AbstractA solvent-free protocol for the production of 1-thioamidoalkyl-2-naphthols via a one-pot multi-component reaction of arylaldehydes with 2-naphthol and thioacetamide using the ionic liquid 1,3-disulfonic acid imidazolium trifluoroacetate ([Dsim][TFA]) is described. Furthermore, a plausible and attractive mechanism based on the dual functionality of the catalyst is proposed. Because of the dual functionality of [Dsim][TFA] (possessing acidic and basic sites), it is found to be generally highly effective, affording the products in high yields and short reaction times under mild conditions. We claim that this is one of the best protocols for the synthesis of 1-thioamidoalkyl-2-naphthols (in terms of yield, temperature, conditions, and/or the reaction time).

Aim and Objective: Nano-2-[N',N'-dimethyl-N'-(silica-n-propyl)ethanaminium chloride]-N,N-dimethylaminium bisulfate (nano-[DSPECDA][HSO4]) was used as a highly effective and heterogeneous silica-based nanostructured catalyst for the synthesis of 1-thioamidoalkyl-2-naphthols and substituted tetrahydropyridines. Material and Methods: The expected products were prepared in mild conditions. In this work, three novel 1- thioamidoalkyl-2-naphthols and two new tetrahydropyridine derivatives were synthesized and characterized by IR, 1H and 13C NMR and Mass spectroscopy. Results: One-pot multi-component condensation of 2-naphthol with arylaldehydes and thioacetamide catalyzed by nano- [DSPECDA][HSO4] under green, mild and solvent-free conditions led to 1-thioamidoalkyl-2-naphthols in high yields. The nanocatalyst was also used for the preparation of functionalized tetrahydropyridines by the one-pot multi-component reaction of anilines, arylaldehydes and ethylacetoacetate under solvent-free and mild conditions. Conclusion: The reactions results are better compared to the literature in terms of one or more of these factors: yield, time, and the reaction media. All the products were purified by recrystallization from EtOH, and without column chromatography, which is good agreement with the green chemistry protocols.

An efficient and simple method for the preparation of 1-methyl-3-(2-(sulfooxy)ethyl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium chloride{(MSEI)Cl}as an acidic ionic liquid is described. One-pot multicomponent condensation of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, urea/thiourea and aldehydes at 80∘C affords the corresponding compounds in high yields and in short reaction times by using (MSEI)Cl.

Abstract A highly efficient and green protocol for the synthesis of pyrimido[4,5-b]quinolines has been described. The one-pot multicomponent reaction of dimedone with arylaldehydes and 6-amino-1,3-dimethyluracil in the presence of N,N-diethyl-N-sulfoethanaminium chloride ([Et3N–SO3H][Cl]) as an ionic liquid (IL) catalyst under solvent-free conditions afforded the mentioned compounds in high yields and short reaction times. Our protocol is superior to many of the reported protocols in terms of two or more of these factors: the reaction times, yields, conditions (solvent-free versus usage of organic solvents), temperature and catalyst amount.

: A green and efficient protocol was developed for the one-pot three-component synthesis of novel 2-(4-hydroxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl)-2-(arylamino)-1H-indene-1,3(2H)-dione derivatives by the reaction of 4-hydroxycoumarin, ninhydrin and aromatic amines in the presence of guanidine hydrochloride as an organocatalyst under solvent-free conditions. The present approach offers several advantages such as low cost, simple work-up, short reaction times, chromatography-free purification, high yields and greener conditions.

AbstractIn this research, initial production and characterization of a novel Brønsted-acidic ionic liquid, namely,N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediaminium-N,N′-disulfonic acid hydrogen sulfate ([TMEDSA][HSO4]2), has been described (characterization was achieved using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR),13C NMR, and mass and thermal gravimetric spectra). Thereafter, utilization of [TMEDSA][HSO4]2as a highly effectual catalyst for the synthesis of 4,4′-(arylmethylene)-bis(3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-ol) derivatives through the one-pot pseudo five-component reaction of phenylhydrazine (2 eq.) with ethyl acetoacetate (2 eq.) and arylaldehydes (1 eq.) in relatively mild conditions, has been reported.

A green and efficient method for preparing novel heterocyclic systems is established through the reaction of differently substituted benzaldehydes, barbituric acid and 4-amino-2H-chromene-2-one under solvent-free conditions. This method affords 6H-chromeno[3’,4’:5,6] pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-trione derivatives in high yields and short reaction times.

AbstractEfficient syntheses of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-ones and the corresponding thioxo derivatives using 1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin (DBH) catalysis of a one-pot three-component Biginelli reaction of aldehydes, ethyl acetoacetate, and urea or thiourea under microwave irradiation are described. The advantages of this method are its short reaction times, high yields of the products, inexpensive and commercially available catalyst, and solvent-free conditions. Typical isolated yields exceed 70 % for arylaldehydes (9 examples) and aliphatic aldehydes (2 examples).

Aim and Objective: α-Arylglycines belong to an important class of non-proteinogenic amino acids. Petasis 3-component, one-pot reaction lends itself to be suitable for the synthesis of α-Arylglycines. Because of the low reactivity, Petasis reaction requires long reaction time. Our objective is to use ultrasound irradiation to accelerate this versatile Petasis' synthesis of α-Arylglycines. Materials and Methods: Ultrasound irradiation as a physical tool to accelerate the Petasis 3-component reaction without any auxiliary catalyst can significantly shorten the reaction time. The operation is simple. It can be applied to a wide range of substrates. In order to highlight the remarkable utility of the ultrasound in Petasis reaction, we have compared side-by-side the reactivity between the reaction with ultrasound and the one without ultrasound. Results: Using ultrasound, the reaction times of Petasis reactions with various amine substrates including primary and secondary amines, heterocyclic amines, with a wide variety of boronic acids having different substituents (activating and deactivating groups) in the phenyl rings, and with glyoxylic acid and salicylic aldehyde were shortened from 5 to more than 20-fold. Conclusion: We have discovered the first examples of an efficient ultrasound-promoted approach for Petasis reaction to prepare a series of α-arylglycines in high yields and in excellent purities. The low reactivity of the reactions in this study were significantly enhanced by the ultrasound irradiation. By virtue of the acceleration and the operational simplicity, the present ultrasound assisted Petasis reaction can find applications in the synthetic areas of the already widely used Petasis three-component reaction.

AbstractNanorod vanadatesulfuric acid (VSA NRs), as a recyclable and eco-benign catalyst, was used for one-pot synthesis of 2,4,5-trisubstituted imidazoles and 1,2,4,5-tetrasubstituted imidazoles using aldehydes, benzil, benzoin or 9,10-phenanthrenequinone and ammonium acetate or aniline under solvent-free conditions providing high to excellent yields. VSA is easily prepared by a simple reaction of chlorosulfonic acid and sodium metavanadate in high purity. As compared with the conventional procedures, the present protocol offers several advantages such as simplicity of procedure, short reaction time, high yields, easy workup, recoverability and reusability of the catalyst and simple purification of the products.
