the TB incidence.Results: In addition to 2007 and 2008, the TB incidence decreased in general. TB has a strong spatial aggregation, and the western part of China is the high-value aggregation area of TB incidence. Socio-economic factors fail to pass the significance test. Meteorological factors and air pollution have also been proved to be related to the TB incidence. The interaction between these factors has produced mutually reinforcing effects.Conclusion: The spatial and temporal distribution pattern of tuberculosis in China and the factors affecting its geographical environment are studied in order to provide reference for the formulation of tuberculosis prevention and control policies and increase investment.
