Abstract The durability and reliability of slab track structures are essential for the long-term safety and stable operation of high-speed railways. In order to provide a solid theoretical basis and technical reference for the advancement of high-speed railway quality, this paper comprehensively discusses design theories of slab track structures, service performance evolution and maintenance technologies, and reviews the innovation happening in the industry. On top of that, the damage evolution, fatigue features and durability of slab tracks, which are highly relevant to serviceability, are summarized, and the future research trend of slab track service behaviours is pointed out. In addition, this paper summarizes the rules of establishing standards for damage maintenance, typical solutions for repairing damage and methods of evaluating the maintenance outcomes that combine field tests and numerical simulations. It also envisions a future direction where advanced testing technologies would assist the evaluation of maintenance effects.

AbstractAccording to the analysis from the number of tourists who went to Lanzhou during 2009–2019, the ARIMA model of the number of tourists to Lanzhou was established. The results show that the AR(3) model is used to predict the number of tourists who traveled to Lanzhou during 2009–2019. The average relative error between the predicted value and the actual value is 1.03%, which can be used to predict and analyze the number of tourists in Lanzhou in the future.

Nanjing-Hangzhou Railway Passenger Dedicated Line is a high-speed railway of the speed 350 km/h in coastal soft area without railway track ballast. The settlement of soft foundation is quite great and the strict control standards of the settlement after construction of the high-speed railway that the settlement observation in construction phase is very strict. Through the settlement observation data analysis of Nanjing-Hangzhou Railway Passenger Dedicated Line on-site, the author found that the preloading can rapidly accelerate the settlement of the soft soil subsidence, the settlement is quite great during the embankment construction and the later three months, there is a preloading critical height, the foundation generally does not rebound when load was removed, the settlement trends are consistent with the three-point analysis. These conclusions are certain referential significance for the settlement control of the coastal soft soil area of high-speed passenger dedicated .

Congestion in intercity corridors of metropolitan area has been increasing steadily. To alleviate congestion, many major investment projects, such as the high speed railway projects, were proposed by agency. To evaluate the adequacy and efficiency of these projects, the intercity travel behavior should be analyzed in metropolitan area. The paper constructed a Multiple Indicators and Multiple Causes (MIMIC) model according to an expanded theory of planned behavior (TPB) to study the travel behavior of choosing from the choice set of the traditional train, the high speed railway and the coach by demographic and psychological factors. Through empirical data collection and analysis, we found that demographic factors of travelers indeed positively engender the latent variables in MIMIC, and descriptive norm and habit had direct or indirect significant effect on travel behavior and intention. On the basis of the effect of psychological constructors of the expanded TPB on the intercity travel behavior and differentiation of traveler's demographic characteristics, the agency can make reasonable policies and proper information for the intercity transportation. The results will support the basic theory of optimizing the transportation system in metropolitan area. Implications for researchers and suggestions for future research are also addressed in this study.

The spatial conflicts in the construction of high-speed railways not only reduce project efficiency, but also lead to serious accidents. To address these key issues, this paper presents a dynamic simulation method for constructions processes based on a virtual geographic environment. This approach can facilitate the identification of conflicts in the construction scheme through accurately expressing and analysing the intricate spatio-temporal relations among railway facility components, construction equipment and the surrounding environment. First, a high-precision virtual geographic scene in which the construction process and methods can be visualized and modelled intuitively is established with terrain, imagery, and engineering 3D models. Then, the overall construction processes can be accurately simulated by a sequential display of the railway components and the behaviour of construction equipment. To simulate the behaviour of construction equipment, the linkage relations between each joint of construction machinery are accurately modelled and animation control parameters are extracted. Finally, a construction simulation of a high-speed railway bridge was performed, and the experimental results show that the proposed method can provide a scientific basis for the optimization of complex engineering construction schemes, safety hazard assessments, and related full life cycle tasks.

This paper aims to summarize possibilities how to create data models of high-speed railway turnouts. The turnouts designed for high-speed operation require specific geometric solution. As the UIC RailTopoModel is considered an international recommendation in the field of data modeling of railway infrastructure, this issue is assessed in terms of models based on its principles. Solving this problem can affect the future development of the Multipurpose Railway Infrastructure Model gradually emerging at the CTU Railway Laboratory in Prague using the RailTopoModel principles.Whereas the RailTopoModel itself does not define any specific types of entities, the railML® 3.1 specifications are also used for assessment purposes. Turnouts are viewed both in terms of topology and in terms of functional infrastructure. In the final sections, recommendations are given on how to deal with the problems found, e. g. in terms of implementation into the Multipurpose Railway Infrastructure Model.

The experience needed to carry out engineering and construction in diatomaceous earth areas is currently lacking. This project studies the new Hang Shaotai high-speed railway passing through a diatomaceous earth area in Shengzhou, Zhejiang Province, and analyzes the hydrological and mechanical properties of diatomaceous earth on the basis of a field survey and laboratory. Moreover, a new antidrainage subgrade structure was proposed to address the rainy local environment, and field excitation tests were performed to verify the antidrainage performance and stability of the new subgrade structure. Finally, the dynamic characteristics and deformation of the diatomaceous earth roadbed were examined. The hydrophysical properties of diatomaceous earth in the area are extremely poor, and the disintegration resistance index ranges from 3.1% to 9.0%. The antidrainage subgrade structure has good water resistance and stability under dynamic loading while submerged in water. After 700,000 loading cycles, the dynamic stress and vibration acceleration of the surface of the subgrade bed stabilized at approximately 6.37 kPa and 0.94 m/s2, respectively. When the number of excitations reached 2 million, the settlement of the diatomaceous earth foundation was 0.08 mm, and there was basically negligible postwork settlement of the diatomaceous earth foundation. These results provide new insights for engineering construction in diatomaceous earth areas.
