Abstract At the beginning of the paper, the fractional calculus is briefly presented. Then, the models of dielectric relaxation in supercapacitors are described. On the basis of the Cole-Cole model, a fractional-order model of supercapacitor impedance is formulated. The frequency characteristics of selected supercapacitors and their voltage response to a current step are assumed as a basis for the analysis of their dynamics. An example of the fractional dynamic model application was used for the critical assessment of the IEC standard recommendation on the conditions of supercapacitor capacitance measurements. The presented study shows some imperfections of the IEC standard recommendations, which probably result from the use of an inaccurate dynamics model. At the end of the paper, the authors propose a solution to this problem by changing the measurement conditions and introducing a concept of dynamic capacitance. The conclusions of the paper indicate that the models of fractional-order dynamics may be useful not only for the control purposes but also in other domains.

This study presents a novel fractional order grey model FGM ([Formula: see text],1) obtained by extending the grey model (GM (1,1)). For this, we generalize the whitenization first-order differential equation to fractional order by using the Caputo fractional derivative of order [Formula: see text]. A real-world case study, scrutinize the economic growth influence on environmental degradation in Turkey, is performed to evaluate the significance of the projected model FGM ([Formula: see text],1) in contrast to the current classical GM. We apply autoregressive distributed lags bounds testing co-integration approach to empirically examine the long-run and short-run relation among economic growth, agriculture, forestry and fishing (AFF), electricity utilization and CO2 emissions. Using the new fractional order model, all the variables are forecasted in the forthcoming years until 2030. Findings disclose that electricity utilization and economic growth (GDP) accelerate emission of CO2 though in the long run agriculture, forestry, and fishing reduce the environmental pollution in Turkey.

AbstractIn this paper we investigate the control of three-dimensional non-autonomous fractional-order uncertain model of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) via a adaptive control technique. We derive a dimensionless fractional order model of the PMSM from the integer order presented in the literatures. Various dynamic properties of the fractional order model like eigen values, Lyapunov exponents, bifurcation and bicoherence are investigated. The system chaotic behavior for various orders of fractional calculus are presented. An adaptive controller is derived to suppress the chaotic oscillations of the fractional order model. As the direct Lyapunov stability analysis of the robust controller is difficult for a fractional order first derivative, we have derived a new lemma to analyze the stability of the system. Numerical simulations of the proposed chaos suppression methodology are given to prove the analytical results derived through which we show that for the derived adaptive controller and the parameter update law, the origin of the system for any bounded initial conditions is asymptotically stable.
