This research project aims at consolidating and revitalizing translation and interpreting pedagogy with dual emphasis on the cultural soft power and international discourse rights of China via emphasizing international competitiveness. In order to realize the significant needs of the current market requirements and the new era of China, this project proposes the “ICC” interpreting training model. It refers to the combination of intercultural communication competency with international competitiveness as the teaching and learning outcomes by means of integrating the following five components in the course content and the whole curriculum design: (1) interpreting competency – bilingual competence and interpreting skill-based training; e.g., short-term memory and note-taking; (2) national value – strengthening translation and the crucial roles and responsibilities of interpreter trainers and trainees in disseminating national culture; (3) expertise of subject matters – equipping students with expertise for work field and meeting the market requirements; e.g., specific professional knowledge and jargons demanded by the tasks; (4) professional ethics and image – extra-linguistic knowledge emphasizing a translator’s and an interpreter’s professional code of conduct and ethics in a way that can establish the “iconic” image of a professional interpreter; e.g., confidentiality, posture, and appearance; (5) practical assessment – evaluation of students’ performance in practical translation and interpreting opportunities and/or internship in organizations of various natures according to international standards. This research proposes a new training model to incorporate intercultural communication competency with international competitiveness. The significant role of interpreting pedagogy in contributing to a sound national name is investigated. The new “ICC” model that this research is proposing answers such a call for the significant role of raising cultural soft power and international discourse rights in China.

In August 1991, the book Chinese Nation’s Traditional Sports History was published, and it was hailed as the “masterpiece of Chinese folk sports” by academic circles. In this masterpiece, the traditional horsemanship of 23 ethnic minorities and that of 10 southern ethnic minorities represented by the Miao, Yi, Bai, Shui, Hani, Naxi, and other ethnic groups has been included. For the first time, this masterpiece integrates the traditional horsemanship of the ethnic minorities in Southern China in one volume. The disadvantage is that most of the included traditional horsemanship of ethnic minorities only made a brief introduction to the time, place, and form of its development. However, under the global trend of the transition from traditional society to modern society and post-modern society, the traditional horsemanship of ethnic minorities in Southern China is facing an increasingly serious crisis of inheritance and disconnection, resulting in a gradual extinction of related traditional cultural heritage. The characteristics are gradually lost because of it. Therefore, it is essential to return to the historical and cultural field of traditional horsemanship, conduct rescue excavation, sort out the traditional horsemanship of ethnic minorities in Southern China, rescue the records of traditional horsemanship that is disappearing or undergoing drastic changes, as well as carry out comparative studies on this basis. This is not only an important way to inherit the traditional culture of ethnic minorities, but also means to protect the diversity of ethnic cultures and promote the development of exotic villages.

The existence of loanwords, whose emergence has a profound connection with cultural globalization, is undoubtedly obliged to be valued. This phenomenon of linguistic integration can be appreciated everywhere in all major languages which are still widely spoken. However, this has led to the resistance of some nationalist linguists, who advocate the purity of their respective languages. Nevertheless, the purported “linguistic purity” is a false concept unquestionably. The lexical interflow is undoubtedly of irreplaceable significance, which can never be denied. Cultural diversity is absolutely the unchangeable mainstream. With this mindset, the world will be harmonious with a sense of freedom to bathe in light of tolerance and empathy.

Nowadays, colleges and universities have a large amount of information about political thought and education in addition to complex student data. Like big data, it has the characteristics of large capacity, high speed, and diversity. The ideological and political education in colleges and universities urgently needs scientific decision-making and the ability to predict possible problems ahead of time. It also perfectly matches the technical advantages of big data technology that can efficiently process data, analyze and extract information, as well as propose solutions. The traditional higher education model can no longer meet the needs of current international higher education. Under the new background, universities must explore a new model of postgraduate international education, which is practical, multi-channel, and comprehensive, on a deeper level. According to data on graduate students’ interest, psychology, and behavior, higher education teachers can purposefully innovate the methods and approaches to higher education. The integration of international graduate education with big data has been examined in this research, and a series of cultural exchanges has been carried out for foreign students at Central South University. This kind of introduction seems to have effectively boosted the attractiveness of ideological and political education, improved the research level of international graduate students, and deepened the role of campus cultural activities in educating people on a deeper level.

In the era of rapid development of information technology, an increasing number of educators involve blog sites in their language teaching process. Although blogs are incredibly effective in language teaching and learning, there is still space for growth. Students may be able to choose helpful learning content and share their thoughts with teachers and other language learners. Furthermore, as compared to traditional educational methods, blogs encourage students to communicate with their professors or other students in written form more frequently. As a result, it may help pupils enhance their reading and writing skills, as well as their learning initiative and vocabulary. Finally, it may allow students to track their learning progress, which may be beneficial in developing students’ self-assessment, self-management, and self-education skills.
