A new species of Lumbrineridae, Augeneria profundicola sp. nov. is described based on one specimen taken from 950 m depth on muddy bottom off Gökçeada Island (northern Aegean Sea). This new species is characterized by having seven small nuchal antennae arranged in a circle line on the prostomium and bidentate maxilla II. The morphological features of this species were compared with those of all Augeneria species described so far. A taxonomic key to all Augeneria species is also provided.

Material of Pycnogonida was collected by scuba diving and snorkelling in the eastern Mediterranean Sea from the Aegean Sea to northern Cyprus in 1995–2002; some additional samples were taken in 2006 (mainly in Gencelli Cove, Turkey). This yielded the first record of Ammothella appendiculata for the region. A. longioculata and Callipallene spectrum are newly recorded for Turkey. A hitherto undescribed and tiny species of Anoplodactylus was found. The insufficiently known adult stage of Ammothella uniunguiculata is figured by SEM photograph.

A systematic survey of the sponge fauna of the Aegean Sea has been carried out. Twenty-eight stations located in the Aegean Sea were explored and 59 species of Demospongiae were collected from this particular area, which covers a broader geographical area of the Aegean and Cretan Seas. Some of the species found are poorly known for the Mediterranean fauna, like Cerbaris curvispiculifera and Spongosorites flavens, which are reported for the first time in the Aegean Sea and generally in the eastern Mediterranean. The species Axinyssa michaelis sp. nov. (Halichondriidae: Halichondrida) is new to science. In this paper, a description of the new species is presented along with the description of the first recorded species in the Aegean Sea. In addition to the taxonomic description of the species, some ecological data and a distribution pattern are also presented.

Nebalia kocatasi sp. nov. (Crustacea: Leptostraca) is described from specimens collected off the coast of Turkey (Aegean Sea). The new species differs from the other known species of the genus in having a rostrum about 2.4 times as long as wide, the antennular scale is twice as long as wide, the third article of the antennule has up to four short distal spines, the third article of the antenna has three robust spines on the external lateral face, the two distalmost being the longest, the endopod of the second maxila is composed of two sub-equal articles, the exopod of the second maxilla is as long as the first article of the endopod, pleonites 6–7 have pointed denticles along the posterior dorsal borders, the protopod of pleopod 4 has 2–3 serrations along the posterior border and the terminal seta of the caudal furca is about twice the length of rami. This is the second leptostracan species reported to date from the eastern Mediterranean.

The faunal analysis of hard bottom materials collected from Alsancak Harbour and its vicinity (Izmir Bay, Aegean Sea) revealed a new syllid species, Syllis ergeni. The species is mainly characterized by having a dark-brown colour pattern on the dorsum of anterior and middle segments, short blade falcigers, the number and morphology of aciculae, and a pigmented proventriculus and pharynx. The morphology, ecology, distribution and reproductive features of the species are explained and discussed.

Abstract A new species of micromorphic articulate brachiopod (Rhynchonellida) Lambdarina jugowiensis sp. nov., from the upper Visean (Sokolec Beds) of central Sudetes, SW Poland, is described. The studied specimens are calcified, what makes them unique in respect of their state of preservation. The material is represented by a full range of growth stages; from brephic to gerontic. Based on its morphological features and the palaeogeographical distribution of all its known species, two main evolutionary lines are proposed for the genus; the Australian and the European ones. Lambdarina was widely distributed in the equatorial-tropical waters of marginal seas of the Palaeotethys Ocean, mostly during Mississippian time.

Leptochelia Vatulelensis(Crustacea: Tanaidacea), A New Species From Anchialine Caves of the South-Western PacificLeptochelia vatulelensisn. sp., discovered on the small islands of Vatulele (Fijian group) and Ouvéa (Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia), is described and illustrated. The new species is distinguished from the others of the"Leptochelia-dubiagroup" (to which it is generally similar) by the following combination of morphological characteristics: (1) the presence of three to four distal setae on the maxilliped basis; (2) merus of pereopods III and IV with only a distosternal seta; (3) endopod of the uropods formed of four (rarely three) articles; (4) males with two (sometimes three) relatively short aesthetascs on the first five articles of the antennular flagellum; (5) male cheliped with a diminished dimorphism; (6) males with a vertical comb-row of setae on the cheliped propodus. Although it inhabits inland, anchialine caves, the new species lacks morphological features that are characteristic of some cave species.

Seven species of freshwater crabs from three families are recorded from and around the Danum Valley Conservation Area in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo: Thelphusulacapillodigitus sp. n., Thelphusuladicerophilus Ng & Stuebing, 1990, Arachnothelphusaterrapes Ng, 1991, Terrathelphusasecula Ng & Tan, 2015, Parathelphusavalida Ng & Goh, 1987 (new record) (Gecarcinucidae); Isolapotamoningeri Ng & Tan, 1998 (Potamidae); and Geosesarmadanumense Ng, 2002 (Sesarmidae). The new species of Thelphusula Bott, 1979, can be distinguished from all congeners by a unique combination of morphological features, most notably the presence of dense patches of short setae on the fingers of the adult male chelipeds, as well as the structure of the male first gonopod. Arachnothelphusaterrapes is confirmed to be a phytotelm species. A key to all species in the conservation area is provided.

Tychus meggiolaroi sp. n. from Lebanon is described and illustrated. It belongs to the Tychus cilicicus species group (Sabella & Kurbatov 2002) and can be readily distinguished from related taxa by the different structure of the aedeagus and morphological features of antennae.

Specimens of Andreaea sect. Andreaea collected in Lesotho show morphological differences from the remaining Sub-Saharan Africa species in the group. Particularly, Lesotho specimens have much larger spores, a character diagnostic in the genus. Spore size also separates the Lesotho specimens from typical A. rupestris from the Northern Hemisphere. Consequently, we describe a new species from the highlands of Lesotho (Andreaea barbarae). Additionally, we present a taxonomic key to all accepted species of Andreaea sect. Andreaea in sub-Saharan Africa.
