Motivated by the importance of the oxidized silicon layers, we have studied the surface photovoltage (SPV) transients in nanoislands of GexSi1x on silicon and oxidized Si surfaces. It is shown that the SPV decays can be approximated by the stretched-exponential form, with the β values ranging from 0.3 to 0.6 for the islands grown on oxide-covered Si substrates and from 0.5 to 1 for the ones placed on bare Si. On this basis, a simple qualitative model is proposed that takes into account a donor-and acceptor-like interface states at the GeSi/SiO2 and Si/SiO2 interface, which act as recombination centers with densities dependent on the GeSi coverage. These results can be used to improve the functionality of photoelectric devices based on Ge/Si.

This paper reports the statistics of extreme values and positions of extreme events in Chinese stock markets. An extreme event is defined as the event exceeding a certain threshold of normalized logarithmic return. Extreme values follow a piecewise function or a power law distribution determined by the threshold due to a crossover. Extreme positions are studied by return intervals of extreme events, and it is found that return intervals yield a stretched exponential function. According to correlation analysis, extreme values and return intervals are weakly correlated and the correlation decreases with increasing threshold. No long-term cross-correlation exists by using the detrended cross-correlation analysis (DCCA) method. We successfully introduce a modification specific to the correlation and derive the joint cumulative distribution of extreme values and return intervals at 95% confidence level.

This paper considers the fuzzy viscoelastic model with a nonlinear source u t t + L u + ∫ 0 t g t − ζ Δ u ζ d ζ − u γ u − η Δ u t = 0 in a bounded field Ω. Under weak assumptions of the function g t , with the aid of Mathematica software, the computational technique is used to construct the auxiliary functionals and precise priori estimates. As time goes to infinity, we prove that the solution is global and energy decays to zero in two different ways: the exponential form and the polynomial form.

To describe the data on hadron production at high energies in the midarapidity region and not large transverse momenta [Formula: see text], we modify the simple exponential form of the [Formula: see text]-spectrum. The hadron [Formula: see text]-spectrum is presented in two parts due to the contributions of quarks and gluons, each of them has different energy dependence. The suggested approach alows us to describe rather satisfactorily the inclusive spectra of hadrons produced in [Formula: see text] collisions at energies from the AGS up to LHC.
