Hungarian poet and writer Dezső Kosztolányi edited and translated the first anthology of Chinese classical poetry in the 20th century, entitled Chinese and Japanese Poems, which was published at the end of 1931. But his interest in Chinese culture can be traced back to much earlier, to the first decade of the 20th century. This article takes into consideration all of Kosztolányi’s prose writings, articles and translations related to China, Chinese poetry and also the sources of his knowledge about China, published in Hungarian and in english, German and French, such as the books of H. A. Giles, arthur Waley, richard Wilhelms, Paul Claudel and others. The paper also analyzes the role of anthologies of Chinese poetry in foreign languages that Kosztolányi consulted for his translations into Hungarian. in his writings, he depicted a somewhat idealistic picture of Chinese culture, and in spite of some occasional errors, he was successful in describing some important characteristics of Chinese life of the past, and his writings and translations have had a great influence in Hungary.

The article examines one of the aspects in the history of perception of Russian literature in China — the interrelationship of a prose poem by I. S. Turgenev (1818–1883) and Chinese traditional literature. The authors study the popularity of poems in prose by I. S. Turgenev among the Chinese readership. The novelty of the research lies in the fact that this work presents, for the first time, an overview of the links between “poems in prose” by I. S. Turgenev and traditional Chinese poetry. The material for the study was both texts of traditional Chinese prose Fu, as well as poems for singing Tsu and ancient small sanwen. Special attention is paid to the analysis of internal reasons — the connection of traditional Chinese literature with the genre and aesthetic features of Turgenev's poems in prose. The authors discuss the similarity and consonance of form, rhythm, plots, themes and similar techniques in describing nature in prose poems by I. S. Turgenev and Chinese classical poetry. The authors specifically focus on how I. S. Turgenev uses the description of nature to express his own feelings. It is emphasized that this lyrical technique not only corresponds to the aesthetic and artistic features of the poets of Ancient China, but also corresponds to classical Chinese philosophy. The analysis allows us to make sure that the reason for the popularity of poems in prose by I. S. Turgenev in China is the compliance with the aesthetic characteristics of classical Chinese literature.

Poetry is a critical element of literature which must be studied. The language in poetry is a parable language and difficult to understand because the language is rarely used in everyday life. Similarly, classical Chinese poetry preserves ancient Mandarin (文言文) [Wén yán wén] which was used in the past in China. This study is based on the findings of students’ difficulties in understanding the meaning of classical Chinese poetry. The research aimed to develop a learning medium in the form of a famous Chinese classical poetry learning module during the Tang Dynasty. There are three classical Chinese poems in this module, namely, the 静夜思 [ Jìngyè sī] by 李白 [Li Bai]; 春晓 [Chūnxiao] by ̌ 孟浩然 [Meng Haoran]; and 春夜 喜雨 [Chūnyè x ̌iyu] by ̌ 杜甫 [Du Fu], which are accompanied with an explanation of the poetry, learning activities, formative assignments, and evaluation. This study uses the Five Phases of Instructional Design Model developed by Cennamo and Kalk (2005). The results of this study indicate that the module is excellent and suitable for learning. Keywords: learning module, 唐诗 (Tangshi), literature Study, R&D

Ma Shuilong was a famous composer in Taiwan, both at home and abroad. In 1986, the publication of his concerto, Bangdi, made him the first Chinese composer to have a full performance at the Lincoln Arts Center in New York. In the field of vocal music production, “Ma Shuilong Songs Collection” reflected the mutual infiltration and integration of Chinese and Western elements, especially the combination of modern techniques and classical poetry so that Chinese ancient poetry art songs would emit unique artistic conception. In view of his three works, this article elaborates the oriental connotation in their creation through the study of the poetries involved and further extracts the characteristics of the creation and singing of ancient poetry art songs in order to provide significant references for the teaching of Chinese art songs.
