A tudás a vállalatok egyre fontosabb erőforrásává vált, ezért tudatos megoldásokkal kell törekedni a szervezeti tudásban rejlő lehetőségek hatékony kihasználására. A tudás kezelésére irányuló tevékenységeket mind technológiai-informatikai, mind HR-, mind pedig szervezeti megoldásokkal lehet támogatni. Jelen cikkben a vállalatok szervezeti megoldásait elemzi a szerző: rámutat a szervezeti struktúrák, a szervezeti kultúra, a vezetői megközelítések (leadership) szerepére, valamint a kommunikáció különböző formáinak lehetőségeire. ______ Knowledge management activities became important part of knowledge oriented organisations, like software development companies. These activities can be supported by technological and organisational solutions. This paper concentrates on the organisational support factors of knowledge management activities in the software development industries, and examines the role of organisational design, structures, processes, communication and management support, while highlights the challenges.

Purpose In the hyper-dynamic business world of today, innovation has become the lifeblood of organizations. Knowledge management (KM) is widely considered an essential antecedent of innovation. However, very little empirical research has specifically addressed how KM is nurtured as support for innovation from a behavioral point of view. This paper aims to operationalize the characteristics of a fitting context – in terms of top management support, organizational rewards and mutual trust – and to clarify the role of organizational context on knowledge management strategies (KMS) and ultimately on firm innovativeness. Design/methodology/approach By studying 98 surveys from 23 companies from Technology Fast 50 list, based on using the partial least squares method, the authors find that this organizational context has a significant impact on the formulation and implementation of KMS. Findings Organizational/behavioral context has significant effects on the formulation and implementation of KMS as well as firm innovativeness. The results also demonstrate that the tacit KMS has a crucial impact on firm innovativeness. Originality/value From a behavioral perspective, this study empirically examines the role of organizational context (top management support, organizational rewards and mutual trust), KMS and firm innovativeness in a holistic manner in Turkey, a developing country. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, no researcher has undergone those relationships in literature.

Software and systems engineering is distinct from other forms of engineering as it deals with an intangible product, where the progress in construction is not explicitly visible and team members often rely on the documentation of others to follow and review progress. Furthermore unlike traditional engineering disciplines, there is no single standardized unified process. The role of knowledge management in the software engineering literature is becoming more evident, as the software development activity is essentially a human knowledge intensive activity and is seen by many as a key factor. This paper discusses the role of software development knowledge management within software development process and specifically how software development knowledge is managed in software development in order to support software process improvement and the role of knowledge management in this. The authors present the results of a study of knowledge management process practices in very small software companies and discusses these under the major identified issues of: Communication; Learning and sharing; Documentation and Knowledge management process and commitment. The findings in this study give an insight towards knowledge management practices as they relate to software development process practices in very small companies and the important factors that must be considered to preserve knowledge and quality software.

This article adds to the discussion on knowledge management (KM) by focusing on the process of knowledge sharing as a vital part of KM. The article focuses on the relationship between knowledge, learning, communication, and participation in action, and the role of social interaction and technical media in the knowledge sharing process. We develop an initial theoretical framework of knowledge sharing on the basis of a literature study. Drawing on an empirical study of knowledge sharing in a software development company, we discuss what supports and what hinders knowledge sharing in software development. Finally, we use this knowledge to improve the theoretical framework.

The new globalized and demanding business environment of the 21st century has created a shift from traditional organizations to more loose and flexible business schemes shaped in the form of Virtual Enterprises. This transformation would never have been successful without the support of Information Technologies and particularly the Web. Internet, in the last decade, has become the universal medium of interactions between distributed entities. In this chapter, the issue of Knowledge Management support for Virtual Enterprises is discussed. Building upon the current state of the art, this chapter aims to identify the major knowledge requirements of VEs, in an effort to provide a roadmap towards a holistic Knowledge Management framework that will satisfy the excessive knowledge needs of Virtual Enterprises at the interorganizational level. In that context, the role of supporting Web and Semantic Web technologies for the enactment of KM in VEs is described in detail.

The software industry being highly knowledge-centric in terms of technology, process and people has been focusing on knowledge management strategically for the past two decades. Although the processes of knowledge creation and sharing are well researched, knowledge application is not well addressed. This study identifies project knowledge application and management support for knowledge application as the dimensions of knowledge application creating value to knowledge management in the software industry. Through a structural equation modelling approach, the relationships of management support for knowledge application, project knowledge application and effective knowledge management are tested. The findings show that the management support for knowledge application has an indirect effect—higher than a direct effect—on effective knowledge management through project knowledge application. The empirical study done on data collected from 540 software professionals of 170 National Association of Software and Services Companies-listed software companies proves the significance of knowledge application through management support and projects on effective knowledge management. But the role of management support is not as strong as project knowledge, and hence the organizations could enhance their culture of management support. The dimensions of knowledge application create value for people and process in software organizations by developing an environment of openness, collaboration and creativity, in addition to creating better response to changing environments which will help organizations to achieve the benefits of lean-agile software and system developments at scale.
