This article describes Bacillus anthracis strains isolated in Kazakhstan since the 1950s until year 2016 from sixty-one independent events associated with anthrax in humans and animals. One hundred and fifty-four strains were first genotyped by Multiple Locus VNTR (variable number of tandem repeats) Analysis (MLVA) using 31 VNTR loci. Thirty-five MLVA31 genotypes were resolved, 28 belong to the A1/TEA group, five to A3/Sterne-Ames group, one to A4/Vollum and one to the B clade. This is the first report of the presence of the B-clade in Kazakhstan. The MLVA31 results and epidemiological data were combined to select a subset of seventy-nine representative strains for draft whole genome sequencing (WGS). Strains from Kazakhstan significantly enrich the known phylogeny of the Ames group polytomy, including the description of a new branch closest to the Texas, United States A.Br.Ames sublineage stricto sensu. Three among the seven currently defined branches in the TEA polytomy are present in Kazakhstan, “Tsiankovskii”, “Heroin”, and “Sanitary Technical Institute (STI)”. In particular, strains from the STI lineage are largely predominant in Kazakhstan and introduce numerous deep branching STI sublineages, demonstrating a high geographic correspondence between “STI” and Kazakhstan, Central Asia. This observation is a strong indication that the TEA polytomy emerged after the last political unification of Asian steppes in the fourteenth century of the Common Era. The phylogenetic analysis of the Kazakhstan data and of currently available WGS data of worldwide origin strengthens our understanding of B. anthracis geographic expansions in the past seven centuries.

Teacher Professional Development (TPD) has received global recognition as one of the most essential elements required for increasing teachers’ knowledge and skills and improving students’ learning. However, not much account has been given on the influence or otherwise of TPD since some appears ineffective in supporting changes in teacher practices and student learning. This study examined the influence of teacher professional development on teaching and learning in public Technical Institutes in the Upper West Region, Ghana. The study adopted the concurrent mixed method design, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative datasets. The study was conducted between September 2019 to September 2020 in two technical institutes, namely, St. Basilide’s Technical Institute and the Wa Technical Institute in the Nadowli-Kaleo district and Wa Municipality respectively. The study sought to find out the type of TPD that teachers in public Technical Institutes in the Upper West Region participate in; evaluate the relationship between TPD and teaching and learning; as well as assess the challenges confronting teachers relative to access to professional development programmes. Evidence was obtained through the use of interview as well as questionnaires including both open and closed ended questions and a 5-point Likert scale. A sample size of 220 was obtained from a total target population of 1,072 at 95% confidence level and 5% margin of error. Results: The findings showed that teachers in public Technical Institutes have considerable access to teacher professional development provided by the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana National Association of Teachers, Non-Governmental Organizations, Subject Associations, among others. Like the teachers, majority of the students have a very positive account about how well their teachers teach and how well they themselves are learning. It was found that a highly significant positive relationship (r (44) =.745, p˂.01 given ɑ =.01 and p-value=.000) exists between teachers’ participation in teacher professional development and teaching and learning. Furthermore, the study also showed a Kendall’s Coefficient of Concordance (W) of 0.212 in the ranking of challenges or barriers affecting teacher professional development. The study contends that GES should put in place policies to encourage teachers to participate in professional development programs; the GES should also encourage and partly fund individual schools particularly technical institutes to conduct subject-based in-service training for teachers among others.

The relevance of the article is due to the need to select and systematize effective means in teaching the Russian language as a foreign language in a changing reality, or the global digitalization of the educational process. Based on this, the purpose of the article is to determine the specifics of creating electronic educational materials for the effective teaching of Russian as a foreign student to the military engineering and technical institute of the military academy of logistics (hereinafter - VITI VAMTO). The authors formulated a new approach to the organization of electronic materials or a linearly branched principle of training. It is most effective in training foreign cadets, as it synthesizes the features of the already classical principles of presenting electronic exercises in media space: linear and branched. The article discloses the essence of the new principle of learning, linearly branched, for all types of speech activities, which consists in: that any topic is accompanied both by questions of a controlling nature and questions of a test nature, on the basis of which further digital training of foreign cadets is predicted, as well as the most effective methods and techniques for their training in a concentric type of material supply are predicted. Existing electronic content is classified based on the organization of training information in them. Two main ones are highlighted and a third type is proposed, synthesizing the pros, existing electronic training exercises and overcoming the negative sides of them. It is proposed to direct efforts to develop exercises of a linearly branched structure for teaching the Russian language to foreign students in all types of speech activities. An experimentally ascertaining and control section of the knowledge of foreign cadets proved that the submission of electronic information according to a linearly branched principle is most effective for teaching Russian as a foreign, as it overcomes a number of negates moments when learning Russian in digital or remote format. It has been proved that digital education, built on the principle of linear-branched learning, is effective for training grammar and for increasing the communicative competence of foreign students when creating additional films not of a general speech theme, but of the professional orientation necessary for them to master the future profession. The article is intended for teachers of military universities, methodologists and specialists developing digital educational content.

Published results for standard wind tunnel models at non-standard test conditions are quite rare and/or may not be available. It has been found that those results are a useful aid in preparations for a number of wind tunnel tests in the Military Technical Institute (VTI) in Belgrade. Test campaigns of standard models at non-standard conditions are performed to serve as an internal database for future wind tunnel tests in such environments. Those tests, that partially overlap the referenced Mach number and/or angle of attack ranges, are conducted in different VTI’s test facilities; different model sizes and support stings were used. The standard models used in static measurements in VTI, ranging from simple missile shapes and re-entry bodies to complicated airplanes, are briefly described and sample non-standard test results are given. The correlation of the test results among models and facilities has been done with references in the available ranges, and, after confirming a good agreement, it is assumed that the results are also valid in the extended ranges of conditions. These results may be useful for researchers in other wind tunnel facilities and for those who handle CFD tools.
