Online gatekeeping is a psychological consultation service in which e-mails are sent to Internet users who are at risk of suicide. This research aimed to clarify the relation between the continuation rate of the service and the speed of response to the user’s first-contact e-mails. We analyzed 290 initial e-mails that arrived at [author’s institution], the study’s specified nonprofit corporation. The reply speed for e-mails arriving during the day was related to consultation continuation: responses sent within and more than 12 hours produced continuation rates of approximately 70% and 44%, respectively. Hence, systems that enable consultants to respond to first-contact e-mails within 12 hours are important for consultation to commence.

To date, little guidance exists on how to design safe and effective online programming on sensitive and/or controversial topics. Massive online open courses (MOOCs) represent a unique opportunity for delivering inclusive and accessible teaching to international learner audiences. This paper provides an insight into designing and delivering the first internationally accessible MOOC on suicide prevention in the global context in 2019-highlighting insights into best practice as well as pertinent challenges. The results from two runs of this MOOC indicate that there appears to be a global demand for education on suicide prevention. Our practice suggests that new knowledge on extremely sensitive topics such as suicide can be safely and effectively delivered through a MOOC to an international community of learners. Learner safety needs to be carefully considered when developing and delivering online learning. Thorough and careful moderation is essential to ensure that learners engage safely and sensitively with the content and with one another. The involvement of diverse stakeholders, including people with lived experience, in the MOOC design is recommended to enhance the authenticity, inclusiveness and rigour of the curriculum.

This article on suicide prevention and prevention is a case study involving relatives of people who died by suicide. This study aimed to evaluate suicide prevention and prevention strategies. A qualitative approach combined with an interview content analysis applied to 2 people (+18 years old) was used. The interviews were conducted at the participants' homes after being contacted and a free and informed consent form was presented. The results of this research lead us to conclude that after the death of a relative by suicide there are many marks between indignations, couplings, anguish and suffering for the disappearance of the loved one. We also realized that, due to lack of financial conditions, the problems related to grief are managed among family members through a circle of conversations and self-help, which can lead survivors to experience experiences of pain and grief for a long time. To this end, it is suggested to promote psychological care services for bereaved relatives to prevent cases of complicated grief and contagious suicide. To this end, health centers must create cooperation links with legal entities tracking cases of death by suicide for proper follow-up.
