Dental and oral disease are still become health problem in Indonesia. Dental and oral diseases greatly affect the degree of health, growth process and even the future of children. Data about dental diseases on Indonesian children, indicates that condition is already at worried stage. Research of effective health education about dental hygiene to toddler children needed. This study aim is to determine the influence of DHE against knowledge of dental hygiene on Grade V students in SDN Padangdangan 1. The method of this study was quasi experiment, use Pretest- Postest Control design. This study was conducted in SDN Padandangan 1 with total population was all of Grade V students in SDN Padandangan 1. The sampling technique in this study was total sampling with number of respondents was 32 divided by two groups, there were control group and implementation group. The data collected by using questionnaires. The result of this study shows that before DHE applicated to implementation group, students have less knowledge, that was 9 students (56,2%) and after DHE applicated, value of students’ knowledge was increase, that was 16 students (50,0%). The result of Willcoxon Sign Rank Test detired P = 0,005 (p<α), administering DHE through good and correct teeth rushing demonstration to Grade V students can increase the value of students’ knowledge. Dental health education is the right way to brush your teeth by using an interesting tool, such as phantom mannequin that can make attention from educator. Direct practice echnique is also involves many senses so the material from educator was more touches long erm memory.

In 2018, Aotearoa/New Zealand increased its annual refugee quota to 1000. When refugees arrive in Aotearoa/New Zealand they spend six weeks in a resettlement programme. During this time, children attend an introduction to schooling. First language (L1) literacy support for children experiencing education in a medium that is not their Home Language has been identified as essential for children’s educational success. This knowledge is reflected in Principle 4 of the International Literacy Association’s Children’s Rights to Read campaign, which states that “children have the right to read texts that mirror their experiences and languages...”. In 2018, the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY)-Yamada Foundation granted funding to IBBY in Aotearoa/New Zealand (IBBYNZ)/Storylines to supply books in the Home Languages of the refugee children in the introduction to school programme. Over 350 books were sourced in a range of languages including Farsi, Arabic, Tamil, Punjabi, Burmese, Karen, Chin, and Spanish. In this article, the sourcing of these books and their introduction to children in a refugee resettlement programme is described. Interviews with five teachers in the resettlement programme concerning the use of the books and how children and their families have been responding are reported. Future programme developments are outlined.

Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic condition which produces severe pain involving a part of the face. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of trigeminal neuralgia among dental patients visiting a dental institution. This retrospective study included patients who were diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia from July 2019 to March 2020 in a dental hospital. The digital case records of all patients were retrieved and details were recorded, which included the clinical, radiographic examination and treatment undergone by the patients. Variables such as age, gender, site of involvement were also retrieved from the case records. Data were tabulated and statistically analysed using IBM SPSS version 23.0 and results obtained. P value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. In the present study, out of 28 patients, males (53.6%) were more affected by trigeminal neuralgia than females (46.4%) with a higher prevalence on the right side (57.1%). Quadrant I (25%) and combination of quadrant II and quadrant III (25%) were most commonly involved by this condition. No statistically significant association was found between age and quadrant affected; gender and quadrant affected. (p>0.05). It can be concluded from our study that males were more affected with trigeminal neuralgia, the majority involving the right side of the face and seen commonly among the elderly age group. Dentists must be aware of the clinical features of trigeminal neuralgia for accurate diagnosis and early initiation of prompt treatment to avoid untoward complications.

Background. Eyes are an important component of the face and vital organs of vision. Eye loss can be caused by congenital defects, trauma, or tumor. Loss of an eye produces physical abnormalities that pose a psychological burden on the patient, as well as visual function damage. An ocular prosthesis is an artificial maxillofacial prosthesis to replace the lost eye. Case summary. A 54-year-old man consults at the Prosthodontics Specialist Universitas Airlangga Dental Hospital for an eye prosthesis. The patient did not have the right eyeball since birth. Soft tissue around the eye is normal, including the palpebral muscles. Case management. An impression was made using a custom tray and alginate in the defect area, followed by filling the impression with gypsum type 3 to get a working model, from which a wax model is made and adjusted to the patient. After that, sclera and ocular acrylic prostheses are made on the basis of an adjusted wax model. The prosthesis is then polished and colored according to the contralateral eye. Then the prosthesis is delivered to the patient. Conclusion. The hollow custom-made eye prosthesis can be considered in the treatment of anophthalmia. It is able to improve the patient's psychological and emotional status.

BACKGROUND Idiopathic condylar resorption (ICR) is a progressive, extensive loss of condylar resorption with or without temporomandibular joint (TMJ) symptoms. Orthodontic treatment causes abnormal joint loading, thus sustained physical stress to the articular surface of TMJ when exceeds adaptive capacity leads to dysfunctional remodelling of the mandible. Condylar changes were not assessed both during pre and post orthodontic treatment. The purpose of this study was to assess the condylar changes following orthodontic treatment using orthopantomogram (OPG). METHODS This retrospective study was conducted in a university dental hospital setting covering patients visiting for orthodontic treatment from October 2020 to February 2021. Analysis of pre-operative and post-operative OPG’s of patients who have undergone orthodontic treatment was done. Morphologic changes of condyle were recorded using idiopathic condylar resorption subgroups classification. The statistical software used for analysis was IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 23) and a paired t test was used to assess the pre-operative and postoperative condylar changes. RESULTS 50 condyles of 25 patients (right and left side) ranging from 11 - 40 years of age were evaluated pre and post orthodontic treatment. Female predilection (60 %) with phenotype 1 (44 % - right; 44 % - left) being more common and left condyle most commonly affected. The mean and S.D. of the right side were - 680 and 0.748 respectively (P value 0.000) and left side values were - 800 and 1.118 respectively which was also statistically significant (P value 0.002). CONCLUSIONS ICR is the result of many predisposing and contributory factors and an accurate and timely diagnosis of this pathology is essential in dental practice. The available literature confirms the presence of condylar changes after orthodontic therapy, however more evidence-based high-quality clinical trials with detailed design and long-term follow-up periods need to be conducted yet in order to gain more insight and knowledge on the onset and progression of this pathology.
