This paper aims to summarize possibilities how to create data models of high-speed railway turnouts. The turnouts designed for high-speed operation require specific geometric solution. As the UIC RailTopoModel is considered an international recommendation in the field of data modeling of railway infrastructure, this issue is assessed in terms of models based on its principles. Solving this problem can affect the future development of the Multipurpose Railway Infrastructure Model gradually emerging at the CTU Railway Laboratory in Prague using the RailTopoModel principles.Whereas the RailTopoModel itself does not define any specific types of entities, the railML® 3.1 specifications are also used for assessment purposes. Turnouts are viewed both in terms of topology and in terms of functional infrastructure. In the final sections, recommendations are given on how to deal with the problems found, e. g. in terms of implementation into the Multipurpose Railway Infrastructure Model.

Abstract Data modeling is proposed as a means to address the complexities of CAD/CAM databases. The distinctions between product data models and those in general databases are reviewed. A data model, called EDM, is presented that incorporates features that are defined to response to these differences. A review is given of data modeling analyses carried out thus far regarding database extensibility, including support for open-ended knowledge domains.

Electric switch machine locks the crossing rail in the working direction and checks the working status of the crossing. With the increase of train speed, the ZD(J)9 electric switch machine cant satisfy the equipment of high speed railway, This paper studied the optimization; in order to study the lock calculation of nose rail after conversion, a dynamic model is established to research the influence of working status of the crossing. It indicates that for the first traction point, the stress and deformation are mainly affected by scant displacement between nose rail and wing rail; for the second traction point, they are affected by the gap between nose rail and spacer; fastener lateral stiffness doesnt influence the stress status, but the lateral fastener stiffness should not be too small.

The arrival of a new operator on the Italian high-speed railway (HSR) market, its maintanance and its market share made Italian open access experience one of the most successful liberalization models in the HSR sector. Researchers noticed that since the entry of the new operator, expansion of Italian HSR market is mostly due to the presence of this new operator. The aim of this article is to establish whether there were some other characteristics of the Italian HSR market that may explain this success even if it may be in opposition with what theory commonly suggests about competition in HSR markets. This research tries to do a complementary analysis by making a comparison with another successful HSR market that is not already liberalized: the French HSR market. After retracing supply, demand and markets maturity of Rome–Milan and Paris–Marseille lines, results reveal that supply and demand evolutions in both markets were very similar, if not identical after the commissioning of HSR. It suggests that liberalization may not be the only explanation of the significant evolution of Italian HSR market but that the opening of new infrastructures may also lead to positive trends that remain until markets reach a high level of maturity. This maturity understood as the residual capacity of the network and partially determined by infrastructure improvement seems to be another variable that had influenced the success of NTV. Indeed, before liberalization, Italian HSR network was far from saturation that allowed new entrant to capture important market shares.

Train/turnout dynamic interaction is exacerbated by high speed of passenger train and heavy load of freight train, and wheel/rail relation is one of the key factors that determine the running characteristics of the train. Focusing on three types of wheel treads with different profiles (TB tapered tread, LM worn tread, LMA worn tread), longitudinal distribution of the contact geometric parameters along the switch rail and nose rail of 350km/h No.18 turnout are calculated, such as tread equivalent conicity, coefficient of contact angle difference, roll angle factor, gravitational stiffness of wheelset, gravitational angle stiffness of wheelset, etc. Results show that: (1) LMA worn tread produces the smallest irregularity; (2) wheel/rail vertical impact at the frog will become bigger; (3) Top profile of switch rail and nose rail should be designed according to the wheel tread type so as to mitigate the wheel/rail dynamic interaction and increase the safety and stability of a train.

In order to provide data support for engineering construction, this paper proposes to study the construction of information platform of settlement deformation observation data. In this paper, the information platform for observation data is established based on the settlement deformation data of Zhengzhou-Jinan high-speed railway. The results show that the settlement deformation observation platform in this paper can effectively integrate the data and ensure the accuracy of the data. This paper sets an example for the future research on the construction of information platform of high-speed railway settlement.
