Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the development of institutional repositories (IR) in tertiary institution libraries in Nigeria. Design/methodology/approach The study adopted a survey research method. Online questionnaire and IR site investigation methods were used to collect data from 25 university libraries in Nigeria. Findings The study revealed that only 25 (14.7%) universities out of the 170 universities in Nigeria have successfully developed IRs and registered their presence in OpenDOAR. Other tertiary institutions such as Polytechnics and Colleges of Education investigated in Nigeria are yet to develop IRs. Contents such as theses and dissertations, conference proceedings and journal articles ranked highest being the most popular contents in the various IRs. The results showed that the development of IR saves space in the library, increases readership, increases access to local contents, minimizes damage to the original material, facilitates the dissemination of scholarly research and assists in globalization of Nigerian research findings. The IRs site investigation revealed that only few IRs have clearly defined access policy, content policy, submission policy and digital preservation policy. The study identified challenges such as inadequate facilities, unstable internet connectivity, lack of fund, irregular power supply, challenge of collecting materials for the IR, lack of skilled ICT personnel, copyright issues and absence of IR policies. Practical implications The results from the study will provide important data and insight into the development of institutional repositories in tertiary institution libraries in Nigeria, and generate suggestions for University Librarians, College Librarians, Polytechnic Librarians, tertiary institutions management and policy makers for developing institutional repositories in Nigeria and other developing countries. Originality/value The study investigated IR development in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The findings will inform other tertiary institutions in developing countries that the development of IR provides an opportunity for the visibility of local contents emanating from institutions and make them see the reason to embrace this laudable development.

Strongly regular graphs lie at the intersection of statistical design, group theory, finite geometry, information and coding theory, and extremal combinatorics. This monograph collects all the major known results together for the first time in book form, creating an invaluable text that researchers in algebraic combinatorics and related areas will refer to for years to come. The book covers the theory of strongly regular graphs, polar graphs, rank 3 graphs associated to buildings and Fischer groups, cyclotomic graphs, two-weight codes and graphs related to combinatorial configurations such as Latin squares, quasi-symmetric designs and spherical designs. It gives the complete classification of rank 3 graphs, including some new constructions. More than 100 graphs are treated individually. Some unified and streamlined proofs are featured, along with original material including a new approach to the (affine) half spin graphs of rank 5 hyperbolic polar spaces.

In this study, the starch-based material β-cyclodextrin was used as the original material to substitute petrochemical product-polyoxyethylene (HPEG) to synthesize concrete admixture polycarboxylate superplasticizer (PCE). During the synthesis, β-cyclodextrin was first grafted on the PEO chain to prepare β-CD-HPEG by click reaction. Then β-CD-HPEG was used to substitute the macromonomer HPEG to synthesize β-CD-PCE. When the substitution amount HPEG was 3%, the synthesized β-CD-PCE showed better dispersion ability.

Numerous researchers have carried out studies on the mud volcano system in East Java. However, there have been no experiments on the mud volcano system's mechanism, including overpressure confirmed by direct subsurface data. Therefore, this study aims to directly evaluate the mud volcano system's mechanism using the Hele-Shaw (H-S) experiment with the subsurface data confirmation. The H-S experiment utilized four primary materials: quartz sand diameter below 250 µm and 320 µm to analogize the porous layer. Gypsum flour clay is the ductile layer, while mud from the Kuwu and Kesongo Mud Volcanoes is the original material from nature. Wax represents impermeable material. The sealing layer is made of wax, and oxygen represents the natural fluids of the rock formation. The overpressured zone is created by pumping oxygen into a layer of quartz sand covered by a wax as an impermeable layer. Pressure is measured digitally, and the process is continuously recorded to produce traceable data. Each material was experimented on individually to determine the critical phase characteristics, valve fault structure geometry, and validation with seismic interpretation. The results indicate that the critical phase of the mud volcano system is characterized by the dome structure at the surface, with high intensify of gas and oil seepage. Piercement structure geometry is shown by plumbing of fluidization zone, which becomes shallower than before. Furthermore, each material's piercement structure geometry shows a consistent pattern, with differences in the density of the fault and pressure structures. Thus, the H-S experiment's validation with seismic interpretation shows a similar geometry in pressure structures and valve faults as the mud volcano system's migration paths.

Introduction. The article aims at studying the terms for the traditional dwelling and its parts in the modern Kalmyk language and in the language of the Oirats of Mongolia in a comparative and comparative-historical modes. Analysis of lexical material of the old-written Mongolian, the Khalkha-Mongolian, and the Buryat languages helped identify common terms and common Mongolian basis; also, some features of the Oirat distribution area and specific characteristics of Kalmyk and Oirat of Mongolia were clarified. The lexical material reflects to a degree the historical realities of the ethnic groups in the period of the common Mongolian proto-language, and in a later period of the settlement of Mongolian clans and the formation of Mongolian languages. Materials and methods. The research database comprises the data of dictionaries of the languages under study, as well as field material collected from informants during expeditions to Oirat groups in Western Mongolia. The main research methods are descriptive, comparative, comparative-historical, and continuous sampling. Results. The analysis helped identify both common Mongolian and specific terms characteristic of Kalmyk and Oirat of Mongolia, reflecting the nomadic lifestyle of pastoralists. Conclusion. The authors argue that the commonality of the traditional dwelling vocabulary in the languages in question indicates their common origin, as well as great antiquity of the Oirat clans’ original material culture.

Poet Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935), Portugal's literary glory, is also known to have penned a not inconsiderable corpus of sociological and politological reflections. This essay collates all such original material and glosses it with a view to uncovering Pessoa's religious true colours, and by so doing, goes on to argue that it is no accident, poetics aside, that western cultural intelligentsia finds it expedient to promote the literary output of personages like Pessoa who, in one form or another, preach an ultra-conservative gospel. Though he is not typically recognised as a thinker of the Right at all, the article's thesis is that Pessoa not only cuts a “fascist” figure in the conventional (Leftist) tenor of the epithet, but that the category itself of Fascism ought to be torn off its historical (pro-Liberal) contextualisation and radically reformulated as the default entomological categorisation of modern forms of society, and turned thereby into the norm against which exceptions need be counted, not the other way around. In light of this paradigmatic shift, Pessoa's considerations on selfishness, patriotism, and social dynamics afford an ulterior revelation of the anti-compassionate agenda of a type of System, ours, so keen on promoting thinkers of his ilk.

CoCrMo alloys are known for their biocompatible properties, which, together with their favorable mechanical properties, mean they can be efficiently used in dentistry. With the development of selective laser melting for the fabrication of 3D printed objects, interest in the corrosion properties of this alloy has risen in the field of prosthodontics. In the study, CoCrMoW dental alloys were studied in artificial saliva at body temperature i.e. 37 °C. Different forms of CoCrMoW alloy were selected: a reference sample, i.e. original material as-received from the supplier, a casted sample acquired from an ordinary procedure in a dental laboratory, and two 3D printed samples made from CoCrMoW powder using the selective laser melting method (SLM). Electrochemical, spectroscopic and hardness measurements were conducted. It was shown that the reference and cast samples have similar microstructural and electrochemical properties, while the electrochemical properties of the 3D printed samples differ, most probably due to the effect of the higher micro porosity and chemical composition of the alloys.
