Method of time sampling for processing of structured data obtained during thermal analysis of condensed media is presented, based on comparison of maximum time intervals of processes of phase transitions. Proposed method makes it possible to simplify analysis and processing of data obtained as a result of series of experiments and to identify composition, which has the largest value of time interval of phase transition process. To implement the proposed method, a program in the Java programming language was developed, which is a JavaDesktop application with an intuitive graphical interface. The calculation results are exported to a text and graphic file. To verify the feasibility of this method, studies were carried out on melting a series of ice samples and ice-containing compositions of aqueous solutions of inorganic compounds, as a result of which specific samples of compositions with the best thermophysical properties for accumulating cold were obtained from each series.

The present work seeks to demonstrate through a series of experiments such as the parameters heating rate, type of stand and physical form of the sample, can influence the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the results of the thermal analyzes of TGA and DSC. To do this, polyvinyl alcohol, a synthetic polymer was used as a model and its thermal behavior was discussed by the results obtained by the thermogravimetric (TGA) and DSC curves, showing the effect of the alteration of each parameter, such as the displacement at the temperature at which the thermal events occur in the TGA curves, related to the alteration of the physical form of the sample; the intensification of the DSC peaks due to the increase of the heating rate, the change in the heat flow by changing the stand and masking some events such as the glass transition temperature.

A new lattice Boltzmann model, which is based on Shan-Chen (SC) model, is proposed to describe liquid-vapor phase transitions. The new model is validated through simulation of the one-component phase transition process. Compared with the simulation results of van der Waals fluid and the Maxwell equal-area construction, the results of new model are closer to the analytical solutions than those of SC model and Zhang model. Since the range of temperature and the maximum density ratio are increased, and the value of maximum spurious current is between those of SC and Zhang models, it is believed that this new model has better stability than SC and Zhang models. Therefore, the application scope of this new model is expanded. According to the principle of corresponding states in Engineering Thermodynamics, the simulations of water and ammonia phase transition process are implemented by using this new model with different equations of state. Compared to the experimental data of water and ammonia, the results show that the Peng-Robinson equation of state is more suitable to describe the water, ammonia and other substances phase transition process. Therefore, these simulation results have great significance for the real engineering applications.

Crossover from individual Rabi dynamics to collective Josephson dynamics in two-coupled Bose–Einstein condensates is studied as a phase transition process. We obtain the critical value of the parameter Λ (ratio of the mean field energy to the tunneling matrix element) for the π-phase oscillations from the non-linear perturbation expansion of small oscillations around the saddle point of the first-order Euclidean (imaginary time) differential equations for polar and azimuthal angles θ and ϕ without approximation.

A series of experiments are conducted to investigate the characteristics and its effect on the melting and heat of a packed bed consisting of melting ice particles to horizontal forced convection. The volumes and situations of the melting ganular packed beds are by the visualization observations and measurements digital camcorders within the range of Re = 71 ~ 2291, Gr/Re2 = 1.48×10−5 ~ 17.32, and Ste = 0.0444 ~ 0.385, respectively. The mass of ice particles is measured at the time interval during the melting process. Two types of pattern can be found under the different conditions. The different types of heat transfer characteristics emerge in type of packing pattern. The correlations for each type of pattern are obtained based on the experimental results.
