ABSTRACT Objective: To discuss the challenges for humanization at work, from the perception of Nursing educators. Method: A descriptive, exploratory, and qualitative research study conducted at a public university in Espírito Santo, with 19 Nursing educators who answered the semi-structured interview. Thematic analysis was used for data treatment, constituting two categories: interpersonal relationships and work organization. Results: The challenges for humanization at work were based on relational issues and work overload. Regarding interpersonal relationships, lack of respect and dialog and relationship problems were highlighted. Regarding the organization of work, it encompassed issues related to the content of tasks, workload, excess of activities, and work pressures. Conclusion: Relational elements and work organization are challenges for humanization, affecting the health of the educators and interfering in the organization of healthy and welcoming workspaces, contrary the National Humanization Policy.

This paper reports an investigation of the extent to which enterprise education (EE) is used in professional health schools at HEIs to develop graduates' ‘soft’ and ‘functional’ enterprise skills, and assesses the effectiveness of the process of delivering this education. A qualitative research study was carried out, using personal interviews with employers and academics, and thematic analysis was used to identify themes and codes. It was found that although experiential and interactive learning approaches are often used in pharmacy schools, the emphasis is typically on discipline-related material and therefore only ‘soft’ enterprise skills are developed. There appears to be resistance to developing ‘functional’ enterprise skills in pharmacy disciplines. Suggestions are offered for facilitating the development of healthcare graduates who are more enterprising, while highlighting the importance of raising the awareness of academics in this regard and embedding EE as part of a school's philosophy.

ABSTRACT Objective: To identify how nursing faculty perceive humanization at work; to describe the factors that enhance humanization and its implications on the health of nursing professors. Method: This was a descriptive and exploratory study carried out at a Brazilian public university with 19 nursing professors who answered a semi-structured interview. Thematic analysis was used to process data, yielding three analytical categories. Results: The faculty indicated that humanization at work and the factors that enhance it are associated with interpersonal relationships, including dialogue and respect in work relationships, positively impacting their health. Final considerations: The effective achievement humanization at work is a possibility that generates health and wellbeing for nursing faculty.

Objective: This study examined self-help strategies engaged by psychotherapy clients and explored their views on such self-help approach.Methods: Secondary analysis of data from a qualitative research study was conducted. A total of 15 psychotherapy clients were recruited, and data were collected via semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis of data was conducted using inductive approach to examine the content.Results: Three main themes revolving around self-help strategies were identified: (1) types of self-help strategies, (2) reasons for engaging in self-help activities, and (3) effectiveness of self-help strategies.Conclusion: The self-help approach to manage distress is common among psychotherapy clients. This study provided insights into understanding how and why clients use self-help strategies in their daily lives.

Background The value of qualitative research is increasingly acknowledged in health studies, as well as the demand for employing rigorous strategies. Although the literature recognises that reflexivity is a valuable and rigorous strategy, few studies unravel the practical employment of reflexivity as a strategy for ensuring rigour and quality in qualitative research. Aim To present a practical example of how reflexivity can be employed as a strategy for ensuring rigour by reviewing 13 narratives from the author's reflexive diary on qualitative research. Methods Content analysis and narrative analysis were used to approach and analyse data. Findings Analysis of the posited qualitative research study found five main outcomes of the influence of reflexivity as a strategy to establish criteria of rigour. Conclusions Further research is needed to show how reflexivity can be employed as a strategy in qualitative research to: i) establish criteria of rigour; ii) monitor the researcher's subjectivity in generating credible findings.
