From the aerial parts of the plant Phlomis chimerae, a new neolignan glucoside, (-)-4-O-methyldihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol-9′-O-β-ᴅ-glucopyranoside (1) was characterized along with the known neolignan glucosides, (D)-4-O-methyldehydrodiconiferyl alcohol-9′-O-β-ᴅ-glucopyranoside (= longifloroside A) (2) and (-)-dihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol-9-O-β-ᴅ-glucopyranoside (3). The structure of the new compound was established on the basis of spectroscopic evidence

Ardisinones G-H (1–2), two new diarylundecanones, were isolated from the ethanol extract of aerial parts of Ardisia tenera Mez. Their structures were elucidated by interpretation of the spectroscopic evidence. The isolated compounds were evaluated for cytotoxicity against four cell lines (MV4–11, MCF-7, HCT116 and A549) and displayed moderate inhibitory activities.

Abstract A new phenylethanoid tetraglycoside, physocalycoside (2), was isolated from the aerial parts of Phlomis physocalyx. Its structure was identified as 3-hydroxy-4-methoxy-β-phenyl-ethoxy-O-[α-ʟ-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-α-ʟ-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→3)]-4-O-feruloyl-[β-ᴅ- glucopyranosyl-(1→6)]-|β-ᴅ-glucopyranoside, on the basis of spectroscopic evidence. In addition, one known iridoid glucoside, lamiide (1) and five known phenylethanoid glycosides, wiedemannioside C (3), verbascoside (= acteoside) (4). leucosceptoside A (5), martynoside (6), and forsythoside B (7) were also characterized. Compounds 2-7 demonstrated radical scavenging properties towards the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical.

Abstract The aerial parts of Tephrosia carrollii afforded two chromene chalcones. Their structures and stereochemistry were established by spectroscopic methods. The structure of oaxacacin was revised and confirmed by X-ray diffraction. In this paper, we describe the isolation of the chalcone known as "oaxacacin" and the new chalcone named epoxyobovatachalcone. The compound der. oaxacacin was found to be identical with obovatachalcone based on spectroscopic evidence and X-ray diffraction.

AbstractA new iridoid glucoside, 8-O-acetylshanzhiside (1), was isolated from the aerial parts of Phlomis tuberosa, together with two known iridoid glucosides, shanzhiside methyl ester and lamalbide. The known phenylethanoid glycosides acteoside and forsythoside B were also obtained and characterized. The structure of 1 was determined by means of 1D - and 2DNMR spectroscopic evidence.

Extraction of the aerial parts of Eupomatia bennettii F. Muell . yielded liriodenine, eupomatenoid-1, -3, -5 and -6, eupodienone-4 and -6, and the new compounds eupomatenoid-15 and -16, eupobennettin, eupomatilone-1, -2, -3, -4, -5 and -6, and four alkaloids imbiline-1, -2 and -3 and eupomatidine-1. From the tubers, eupomatenoid-1, -3, -4, -5 and -6, eupodienone-4 and -6 were isolated along with new products eupomatenoid-15, -16, -17 and -18, bennettinone and eupomatilone-3, -4, -6 and -7. Chemical and spectroscopic evidence is used to assign the structures of imbiline-1 (1), imbiline-2 (3), imbiline-3 (5) and eupomatidine-1 (6). The previously reported alkaloids from E. laurina R. Br., EL base-4 and EL base-5, were shown to be mixtures of imbiline-1, -2 and -3, and of eupomatidine-2 (10) and eupomatidine-3 (11), respectively. 3-Methoxyeupolauridine (15) was isolated from eupolauridine mother liquors.

From the aerial parts of the plant Verbascum salviifolium, two new iridoid glucosides, 6-O- β-D-glucopyranosylcatalpol (1) and 6-O-(6″-O-trans-p-hydroxycinnamoyl)- β -D-glucopyranosylaucubin (2) along with five known iridoid glycosides, 6-O- β -D-glucopyranosylaucubin (3), 6-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosylcatalpol (4), verbaspinoside [= 6-O-(2″-O-trans-cinnamoyl)-α-L-rhamnopyranosylcatalpol] (5), pulverulentoside I [= 6-O-(2″-O-trans-p-methoxycinnamoyl-3″ -O-acetyl)-α-L-rhamnopyranosylcatalpol] (6), and buddlejoside A8 [= 6-O-(4″-O-trans-3,4-dimethoxycinnamoyl)- α-L-rhamnopyranosylcatalpol] (7) were isolated. The structures of the new compounds were established on the basis of spectroscopic evidence.
