The aim of this clinical report is to present the replacement of unsatisfactory metal-ceramic crowns of elements 12, 11, 21 and 22, by lithium disilicate glass-reinforced ceramic crowns in a patient with skeletal anterior open bite. A patient sought care at the Dental Hospital at the School of Dentistry of UFU, complaining of odor between the metal-ceramic crowns of the antero-superior teeth. After clinical and radiographic examination, invasion of the biological space was noticed, surgery was indicated in order to restore the biological space. After healing, the pre-existing cast metal posts were masked using an opaque composite resin and the teeth were reprepared for full all-ceramic crowns. Impressions were taken in two steps, using PVS associated to retraction cords. The ceramic copings were obtained in lithium disilicate ceramic, and the veneering was performed by stratification. After testing the ceramics crowns in relation to, fit, function and aesthetic results, cementation was completed using modified absolute isolation, followed by prophylaxis of preparations with pumice and saline, surface treatment of the ceramic restorations and luting using self-adhesive resin cement. Finally, an occlusal splint was produced to control the effects of bruxism and orofacial pain symptoms. The anterior open skeletal bite was a challenging factor for the rehabilitation of this patient; however, one must consider the entire process that the patient would undergo if choosing for orthognathic surgery, and the patient should be aware of the case limitations. In addition, the use of lithium disilicate glass-reinforced ceramics proved the versatility of this material for anterior aesthetic restorations.

Supernumerary teeth and odontomas are obstacles for spontaneous tooth eruption and may result in impaction. The aim of the study is to present a conservative treatment approach for impacted teeth following surgical obstruction removal by reviewing three treatment modalities: surgery only, which involves the surgical removal of the obstruction and the spontaneous eruption; surgery with immediate traction, which includes surgery combined with immediate active orthodontic brace cementation and traction; and surgery with delayed traction, which combines a surgical procedure of obstacle removal and orthodontic brace cementation with follow-up for the spontaneous eruption. The first two modalities require orthodontic traction either by an additional surgical procedure for orthodontic brace cementation, or combined with the surgical obstacle removal. With the third approach, clinical follow-up is performed via connected ligature wire elongation applied during the surgical procedure for the spontaneous emergence of the impacted tooth. Active orthodontic traction is only employed if the tooth fails to erupt. The visual follow-up via wire elongation serves as a reference during the emergence of the impacted teeth and reduces the need for radiographic examination. The surgical-orthodontic approach saves both further surgery and orthodontics (spontaneous eruption) or further surgery (in failure to erupt).

Abstract Background Ankylosing spondylitis is a progressive, disabling joint disease that affects millions worldwide. Given its unclear etiology, studies of ankylosing spondylitis relied heavily on drug-induced or transgenic rodent models which retain only partial clinical features. There is obviously a lack of a useful disease model to conduct comprehensive mechanistic studies. Methods We followed a group of cynomolgus monkeys having joint lesions reported of spinal stiffness for 2 years by conducting hematological testing, radiographic examination, family aggregation analysis, pathological analysis, and genetic testing. Results The results confirmed that these diseased animals suffered from spontaneous ankylosing spondylitis with clinical features recapitulating human ankylosing spondylitis disease progression, manifested by pathological changes and biochemical indicators similar to that of ankylosing spondylitis patients. Conclusion The study offers a promising non-human primate model for spontaneous ankylosing spondylitis which may serve as an excellent substitute for its pre-clinical research.

ABSTRAKPendahuluan: Penatalaksanaan kasus penyakit pulpa yang disertai dengan lesi periapikal dapat dilakukan dengan perawatan saluran akar tanpa intervensi bedah. Preparasi biomekanis pada perawatan endodontik non-bedah dapat mengeliminasi bakteri dari saluran akar dan mencegah terjadinya infeksi berulang setelah dilakukannya obturasi. Kompleksitas anatomi menyebabkan keterbatasan preparasi biomekanis saluran akar, sehingga perawatan dapat mengalami kegagalan. Variasi anatomi saluran akar pada gigi molar pertama rahang atas umumnya terdapat pada bagian palatal akar mesiobukal yang disebut sebagai saluran akar mesiobukal kedua dengan insidensi 94%. Saluran akar mesiobukal kedua berukuran lebih sempit dan dangkal dibandingkan saluran akar mesiobukal pertama, sehingga dibutuhkan beberapa metode untuk menentukan lokasi orifis tersebut. Tujuan laporan kasus ini adalah membahas mengenai penatalaksanaan non-bedah gigi pasca perawatan endodontik parsial yang disertai dengan lesi periapikal. Laporan kasus: Pasien perempuan berusia 28 tahun datang dengan keluhan gigi belakang kiri atas sakit berdenyut sejak 1 bulan, gigi tersebut pernah dirawat saluran akarnya beberapa tahun sebelumnya. Pemeriksaan klinis menunjukkan terdapat tambalan permanen pada gigi 26. Pemeriksaan radiografis menunjukkan adanya gambaran radiopak pada email mesio-oklusal hingga mencapai dasar kamar pulpa, pelebaran ligamen periodontal, terputusnya lamina dura, serta lesi periapikal pada akar mesial dan palatal. Preparasi akses dilakukan pada gigi 26, dilanjutkan dengan penentuan lokasi orifis mesiobukal kedua. Empat saluran akar dipreparasi menggunakan instrumen rotary nickel titanium dengan teknik crown down dan dilakukan obturasi teknik kondensasi lateral. Restorasi definitif berupa mahkota penuh porselen. Simpulan: Lesi periapikal sembuh setelah dilakukan preparasi pada saluran akar mesiobukal kedua sehingga pengetahuan mengenai anatomi dan variasi internal saluran akar gigi sangat penting dalam keberhasilan perawatan endodontik non-bedah.Kata kunci: Perawatan endodontik non-bedah; previously initiated therapy; lesi periapical; mesiobukal kedua  ABSTRACTIntroduction: The management of pulp disease cases accompanied by periapical lesions can be done by root canal treatment without surgical intervention. Biomechanical preparations for non-surgical endodontic treatment can eliminate bacteria from the root canal and prevent re-infection after obturation. However, the complexity of the anatomy limits the biomechanical preparation of the root canal so that treatment can fail. Anatomical variations of the root canal in the maxillary first molars are generally found in the palatal part of the mesiobuccal root, which is the second mesiobuccal root canal with an incidence of 94%. The second mesiobuccal root canal is narrower and shallower than the first mesiobuccal root canal, so several methods are needed to determine the location of the orifice. The purpose of this case report was to discuss the non-surgical management of teeth after partial endodontic treatment accompanied by periapical lesions. Case report: A 28-year-old female patient complained of throbbing pain in the left upper back tooth for one month. The tooth had had its root canal treated several years before. Clinical examination revealed permanent fillings on tooth 26. Radiographic examination showed the radiopaque appearance of mesio-occlusal enamel to the floor of the pulp chamber, widening of the periodontal ligament, rupture of the lamina dura, and periapical lesions of the mesial and palatal roots. Access preparation was performed on tooth 26, followed by the determination of the location of the second mesiobuccal orifice. Four root canals were prepared using a rotary nickel titanium instrument with a crown down technique and obturation with lateral condensation technique. The definitive restoration is a full porcelain crown. Conclusions: Periapical lesions healed after preparation of the second mesiobuccal root canal. This result proves that knowledge of the anatomy and internal variations of the root canal is fundamental in the success of non-surgical endodontic treatment.Keywords: Non-surgical endodontic treatment; previously initiated therapy; periapical lesions; second mesiobuccal canal

Introduction: Pulpectomy is the procedure of taking the entire pulp tissue from all the roots and corona of a tooth. There are several materials for obturation / root canal fillers in deciduous teeth, namely zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE), calcium hydroxide and iodoform paste a mixture of calcium hydroxide. A 6 year old boy patient came to RSGM with his parents seeking for treatment a tooth with a large cavity in the upper left posterior region and had been pain before. Intraoral examination revealed deep caries in the occlusal tooth 65 which reaching the pulp, percussion (-), palpation (-), mobility (-), vitality (-). Radiographic examination of tooth 65 showed a radiolucent image that had reached the pulp and the root canals had not yet undergone resorption. The diagnosis of this case was pulp necrosis at tooth 65. Case management: The treatment plan to be carried out was non-vital pulpectomy on tooth 65 and used technique non-vital pulpectomy because the tooth had already necrosis. Discussion: The filler used is ZOE. The reason for choosing this material was because it was indications for the use of ZOE material for teeth with necrosis. Conclussion: ZOE has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties that can reduce pain

Gastrointestinal obstruction is a life-threatening condition that is usually caused by accidental ingestion of inedible objects, through play or food indiscretions. Ingested foreign objects generate the mechanical obstruction of the gastrointestinal segment, characterized by a relatively typical set of symptoms, depending on the location. The aim of this study was the clinical and imaging description of some cases of gastrointestinal obstruction in dogs and cats, caused by swallowing textile foreign bodies. The study included 12 dogs and 8 cats of different breeds and ages, belonging to both sexes, which showed clinical signs suggestive from a clinical-anamnestic point of view for gastrointestinal obstruction. These patients had symptoms with acute or chronic progressive evolution of the gastrointestinal tract, including restlessness, deviation, vomiting (single or repeated episodes), abdominal tenderness, constipation and tenesmus. The diagnosis was confirmed by radiographic examination, simple and with contrast medium, and ultrasound, completed in some situations with laparotomy. Ingested textile foreign bodies were represented by socks/stockings (5 dogs and 3 cats), underwear (3 dogs), rope (1 dog and 3 cats), carpet fragments (2 dog and 1 cat), toy fragments (1 dog and 1 cat), and they were located in the stomach (7/12; 58.33%, respectively 4/8; 50%), in the gastro-duodenal segment (2/12; 16.67%, respectively 3/8; 37.5%), in the jejunum (3/12; 25%, respectively 1/8; 12.5%) and in the colon (1/12; 8.33%, respectively 1/8; 12.5%). Gastrointestinal obstruction in pets, caused by accidental ingestion of textile foreign bodies, is a medical emergency and imaging examinations are the main diagnostic tool in the establishment of a subsequent therapy with maximum efficiency.

Odontoma is a benign calcifying odontogenic tumor of unknown etiology, although local trauma, genetic factors, and chronic inflammation may be related. They are classified into compound and complex types, depending on the morphological, radiographic and histological characteristics. Clinically they hardly show signs or symptoms, and, when present, are related to delayed tooth eruption, cortical bone expansion and tooth displacement. Although radiographic exams are complementary, most cases of odontomas reported in the literature are found on routine radiographs. The diagnostic hypothesis is confirmed by histopathological examination that shows evidence of the presence of enamel, dentin, cementum and pulp tissue arranged in the form of denticles (compound) or a disorganized mass (complex). The treatment consists of surgical excision of the lesion. The aim of this article was to report a clinical case and histopathological analysis of a complex odontoma associated with an unerupted tooth, located on the left side in the posterior region of the maxilla, discovered by routine radiographic examination of a 57-year-old male patient. The treatment was surgical excision of the lesion, removal of the unerupted tooth and histopathological examination, which confirmed the diagnosis of complex odontoma. The case was followed-up clinically and radiographically for one year and showed no recurrence.

Desmoplastic Ameloblastoma accounts for 4% to 13% of all ameloblastomas and is a rare variant with high rate of recurrence. The desmoplastic variant of ameloblastoma usually appears in the anterior and premolar regions and sometimes resembles a benign fibro-osseous lesion showing a mixed radiolucent and radiopacity in the radiographic examination. Malignant transformation with repeated postsurgical recurrences have also been reported. In this paper we present a case of a 22-year-old female with swelling in the left upper jaw which turned out to be desmoplastic ameloblastoma. The pathologist and the clinician should be aware of the concepts and the association with malignant transformation and spread of the lesion in order to deliver appropriate treatment and to avoid further recurrences of the leison.

A 15‐year‐old male presented to the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics immediately after a facial injury having complain of persistent pain in the teeth and the front upper lips. Upon examination it was revealed trauma of the upper incisors, also injury to the marginal gingiva of the front teeth. Further inspections showed slight laceration of the oral mucosa in the lower labial sulcus. Radiographic examination revealed fracture of crown of maxillary central incisor. The treatment plan which was decided comprised of complete removal of fractured crown followed by root canal therapy and immediate post placement and reattachment of the crown.
