The article addresses the issue of lectotype designation of Melilotus tauricus (Fabaceae) and the authorship of this binomial. The species was described by F. Marschall von Bieberstein in 1819 as Trifolium, but no type was cited. The lectotype of Melilotus tauricus has not yet been designated. It is chosen here from among the original material stored in the Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute, RAS (LE). It is also revealed that the priority of the combination belongs to C. Ledebour (1823) – M. tauricus (M. Bieb.) Ledeb. – instead of N. Seringe (1825) as it was previously believed.

Lectotypes of twelve names of Fungi published by Christian Gottfried Ehrenberg from Adelbert von Chamisso’s collection (Auricularia cornea, Agaricus copulatus, Boletus katui, B. sector, Hypochnus nigrocinctus, Hysterium gracile, H. orbiculare, Naemaspora tularostoma, Sphaeria eschscholtzii, S. fur, S. profuga, Triblidium arcticum) are designated. It was thought that fungal collection made by Chamisso during the voyage around the world on board the Russian brig «Rurik» (1815–1818) had been lost, but many of his samples of fungi were re-discovered in 2013 in the Mycological Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute (St. Petersburg, LE) including original material of ten Ehrenberg’s taxa. For Hypochnus rubrocinctus which was lectotypified earlier by Aptroot et al. (2009) the additional type material kept in the Lichenological Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute (LE) is cited. It is supposed that original collections of Campsotrichum unicolor and Thamnomyces chamissonis may be kept in Fries herbarium (UPS).

Based on the study of the original material and the protologues of 4 Dermatocarpon species described by Tomin, kept in the Herbarium of V. F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the NAS of Belarus (MSK) and the Herbarium of V. L. Komarov Botanical Institute of the RAS (LE), 2 lectotypes (D. ferganense, D. terrigenum), are designated, 5 isolectotypes are indicated. The herbaria have been revealed where 4 lectotypes, 6 isolectotyps, 10 syntypes are kept. The correct nomenclature quotes for two species, D. elisavetae and D. terrigenum, are given. The ranges of the species are characterized according to published data. Neocatapyrenium rhizinosum is reported for the first time for Turkmenistan.

Leonid Efimovich Rodin (1907-1990) was a graduate of Leningrad state University. To him, the future is known geobotanica, happened to a course in Botanical geography is still at the N. A. Bush. His teachers were also A. P. Shennikov and A. A. Korchagin, who subsequently headed related Department of geobotany and Botanical geography of Leningrad state University. This was the first school scientist. And since the beginning of the 30s of XX century and until the end of life L. E. was an employee of the Department of geobotany of the Komarov Botanical Institute (RAS), where long time worked together with E. M. Lavrenko, V. B. Sochava, B. A. Tikhomirov, V. D. Alexandrova and many other high-level professionals, first continuing to learn and gain experience, then defining the direction of development of geobotany in the Institute and the country as a whole.

The article contains information about 32 type specimens of the names of 14 species of the boraginaceous genera Arnebia (incl. Lithospermum cornutum Ledeb.), Lappula (= Echinospermum), Onosma, Rochelia, and Solenanthus, kept in Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute (LE), and 5 specimens kept in Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris, France (P). The type category is indicated, text of the original label and text of the protologue are cited for each specimen. Among the 37 specimens found in the collections, there are 14 lectotypes, 11 isolectotypes, 8 syntypes, 1 isosyntype and 3 authentic specimens. The lectotypes of the names of 6 taxa are designated: Arnebia guttata Bunge, Echinospermum cristatum Bunge, E. consanguineum Fisch. et C. A. Mey., Lithospermum cornutum Ledeb., Rochelia leiocarpa Ledeb., Solenanthus circinnatus Ledeb.

The paper provides new data on aphyllophoroid fungi of the State Nature Reserve “Kurgalsky” situated in the Kingisepp District of the Leningrad Region. They were collected on the Kader bog and its vicinity. The list includes 165 species annotated by data on their habitats, substrates and frequency, including 37 species new for the reserve. In total 5 species (Antrodia mellita, Chaetoporellus latitans, Junghuhnia collabens, Rigidoporus crocatus, Sidera lenis) protected in the Leningrad Region and 3 species (Phlebia subserialis, Pseudomerulius montanus, Xenasma pruinosum) new for the Leningrad Region were found in study part of reserve. The specimens of selected species are kept in the Mycological Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute RAS (LE).

New data on species diversity of agaricoid fungi of Oksky Biosphere Reserve are given. The checklist of 41 species with indication of their localities and herbarium numbers (of the Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute, LE) is provided. Three species (Conocybe gigasperma, Entoloma occultopigmentatum, E. scabiosum) are recorded for the first time in Russia.

Information on the Sphagnum mosses of the South Ossetia is generalized, the resulted list is presented. Nine species of Sphagnum are included in the list, whereabouts data and references to the publications are given, and the presence of a sample in the Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute RAS (LE) is noted. The species Sphagnum platyphyllum (Lindb. ex Braithw.) Warnst. rarely occurring in the Caucasus is reported in the South Ossetia for the first time. The species was found in the Caucasus, South Ossetia, at the side of the Ertso Lake (42°28ʹN, 43°45ʹE), 1720 m a. s. l., among sedge thickets at the margin of the overgrowing lake. The peculiarities of its occurrence and ecological conditions are considered. Its distribution in the Caucasus and in the world is discussed.

A new species, Lappula botschantzevii, is described from the desert zone of North-Western Africa. The new species belongs to the section Lappula and is close to the species L. patula, from which it differs in a smaller corolla, a scorpioid inflorescence (bilateral flowers) with loosely spaced flowers, a heteromorphic coenobium with two types of eremocarps: A) winged with glochids and a large number of spines along the edges of the disc of eremocarps and B) with a second short row of spines. The species is described based on samples from collections housed in three herbaria: Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute RAS, Sankt-Peterburg (LE, Russia) and Muséum National d ‘Histoire Naturelle, Paris (P, France), Université de Montpellier (MPU). It is named after the Russian botanist Viktor Petrovich Botschantzev, who spent many years studying the flora of Africa and who collected samples of the new species. The absence of holotypes required the typification of the names of the studied species Lappula patula, L. capensis and L. eckloniana.
