<p><em>A non-destructive test method is the main method to examine most of the materials, composite materials in particular. There are too many </em><em>Non-Destructive Test (</em><em>NDT) methods to inspect the materials such as, Visual Inspection, Liquid Penetrate Inspection, Eddy-Current Inspection, Phased Array Inspection, Magnetic Particle Inspection and Ultrasonic Inspection</em><em>.</em></p><p><em>This paper aims to creat a unified methodology for engineers depending on reaserch onion to study the inspection of the composite materials.</em></p><p><em>The researchers concluded that NDT method is the most suitable method for testing any materials and the composite materials. They also recommended to choose the most suitable NDT method as every materials and composite materials have its own properties as well as the inspection methods had its own capabilities and limitations. </em></p>

In order to maintain the existing concrete structures in a safe and usable state, an overall maintenance management is necessary regarding structure aging from quality management of new construction. Thus, non-destructive testing is needed to estimate the structure damage, defect, or proper construction without damaging the structure. In U.S., there is a standard for non-destructive test (ACI 228.2R-98), and also in Japan, the non-destructive test method and compressive strength estimation manual was prepared by the Architectural Institute of Japan in 1983, and there are active researches in the ground field, but it lacks verification in architecture field. Thus, in this study, a technique that can estimate the depth of concrete column member using the Impact Echo method which is one of the non-destructive test methods shall be reviewed and evaluated for applicability to the architecture field. The specimen was mixed with design strength of 30MPa. The equipment used in testing is Freedom Date Pc Platform Win.TFS 2.5.2 by company Olson of U.S., and the experiment involved leveling the top surface of the concrete member, installing the equipment and applying impact 9 times, and taking the average of the reverberation values obtained. The estimated average depth of concrete column member using Impact Echo method was 304mm for IEC-300, 398mm for IEC-400, and 484mm for IEC-500, and the relative error rate compared to the actual size was 1%~3%. Through this study, the applicability of estimation of depth in concrete column members using impact echo method could be confirmed.

Non-Destructive methods have greater advantage in assessing the homogeneity, compressive strength, corrosion of rebars in concrete etc. of damaged structures. The aim of the present study is to assess the existing building, which is 41 year old, in the Technical Institute of Amara affiliated with the Southern Technical University, Maysan, Iraq. The research focus on the assessment of the concrete strength and the inspection of the damages in the building. Besides the visual inspection, the ultrasonic pulse velocity and schmidt hammer were used as a non-destructive test method for testing of 30 columns and 15 beams for a building consisting of three floors. The concrete compressive strength was estimated by using SonReb method. The equations proposed by Gasparik, 1984, Di Leo & Pascale, 1994, Arioglu et al., 1996, Cristofaro et al. (EXP), 2020 and Cristofaro et al (PW), 2020 were used for assessment the compressive strength of oncrete. The non-destructive test results indicated that the average strength of the structural elements greater than the design compressive strength of the tested elements. Therefore, the building can be considered structurally is safe.
