Abstract The increase in surface temperature and CO2 emissions are two of the most important issues in climate studies and global warming. The ‘Global Emissions 2021’ report identifies the six biggest contributors to CO2 emissions; China, USA, India, Russia, Japan, and Germany. The current study projects the increase in surface temperature and the CO2 emissions of these six countries by 2028. The EGM (1,1,α,θ) grey model is an even form of the model with a first order differential equation, that has one variable and a weightage background value that contains conformable fractional accumulation. The results show that while the CO2 emissions for Japan, Germany, USA and Russia show a downward projection, they are expected to increase in India and remain nearly constant in China by 2028. The surface temperature has been projected to increase at a significant rate in all these countries. By comparing with the EGM (1,1) grey model, the results show that the EGM (1,1, α, θ) model performs better in both in-sample and out-of-sample forecasting. The paper also puts forward some policy suggestions to mitigate, manage and reduce increases in surface temperature as well as CO2 emissions.

Compared to fossil fuels, natural gas is cleaner energy, which has developed rapidly in recent years. Studying the urban supply of natural gas has implications for the development of natural gas. In this paper, the new information priority accumulation method is integrated into the grey forecasting model with the hyperbolic sinusoidal driving term, and then the new grey model is used to predict the urban natural gas supply. The system's linear parameters are calculated by the least square estimation method, and the optimal parameter of the new information accumulated priority is determined by the Whale Optimization Algorithm. Finally, the supply of urban gas is forecasted using the proposed model, and comparative analyses with the four other forecasting models are presented.

This study applied a novel rough set combination approach for forecasting sugarcane production in India. The paper uses autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA), double exponential smoothing (DES) and Grey model (GM) to generate the single forecasts. Also, the weight coefficient is evaluated by underlying the rough set approach to combine the single forecasts obtained from different models. To validate our proposed analysis, Sugarcane from 1950 to 2011 was used for the overall empirical analysis and generate out-sample forecasts from 2012 to 2021 for the comparative analysis. Also, ARIMA (2, 1, 1) model is found more appropriate for forecasting Sugarcane production.

In this paper, a new forecasting method of agricultural water demand, fractional-order cumulative discrete grey model, is proposed. Firstly, the best fitting of historical data is used to construct the optimization model. MATLAB programming is applied to solve the optimization model and obtain the optimal order. Secondly, the fractional-order cumulative discrete grey model in this paper is compared with GM (1, 1) model to verify the performance of the model. Finally, Handan region of Hebei Province and Jingzhou region of Hubei Province were selected as the study areas to predict their agricultural water consumptions. The results show that the fractional-order cumulative discrete grey model has better prediction performance than the GM (1, 1) model. It can be used as an effective method for forecasting agricultural water consumption.

Climate change causes the spread of non-vector diseases due to the influence of climate uncertainty. The elderly group, which is vulnerable, is affected by such disasters. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to forecast epidemic peaks of food poisoning, which was found as one of the re-emerging diseases in elderly people in Khon Kaen Province, Maha Sarakham Province, and Roi Et Province, which are in the Northeastern region of Thailand by using 2 types of Grey Model: GM(1,1) and Discrete Grey Model (DGM). The monthly rate of food poisoning incidence per 100,000 elderly people from January 2017 to December 2020 i.e., 48 months in total were used in the study. The study result revealed that the DGM had higher forecasting effectiveness than that of the GM(1,1) in all three provinces. The food poisoning incidences in elderly people were forecasted to re-emerge from August to September 2021 in Khon Kaen Province, from August to September 2022 in Maha Sarakham Province, and from May to June 2022 in Roi Et Province. The results of this study are useful and helpful for the government, the Ministry of Public Health and related cooperatives to effectively help services planning resource preparation and prevention measures. Doi: 10.28991/esj-2021-01325 Full Text: PDF
